GOLF CART ISSUES

Hi Everyone, I am wondering if any of our residents provides help with golf cart issues? I have had a couple of outside people look at things and my experiences have not been positive. We do not have any major problems, just some minor things that should be addressed. Of course this would be a paid service. I would feel much better with someone from LHV who I can trust. Thanks. HOW OLD ARE YOU

HOA Forms Emergency Preparedness Committee By Joyce Middleton, President, HOA After Hurricane Irma last year, the LHV Homeowners Association (HOA) began to discuss the need for overall coordination and planning for future emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, fires, etc. Due to the extraordinary efforts of many people at LHV we all survived and some of us rebuilt. We are very thankful that there were no serious injuries. During the time of crisis many of us drew upon our experiences and the vast amount of resources available from organizations in Polk County. Some stayed during the storm. Some went to a shelter. Some left the area. Preparation for the storm was an individual matter. However, there was great assistance and help from neighbors and friends. Many of our snowbirds watched from afar and kept their fingers crossed. Many of them had assistance from people watching their homes. Overall, there was no central coordination. Everyone was on his or her own, with help if needed. The HOA believes that we should be involved in helping to coordinate planning for hurricanes and other events. I am pleased that earlier this year the HOA decided to form an Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC). This committee has two major goals: 1. Planning for the current hurricane season, June to November 2018. 2. Long term planning for future events. The committee has begun meeting. The group is in the process of gathering information to be distributed to all our residents. As part of the planning process the HOA will identify residents with special needs. We plan to offer assistance to everyone during this process. In order to present information and recommendations for residents during this hurricane season A Special Meeting of the HOA has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 12th at 7:00PM at the clubhouse. We hope all of you will attend. If you cannot attend or need assistance in any way, please contact one of the committee members listed below: • • • • • • •

Art Stanley David Hurr Lori Johnson Wayne Saunders David Rawson Jerry Sibila Dave Graham

There is a tremendous amount of work to do and the committee is looking for volunteers for many different things, from checking on people, helping people pack for evacuation, choosing a shelter, helping put up storm windows, etc. This will be covered in greater detail at the meeting of June 12th. LHV is a family of sorts, sharing a community, friends, and a wonderful lifestyle. We want to help make life better for everyone along with insuring that each and every one of us is prepared and safe during any emergency event.

ALL RESIDENTS: PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE PET GUIDELINES, ANYONE NEEDING A COPY OF THESE CAN COME BY THE OFFICE

POLK COUNTY ALERT Submitted by: Joyce Middleton

Polk County Sheriff’s office wants the public to be aware of numerous reports received on Distraction Burglaries throughout our area and ask you to share this information with family and friends. Distraction Burglaries involve fake service providers who arrive unexpectedly to your front door to provide you a service. These folks will pose as tree-trimmers, roofers, landscapers, driveway pavers, salespersons or even claim to be from the utility company all to lure elderly victims outside of their homes to discuss fabricated offers. Once outside, their accomplices sneak inside your residence unnoticed, to steal your valuables. They are skilled pitchmen who often utilize a walkie-talkie or cellular phone to stay in contact with each other. They may also have ID’s badges and business cards in attempt to legitimize their scam. Should you encounter a suspicious person attempting to solicit unwanted services at your home, we urge you to contact law enforcement immediately!! Call Polk County Sheriff Office @ 863298-6200. Call: 863-298-6200, if you feel uncomfortable with a stranger at your front door offering services you do not want. Call us to check it out for you. However, if you feel threaten or scared, call 911. Homeowners are not obliged to invite solicitors inside their residence or to leave their home unattended. By being aware of unexpected visitors will help reduce crime.
