~ The Legend of the Pussy Willow ~
Many springtimes ago, according to an old Polish legend, tiny kittens had been chasing butterflies at the river's edge and fell in.
The mother cat, helpless to save them, started crying. The willows at the river's edge swept their long graceful branches into the water - the kittens gripped on tightly to the branches and were rescued.
Each springtime since, goes the legend, willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds where the tiny kittens once clung.

SOUTHFORK CINEMA, Tuesday Apr 9th - 7:00 pm!! Our next Tuesday Night Movie will be Apr 9th @ 7:00pm. The “CineBistro will continue serving all you can eat popcorn for 25 cents and ice cream for $.50 a bowl . (Root Beer floats available for $1.00) You are welcome to bring your own beverages. There’s plenty of seating but feel free to bring your own comfy chair! Don’t forget, we take requests!!! Something you want to see? Just let us know
HOT DOGS AND HAMBURGS BY THE POOL Season ends April 25th Hamburgers and Hotdogs are held every Wednesday from November 1st to April 30, or the end of April. Our hours are 4:00 to 5:30 pm. If the weather is too cold or it is rainy we cancel. We post this on Facebook and also let Phyllis know as she can post it to everyone. We also post a paper on the Club House door by the swimming pool side. We need 3 volunteers every Wednesday. The volunteer’s have a good time and they get to meet new people from the park as well as people from the nearby area parks. They also get a free meal for helping. This is held by the swimming pool in the Cabanna.

HELLO SOUTHFORK WELL THIS MARCH HAS BEEN VERY ACTIVE WITH ALL THAT IS GOING ON. THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED TO MAKE IT THAT WAY. WE HAVE HAD VERY GOOD TURN OUTS FROM OUR RESIDENTS. IT IS GOOD TOO SEE PEOPLE ENJOYING OUR PARK. WILL BE COME A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY.

Easter Ham (provided by HOA), balance of the meal is potluck for our annual dinner which will be ready at 4pm on Sunday, April 1st This is a Potluck and there will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for all who would like to attend. This is important so they know how much HAM must be purchased. We would like to invite all from Southfork on this special holiday to join your fellow neighbor and friends for a fantastic feast. Bring a dish to pass that will serve at least 8 to 10 people and also bring your own table service of plate and utensils, Coffee and Iced Tea will also be provided!.
The coffee will be perking so come and enjoy a cup and enjoy the day. Hope to see you there and have a Happy Easter!!!! Sponsored by Southfork HOA.
Southfork Women’s Club
March 7 2018. Another great meeting, 47 women present, including new members to the park, and guests. The Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. The plans for the Soup Supper are going well, with the tickets all sold. Well done ladies. I suggested that next year the soup supper be held in January 2019 and start at 5 p m. All present agreed, great…but I will be needing a new coordinator for it, so don’t be shy. But what we really need is a coordinator for November’s Bazaar. This is very important and I have to have it settled before I leave in April!!!!! I have some good people who will help, but we need a leader. Think about it and come and talk to me. Now for the fun part. We had a great speaker from the Dade City Library. Angelo Liranzo and Danielle Lee came with a suitcase full of information. The library has 4 or 5 different “platforms” (that’s a computer term) that you can use to get information, not just books, but movies, magazines, audio tapes…etc. and it is all free. Plus Friends of Library have a book sale once a month. It was a very informative meeting. Linda Adams and her friends baked great healthy breads that were thoroughly enjoyed. Some lucky people got to take them home, too. The next meeting will be April 4 at 10:30. It will be mostly a luncheon with our Easter Bonnets on parade, and a game or two. Hope to see you all there. After the dinner we are planning a Southfork style derby and we are looking for volunteer jockey’s for the horse races. We have some great (jockey’s) here in Southfork and proved that last year at our May party. This is a (PRE) Kentucky Derby party and not the real one, because of the many snowbirds leaving we decided to have it 1 month early.
There will be betting which is $.25 per race, and all proceeds will be paid out. So, come and cheer for your favorite horse jockey…. Hope all you members come out for this one and it should be loads of laughs!!!!

Brian Hoffman's Remembering Red - A Tribute to Red Skelton re-creates some of Red's best known characters. Re-live great memories from the 50's, 60's and early 70's while you watch Brian Hoffman act out narrated pantomimes and short one man skits that Red Skelton was famous for. This family friendly comedy show is ideal for all ages. always heartwarming, never insulting.

If you like great entertainment and you like to laugh then you won't want to miss this show. It is totally hilarious. Brian does everything to a "T". If you R a fan of Red Skelton then this is a must see show. Never before seen in this area and believe me you must see it. Great, great production.

There are 4 new picnic table/benches at the pavilion with a possibility of 2 or more being added.
The entire community is welcome to use the pavilion, tables and fire ring at any time. Please take advantage of this area and do not just let it set there empty‌..
If you wish to reserve the pavilion for a special event please contact Tom Geyer. Tom also does the scheduling for the pool area and club house. So before you plan on any special get together’s, make sure to talk with Tom so no conflicting of schedules happen. Tom already is scheduling the pavilion.
2018 Women’s Club Soup Supper Article and photo’s submitted by Kathy Gallick Soup anyone? YES thank you! A wonderful variety of soups offered a delightful meal. If you didn't find what you liked, no, that could not be possible. Thanks to all who worked so hard, cooking, baking, preparing, setting up and cleaning up. Our chairperson, Betty, did a wonderful job, Club House looked so very festive, good company, good food, great desserts, soft drinks and coffee. Now I ask, where can one go and have a more enjoyable afternoon? Thanks to our Woman's Club officers who work so hard for our charities and making our meetings so pleasant. Library, I'm checking out a Eukalalie for sure. Who knew? Looking forward to working and enjoying the social friendships we all enjoy.

We were introduced to the students who had grown and became professionals. Doctors, teachers, physicians, firemen, and a person of the cloth, a pastor and many others. Each articulated periods of their life. So very, very well done, bravo. And then the catholic mothers, bragging, bragging, but that Chippendale mom certainly quieted them in a heartbeat. Well done ladies.

Snow Birds and All Residents Are you interested in what’s going on in Southfork?
On a regular basis I send out mass emails to all residents when there are any happenings here at Southfork, such as deaths, sickness of a resident, and management special announcements for those that are not in our facebook group.
If there are any happenings or excitement (hurricanes) here that you would not necessarily know about and would like to be kept up to date, I would gladly put you on my email mailing list when I send emails out to all the residents. I do not use these addresses for anything except Southfork info. So if interested contact me at: pkaygrossi@aim.com
One other thing is that you can review all past and current newsletters from Southfork and you can view them on line at: www.floridacommunities.com When you go into this web site, click on Southfork, and when it comes up, click at the bottom on either monthly newsletters or the resale’s. By viewing them on line you get to see them in color which is so much better than the black and white printed copies we receive each month.

Euchre Tournament
On, Saturday, Feb. 17thst, 2018, the 2nd annual Euchre Tournament was held at the clubhouse with 16 players in attendance. It was lots of fun, even if you had to pay $0.25 cents per Euchre. Everyone brought finger food, Linda Belesky made delicious sloppy Joe’s and more than enough food to feed the group. It was all so delicious!!!!! . We had many prizes of money and here listed are the top 3 winners. 1st place: Marielle Q. 2nd place: Tom Geyer 3rd place: Jack Belesky
1 prize for the most loners 2 prizes for the worst scores. We had lots of laughs and are looking forward to the next one.

Who do we thank First? Shoppers, cooks, servers, set up people, dessert wait staff, or clean up staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Was like eating at the finest restaurant.
