Southfork News “FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS Have a great month!

December 2018

Christmas is a special time To give, to serve, to love. It isn't just about yourself, But others that you think of. The presents, the trees, the glowing lights Are fun but have no part In what the real meaning of Christmas is... That is in your heart. Even if other people don't, You should try to do The things that you would want Them to do to you! The holidays are a busy time, But they are sometimes good Because they keep you thinking About others like you should. So this year, try to not think about yourself, But think of the things you can do To help others have a wonderful Christmas, And you will find that you will be happy too.

Southfork Women’s Club

November 7. The women’s club held its meeting with 48 ladies present. It was also my first meeting back and I was a little rusty. While I was up north, Gail did a great job organizing wonderful events every month, so thanks very much to Gail from all of us. The big part of the meeting was about the up coming Bazaar. Sue Kerschner has everything very well organized. It will be a great success. Many thanks to Sue for the wonderful job she has done. The Christmas grocery bags, with the list of goodies, where given out, if you did not get one and want one, please see Carol Whitbeck. All the bags should be back to Carol by the 10 Dec. Thanks to all who took one. This year we are also doing Christmas Stockings for the children. You can either get a stocking and fill it yourself, or just buy some little toys and candy and put them in the bin at the club house. Thanks again. Now I asked for a chairperson for the SOUP DINNER, but was not successful during the meeting, but I did get two great ladies. Jackie Morgano, and Marica Alexander, thanks a lot for stepping up. The SOUP DINNER will be held on Jan 19, 2019 at 5 o’clock. The Christmas party will be hosted by Carol Albers, Katie Bellnier and Diana Unger. The party will start at 11:00 and there will be a gift exchange of ($10.00) , if you want to participate. See you all there. Thanks to Carolyn, Cathy and Linda for a healthy and wonderful lunch. See you all next month Nancy McCallan

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME The Women’s club of Southfork does a lot of good work, helping people in Dade City and area. We can do this work because of the generosity of the people of Southfork. They say that charity or a helping hand, starts at home, so the Women’s Club would like to also help the people in the park. This help would be anonymous .

The idea would be if someone has unexpected medical expenses, car problems or any number of unexpected financial set backs, then the Women’s Club may be able to help. We could get a gift card from one of the grocery stores or even help pay down someone’s bills. This will not solve the whole problem but just be a helping hand.

Whatever the problem may be, as a community if we can help our neighbors and this is a feel good moment all around.

So if you know someone who is having financial issues and could use a little help, please let the Women’s Club executive know.

Nancy McCallan President , Southfork Women’s Club

We should be enjoying life to the fullest.

Old Christmas Cards Please save all the covers from your Christmas cards (any greeting cards) and place them in the designated box in our Library starting the 1st week of December through and including mid January. They will be sent to a group who uses them to decorate Christmas stockings for prisoners. They used our cards from last year and served almost 2000 last year. Remember, they love Nativities, Christmas scenes, Flowers, Crosses and anything to do with Christmas. They sent Southfork a very nice thank-you. Thanks advance!! Carol Barnett

BINGO CORNER NEWS

Bingo is back in full swing after a few weeks of being shut down. Thanks to Kay Tuttle who has stepped forward to chair the bingo along with her bingo committee. With the chain of events since Marielle’s passing on Oct 12th.. and a change of chairperson since the last newsletter, this new committee started back on Wednesday, Oct 31st Bingo will still be held at the same time on Wednesday evenings with the Warm Up game starting at 5:45pm. Any questions, please contact Kay Tuttle.

There are no changes in the game playing and all will stay the same. Thanks everyone and we welcome Kay with open arms bringing the game back to all the bingo players.

Attention Residents

With more residents heading back there are obviously more golf carts/cars driving around the park. Please obey all traffic rules as posted. We have had some close calls with stop signs being ran and speeding down the streets..

We also have had several incidents down in the retention pond area, pet area and RV area recently with pets and owners with dogs being off leashes. Pasco County has a leash law – it will not be Southfork Management you will be dealing with, it will be Pasco County animal control and their set fines and punishments. Please be a responsible pet owner and govern yourself and your pet accordingly Thank you so much! Tim & Megan

Article submitted by Kathy Gallick Ambulance Committee did a wonderful job, making, serving, and awarding us with a wonderful plate of Tacos, with all the trimmings. Thanks Carolyn and Jim and the entire committee that helped serve. We did not leave hungry, company was delightful. Had a chance to meet new neighbors and make new friends. Southfork is a wonderful community, perhaps not always perfect, but, always willing to make things perfect. I for one appreciate the hard work put into all of our activities by my neighbors. See you at the next function, Dec. 11, Tuesday, Christmas Show. Thanks Bob for the entertainment.

Hotdogs by the Pool Submittted by Kathy Gallick Another pleasant Wednesday afternoon at the pool with Hamburgs and Hot Dogs. Our cook, Marsha, does a wonderful job filling the customer's plates, yummy. Many choices! The staff, behind the counter, and the gals taking our order, pleasant and organized. Thanks so much for stepping up to the plate and feeding the Southfork Residents.

Just a reminder that all jobs serviced in the community is the responsibility of each resident and does not in any way reflect on the Southfork management.
