A Message from the President . . . . .

Dear Friends and Neighbors, March was a very busy month for all of us. The Community Yard Sale was a huge success and I hope all of you “disposed” of your items with a little cash in your pockets. The Vendor Fair was not attended by as many Vendors as previous years and I don’t think as many residents as in the past. We may need to address this in the coming months to see if it’s still as much an interest as past years; or do we need to consider this as an every other year event. Think about that and feel free to give me your feedback.

On a very positive note – the Spring Dance just finished up and big congrats to two new families who took this project on and what a great event. It was attended by 67 residents and I understand the DJ was a lot of fun, many games and activities for those who don’t like to dance. So congrats to the Waybills and Hurrs for a great successful event and entertainment for this great community and thank you!!

Easter is upon us very early this year so I’m sure by the time you read this you will have already enjoyed Easter Dinner, meat dishes donated by our owners and the event hosted again by the Stumps and Baczkiewiczs. Thank you guys.

Now, on a personal note, I want to thank this great community and wonderful neighbors for the out pouring support, food, cards, and kind words during this incredibly rough time with the passing of my husband and best friend, Jim. Thank you all so much and may God Bless you all.

SAYING GOOD BYE TO A PET WITHOUT FEELING GUILITY Resident Barbara Pund asked if excerpts of this article by Kathy Antoniotti be published in Gator Tales. Recently Barbara had to say good bye to her beautiful cat Cassidy.

She thought that others may find the article informative and helpful: It’s likely to be one of the most difficult decisions you will ever make. How do you know when it is time to say goodbye to a well-loved pet? How do you know when it is selfishness that stops you from letting a pet go when that would be the most compassionate course of action?

Much as we would love all our animals to die quietly in their sleep it is rarely that easy. Your veterinarian may be able to tell you when the time has arrived, but ultimately, you need to make the decision.

The following signs may help to determine is your pet is no longer enjoying good quality of life: -

-

Experiencing chronic pain that cannot be controlled with medication Has frequent vomiting or diarrhea causing dehydration and/or significant weight loss Has stopped eating or will only eat if force fed Is incontinent Has lost interest in all or most normal activities Cannot stand on his own or falls when walking Has chronic labored breathing

Once the decision is made, your veterinarian will explain the euthanasia procedure which usually includes a sedative being administered first to relax the animal prior to the final injection which ends life. The final decision will be dealing with the pet’s remains – cremation or burial.”

Grieving the loss of a beloved pet can only be handled by whatever means the owner finds comfort. For those who have never known the love of a pet, have some compassion and understanding for those who have.

Along with the ladies that work the bingo room selling packages and verifying cards I would like to thank Art Stanley and all those that work the kitchen every Wednesday. Also, those that volunteer their time to bake we appreciate it more than you will know. Thanks, again.

Cynthia Anderson Cynthia and her husband Jim, were originally from North Carolina, but more recently lived in Poinciana.

Jim owned and operated two gas stations while Cynthia was employed by the airline industry, where she worked in reservations for 27 years. Jim passed away in 2014 and Cynthia's daughter helped her find Lake Hammock Village. She moved into 180 Glen Este Blvd with her two dogs, Maggie and Taz, in August of 2017.

Cynthia and Jim had two daughters, one in North Carolina and one in California. Between the two, there are five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Cynthia is busy with her church, she enjoys colorand stitch, potlucks and eating out with the ladies.

When you see Cynthia out and about, stop and make her feel welcome.

We will be making pebble art pictures. Most of you were shown samples at the March craft class. We will be making the same picture to keep things simplified. I am asking each of you to bring the board to make your picture on. I purchased mine at Walmart for $2.47 or $2.57 I believe. You will find it in the craft section. You may also find something similar at Michaels. Mine measures 12” x 5 ½ “. I will be bringing the rest of the supplies.

See the picture below for a sample of the work board. Also see picture showing the little pieces of twigs. When out on your walks or rides please gather some twigs and bring them to class with you. The women’s hat is the cap of an acorn. Use your imagination.

If your are unable to find a board that you want to use I will have available canvas board and it can be painted on the background, you can do your pebble art picture on it and when it is done put it in a 8x10 frame of your choice. If you have any questions about the work board, please stop by lot #162 or call me at 863-866-9121.

ANNUAL LHV SHUFFLEBOARD TOURNAMENT 2018

There were 32 shuffleboard players in the tournament held on March 19th. The winners were: 1st Place Trophy – Jan Baczkiewicz and Rich Bialecki 2nd Place Trophy – Norm Baczkiewicz and Terry Barnhart 3rd Place Trophy – Richard Gould and Linda K. After the tournament, lunch was served in the clubhouse. Everyone brought food to share.

Norm and Janw Baczkiewicz furnished the sandwiches and drinks.

Thanks to Norm and Jan Baczkiewicz for hosting. We all had fun, visiting with each other, and shared a wonderful lunch.
