As you all know by now our park managers John & Sandi have retired.

To John & Sandi as you embark upon a new path of retirement, let us wish you many moments of happiness, success and enjoyment. Enjoy your new found freedom. We bid you farewell and we want to thank you for your huge contribution and work here at Southfork. The past 6 years have been a hard road but you made Southfork come alive again when you started all the renovations and making Southfork a proud place to live in. You got the Pavilion going so that many events are held there and you both were instrumental in our first “Fun Day” event held and so many more things too numerous to mention. We thank you for all of your efforts even with all the static received along the way. Enjoy retirement and now you will know how all of us retirees feel and what we all do with so much time on our hands…………… At least you will be in the sun and atmosphere here in Florida and near family, so again……………..farewell and thank you.

Welcome to our New Park Managers

We welcome our new managers, Kevin & Kim Hadden and hope you have an easy transition into this great park of Southfork. We are all looking forward to meeting you and best of luck.

Phone Directory Just a reminder, ……………….no home deliveries will be made of the phone directories.

I will bring them to the office after they are delivered to me and if anyone wants a new one, just ask at the office. Don’t quote me on this but I think they will be delivered around the end of February and if sooner or later I will let you know………..So when you go to pay your rent, stop and ask if they have been brought in yet.

Also, if any errors or corrections need to be made, I can make them but they will not show until the next directory in 2018 when the next book comes out. Remember, each year the deadline for additions/corrections must be made by December 1 st. Thanks, Phyllis Grossi

Unsung Hero’s

As our friends in Southfork know, Mary White has undergone yet another hip replacement. It was rough going The last few months. Angels visited, helping Mary do normal activities, necessary activities, into bed, out of bed, moving from here to there, so common, yet became so difficult. You know who you are, (Nancy and Jim.). And yet, that knock at the door, bringing dinner, so very appreciated, I'm not much of a cook. You know who you are, (Linda.). Thanks for all the good wishes. Happy to say Mary is well on the road to recovery. All appreciated by myself, Ron White Submitted by Kathy Gallick. Southfork Women’s Club Dear friends, No one was more surprised than I was to be nominated by Shirley Hood and elected to be President. I made my New Year Resolutions as follows: 1 Reach my TOPS goal…..(Take off Pounds sensibly) 2 Be a better neighbor 3 Volunteer again (I hadn’t thought about being an officer again) And….now with your help, make our 2017 Women’s Club meetings and new activities a happy fun place to be! I am grateful to have Carol Whitbeck, Vice President again, Lynda Adams as Secretary and Shirley Hood as Treasurer. We need you to be a part of the team…..we need volunteers to Hostess, be a Greeter at the door at our meetings and activities, send “Thinking of You” cards, bringing a neighbor to meeting or activities. If you would like a job, we will find the right job for you. Dot Cady 352-567-6456

JANUARY 2017 SOUTHFORK “BABES”

If you guessed this heart-throb as HARRY STILPHEN – you are correct! W Harry was born December 29th in Portland, Maine! He and wife, Cheryl first moved here in 2002 and back in 2005. (They couldn’t stay away!) Harry and Cheryl have been married 17 years (May 20th) and share three children and five grandchildren (4 boys and 1 girl)! Harry was a Manager & retired from a defense plant that built naval ships (Bath Iron Works) in ME. He enjoys reading, playing horseshoes, and having a RVloves camping and traveling. He’s also known as one of the “Palamino Pal’s” singing group - the renowned trio who performed for us on New Years’ Eve! Great job! Great pic Harry!

You had to know this is “JUDY GEYER!” and her mother! Judy was born May 10th in Fort Jennings, Ohio and moved here with husband, Tom, to their Palamino home 14 years ago! Judy and Tom have been married for 35 years and share seven children, 14 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren! Judy retired as a Bookkeeper from Goodyear Tire Company in Ohio. Tom also had a career at Goodyear! Judy loves the children, & grand & great-grand babies too; plus reading, sewing. She and Tom also love to travel! You’ll see both of them out and about and we’re happy they made their home here!

This pic is of three Babes we’ve had (just had to post this great family). Mary Freund (mom’s lap) provided this with her two sisters – Judy Geyer (top) and Janet Lehman (left)! And of course their Mother! Such a great family picture of the “girls!” Thanks Mary for sharing!

Sorry, I had no “Babe” pictures for this issue. We will continue having this article as long as we have pictures to post! Thanks to all the participants! Please continue! Do you have a pet? I’d love to get to know them and feature them too! They are like little “humans” to all of us animal lovers! Have a wonderful February! Jean Deiss (863-602-1535) Email: jdeiss0831@yahoo.com

Yarn Hookers Tuesdays at 2:30pm (come and join us) Anyone interested in either of the above are more than welcome to meet with us on Tuesdays, at 2:30pm in the main hall of the clubhouse.. The purpose of this small group is not only a social hour of knitting, crocheting or anything made with yarn and needles, but this group brings ideas to pass along and this year we will be focused on projects made that we will donate to charity... You must supply your own yarn, needles and patterns. Patterns can be passed, help can be given and anyone who has knitted or crocheted can come and help us who still are not “professionals” and need help from time to time. We are novices and what a treat it is to see our struggles but we are willing and daring to try anything that we are taught. First timers, suggest a dishcloth pattern to start your venture……. This year we will be focusing on making items to donate to Daystar here in Dade City. We donate the items and they sell the items in their store to make money to purchase food for their food pantry. So you can see it is social along with helping others. We are looking for others in the community who crochet or knit and if you do not want to attend the weekly get togethers you can help us out by your donations of items that you make and we can donate. If any questions, please contact Linda Welch or Phyllis Grossi @ 352-567-6105 or email me at pkaygrossi@aim.com

And if you like sausage gravy and biscuits, theirs is probably the best south of the Mason Dixon." Thanks, Jim Barnett

Look who was caught on camera, again volunteering her time at many Southfork functions. Could that be our own Willie Stoever? By golly, it is. Baking cookies, selling cookies, giving out tickets and many other duties Willie enjoyed. Thanks for all the hard work Willie. The very, very best to you and Smokey as your new adventure begins. God speed.

Enjoying New Years Eve at Southfork Clubhouse, December 31, 2016 Thank you Phyllis Fisher and your committee for putting together a most pleasant evening. A wonderful D.J, from Betmar, played music everyone enjoyed. Fast, slow, country, he had it all. We had Karaoke talent, In Fact we were introduced to the "Palamino Boys." Quite interesting, and so very entertaining. We had Willie and Dolly, that would be the Fishers, entertain us, and as mentioned The Palamino Boys, with their rendition of Elvira and Its Hard to Kiss Those Lips at Night. Jerry entertained us with his guitar and songs that were enjoyed by all. Many dancers flooded the floor, Electric Slide, Chicken Dance, Cupid Shuffle, we did them all.

Pat & Phyllis Fisher

Champagne was served at midnight, we are blessed with family, good neighbors and friends. Prizes were also distributed, so much fun. Let's do it again next year. Happy New Year Southfork residents.

Tried to get a photo of the Palamino boys but the picture was to dark. Maybe we will get a photo of them at another event. Seems like they were a very big hit and who knows there may be some talent scout looking for this talent here in Southfork. Photos submitted by Jerry McClellan , December 31, 2016

Another Christmas golf cart parade has come and gone. We were blessed with a beautiful evening to see all the brightly lit homes and carts.
