MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Can you believe it’s November already? Time for lots of things to happen and time to welcome back our snow birds. They’ve started arriving back as the snow starts to happen up North. Welcome - we missed you.

For starters we have our Garage Sale - Yard Sale on Saturday, November 10th.

Residents that want to sell early for the benefit of other residents, be sure to have you “stuff” ready for viewing on Friday afternoon. Don’t forget the bake sale will be available on Friday and again on Saturday. There will also be a craft sale in the clubhouse. We appreciate all you bakers as well. The following week on Monday the 12th we will honor our Veterans with a brunch and program and introduce you to The Veteran of the Year for 2018. Saturday the 17th will be the Harvest Dance.

Get your tickets from Bonnie at the office. On the 22nd we will be having our annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Clubhouse.

You may have heard about the issues involving our “Share the Wealth” ticket drawing during our events, and the temporary halt of any money games - well, Florida Statute states that penny-ante games are permissible if pots are not over $10 for any given game. The board research was completed within that same week and activities resumed at that time. However, there will be no more “Share the Wealth” during our events.

Thanks for all your support, personally I’ve had a lot going on and I do appreciate everyone’s assistance.

Line Dancing Thursday, November 8th 1:00-2:00 PM LHV Clubhouse Instructor: Phyllis Lennox Come and enjoy an hour of fun and fellowship. We will be learning easy line dances that are fun. Get up and on the floor and get those feet moving.

FOOD BANK Foodbank donations are slowly coming along.

There continues to be a great need for those less fortunate. In fact, the mission has lost many regular donations. They are in dire need of canned goods. Our friends, Mary Ellen and John, will again be available to pick up any unsold or unwanted items after the Yard Sale. They do not sell the items but dispense them without charge to those less fortunate. If you would like them to remove items after the sale, please sign your name and lot # on the sheet provided in the clubhouse. They will be wearing identification badges on that day. A BEAUTIFUL THANKSGIVING STORY A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help."

There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were.

The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. When life gives you 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence.

Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The last cart must be back at the clubhouse by 6:00pm. The cards will then be validated and winners announced.

There will be a Poker Run trivia contest during the event and a cash prize will be awarded.
