FROM MANAGEMENT Parking of golf carts at the side of your carport is not permitted. You will be allowed to create parking for your golf cart if you provide a sketch of a “path”, alongside your driveway, to the office for approval. When at the clubhouse parking is permitted on the grassy area across from the parking lot, therefore leaving parking spaces for cars. Absolutely no auto/truck parking on the lawns. Street parking is ok for up to six hours. All pets must be leashed when outdoors. Do not tether any pet.
THE PRESIDENT I am sitting here reflecting over what has transpired since the new board has been in place since January of this year. With the new board meeting for the first time in January we experienced the hurdles of being the “new board”. February, we had a town hall meeting and asked for the community’s input. This was a valuable tool for us and assisted us in our focus and goals. March, this was a successful month. We were able to take care of some of the issues and concerns of the community. To touch on a few accomplishments; the outlets by the pool have been replaced, the lighting at the pool has been repaired and the pool facilities are now usable until 10 PM. Lights in the clubhouse have been replaced. We now have three new billboards
FROM THE EDITOR All items must be given to Connie by the 20th of the month. ALL NEWSLETTERS WILL BE HAND DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME. They can be emailed to snowbirds if you let me know when you leave and when you are to return. If you prefer a mailed copy, just provide self addressed and stamped envelopes for the months you will be away. We now have three new billboards thanks to a generous gift from Jeannette Doenges son. The big news is, Bingo will be coming back! New committees have been formed and more…. I am very proud of this board. We have a great working relationship with management and are grateful for what management has done for the community. Please thank them if you see them around the community working. The clubhouse is filling up with activities. We now have quilting on Tuesday from 9:30 to 1 PM. More and more residents are attending and creating their own individual heirlooms. Tuesdays, in the afternoon everyone is welcome to attend the pool social at 2 PM. Bingo will be back on Tuesday nights, the date and start time will be posted soon. Card games are played in the library on a regular basis. The card game 3-13 is well attended on Wednesday nights from 7 PM until the game ends. If you want to make greeting cards, there is a group on Wednesday that meet from 1 to 3. Thursdays, rock painting starts at 11 to 1. Thursday nights Euchre starts at 6:45. Pinochle just started on Sunday nights at 6 PM. Mondays nights, HOA meetings take up two nights, Wii one night and finally, Bunco for one
night. There is shuffleboard on Sunday nights and Friday morning. Rummikube is played on Friday at 1 PM. If you would like to learn how to play any of the above-mentioned games or know how to play, please come and enjoy an evening of fellowship and laughter with your neighbors. Looking to the near future: We have a resident who is looking into bringing in water aerobics. We are looking at the possibility of having an instructor come in for a nominal fee to teach low impact yoga. Hopefully, we will have darts and maybe ping pong as part of the list of future activities. We encourage you all to share new ideas for fun and activities with us. April 15th at 2 PM we will have for the first time here, sipping, snacking and painting. Sign up sheet for this is in the clubhouse. Seating is limited and there is a minimal cost to cover the materials needed. No experience required. Bring your beverage and a snack to share. Our social committee is working hard to provide new and different entertainment for us. I encourage all of you to attend the events and enjoy your retirement years. I also encourage you to participate with any needs the social committee may need, such as; decorating, cooking, prepping and serving meals, not to forget, cleanup after the events. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to make these events a success. In conclusion, in the short three months I have served on the board, I have seen positive changes in the community. I am seeing the growth and changes needed to make this community successful. We are all family in Grand Valley and we are all a team. I am proud to be part of this community.

THURSDAY MUSIC Don’t forget! Thursday Music at the home of Frank and Ollie Parnell, 8141 Bull Run every Thursday at 1pm. Everyone is welcome. This Thursday we celebrated birthdays for all our members born in March. Left to right. Doug Pyle, Les Baker, Shirley Colvin, and Sue Parnell. Louie Kingsbury was not here this week. Also in the picture is Marilyn Stasieczko and Sue Harrington. We had 32 people in attendance this week. Always a good time.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE NEWS WHAT’S HAPPENING IN GRAND VALLEY!
Now that we’ve all sobered up from all the green beer on St. Patrick’s Day, it’s on to the next events. On April 14th we are having to say goodbye to all our “snowbirds”. We will be sharing a slice, or two or three of pizza along with a salad bar. JoAnn has decided to make a banana cake for the occasion. If anyone else wishes to create one of their fabulous desserts please contact JoAnn. After we gorge ourselves on pizza, “The Voices” will be there to entertain us. The cost is $8.00 and tickets are available from Ed and JoAnn Nadeau or the office. Upcoming events include a Mother’s Day Brunch on May 13th. For the small cost of $5.00 you can take part in a buffet. Because it is Mother’s Day, the women decided not to help with the cooking or serving, SOOOOO, I am looking for “a few good men” to assist in making a nice breakfast buffet. CALL ME PLEASE! Tickets will again will be available from Ed & JoAnn Nadeau or the office. After the tribute to the mothers, we plan to have a pot luck BBQ on Memorial Day. We are requesting $4.00 per ticket to cover the cost of the baby back ribs. Get your tickets from Ed & JoAnn Nadeau or the office. We’re not forgetting the fathers either. All the dads will be honored at a breakfast buffet on June 17th. It will give the women a chance to reciprocate and make breakfast for the fathers. Remember, if you’re a father, a mother, grandfather or grandmother or if you were raised by a mother or father, or if you want to be adopted for the day, SEE ME. There were 81 tickets sold for our St. Patrick’s Day dinner. We all had a nice dinner and listened to Al March. There were some problems, for which JoAnn and I apologize. Some of our attendees walked away with door prizes. Shirley Hacrett won a Morano Glass Necklace donated by Diane Furtek. Harry Decker, Mary Jane Sellers and Barb Bell won gift certificates to Cracker Barrell donated by the GVHA. The big winners of the night were Joe Michaud and Helen Roos. They both left with $60 each. I was asked why our prices are fluctuating. It is simply the cost of the food we serve (we try and buy the best) and the cost for the kind of good entertainment we like has increased.

Crust: Blend together 2 cups crushed graham crackers, 1/2 cup melted butter and 2 Tbsp sugar. Pour into a 9” x 13” baking dish and press evenly. Filling: Blend together 1 cup key lime juice and 2 cans Eagle Brand milk. Add 16oz Cool Whip (thawed) and a few drops of green food coloring. Mixture will be stiff. Pour into baking dish over graham crust. Refrigerate 3-4 hours before serving. Note: you can cut the recipe in 1/2 and pour into a 9” graham cracker pie crust for a Key Lime Pie.
