A Message from the President . . . .

Dear Friends and Neighbors, May has arrived quickly and some of our residents have already headed north. Their winter just doesn’t know when to end. For those who are preparing to leave, drive safe, have a nice summer and we’ll see you in the fall. A reminder to be sure your freezers are empty in the event of power outages. Be certain you’ve prepared your house and surroundings for safety, hurricane season is approaching.

Our activities continue as the summer moves forward. We have a new committee called the ‘Event Committee’ and are excited to see what new events they bring forward. They have already put forth a nice selection of fun things to keep us busy. The Activities Committee continues to be busy enough with all the monthly activities we have going on so this new committee will be focused on bringing new events for our fun. Stay tuned for some fun summer events.

There will be a Memorial Day service in the clubhouse on Monday, May 28th starting at 11:00 am. Thank you to Clark and Joice Smith for doing this service again this year – always a beautiful tribute. Immediately following the service the HOA will provide a cookout. The cookout will be free to all members in good standing, a nominal fee of $3 per person for all others including guests. Please join us for a beautiful service and kick off to a wonderful summer.

We’re still looking for volunteers to help with bingo hot dogs and food on Wednesday nights. If you have a spare Wednesday a month, please contact Art Stanley or Jerry Sibila. Remember, all these bingo funds help pay for all the events the HOA does for our residents.

ALL RESIDENTS: We would like to thank all the residents who responded to our reminders sent out for pressure washing your homes. Twenty-Four letters were sent and all responded. Thanks to all!!

We have an obligation to all residents to maintain the high quality of our community and protect your investment by enforcing the guidelines. There has been some confusion on Rule #10 in our rules and regulations concerning vehicle parking on vacant lots. The rules clearly state that parking on the empty lots is temporary, meaning just that, not every day, not 24-7, just temporary, also stated is that no vehicles (golf carts included) are to parked on the lawns at any time. Any resident needing a copy of the rules and regulations can stop by the office.

We would also like to remind residents that own boats, that they can be parked on your driveway for a twenty-four (24) hour period only for charging and / or cleaning purposes. Also, please have your neighbor’s permission before parking on someone else’s driveway.

Effective Immediately any resident needing to park a vehicle on an empty lot temporarily for any reason, or park a boat on their driveway for maintenance, will need to notify management for approval, a parking pass will be issued in accordance and displayed in the vehicle. We will ask our CAP Patrol for their help in monitoring this.

We will continue to provide overflow guest parking at the clubhouse for your convenience.

Fish Fry Thank You The fish fry is a popular event made possible with many helping hands. Behind the scene fryers were Gary Smith, Lee Rhoades, Bob McDonald and Norm Baczkiewicz and Lee Emery.

Jan Baczkiewicz was in charge of the appetizers. Karen Wilson, Anna Smith, Brin McDonald and Sheryl Nykaza were great servers.

Margaret Conley, Debbie DeVore and Marilyn Smith prepared the baked beans and Shay Greenfield furnished the strawberries for the sundaes.

Let’s not forget everyone who helped set up and clean up, making this a successful 2018 fish fry.

DEBORAH EVILSIZER Article written and submitted by Marian Spiegel Deb and her husband Bill were originally from West Branch, Michigan. A few years ago they use to come down to rent. Bill became ill while they were down here and passed away 2015.

In the mean time Deb made a lot of friends so she thought this would be a good park to move into and sell her house in Michigan. She moved into 92 Rieneke in August 2017.

There’s a daughter in Michigan and son in South Carolina. She has five grand-children.

Deb was a nurse at West Branch Medical Center.

She retired from there as a case manager.

Deb has been playing CLR and Dominos with the neighborhood ladies. She would like to start line dancing. She goes to pot lucks.

She has two dogs, Tony and Tillie. They go out to the woods on the golf cart.

Deb also enjoys the park because it is pet friendly.

If you see her out and about introduce yourself and make her feel welcome.

ANNUAL APPRECIATION LUNCHEON The Annual Polk County Sheriff’s Office Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Lake Eva convention center in Haines City. Lake Hammock Village was represented by 17 C.A.P. Volunteer residents who had volunteered 40 or more hours during 2017. This luncheon recognizes the C.A.P. Volunteers for their dedicated service to the Polk County Sheriff’s Agency and to Lake Hammock Village and its residents.
