To all the snowbirds who will be leaving shortly, I have a question for you…………..
On a regular basis I, send out emails to the snowbirds when there are any happenings here at Southfork, such as deaths, sickness of a resident etc. during the summer months. If there are any happenings or excitement (hurricanes) here that you would not necessarily know about and would like to be kept up to date, I would gladly put you on my email mailing list.

TOPS NEWS Our TOPS chapter 0849 Southfork is doing great. Three members will be receiving their bracelet for reaching a 10 pound loss. Congratulations to you all. We are a support group and learn so much from the programs each week. Our area captain, Sarah, gave a flip book presentation of Real People for Real Weight Loss on 2/23. You are welcome to come to a meeting any Sat. morning @ 9 o'clock at our Club House & see for yourself what a great group we are.

Women’s Club
On March 6th, 49 ladies met in the clubhouse for their monthly meeting. The clubhouse was decorated by the hostesses for the month, Mary Jean Barber, Pat Dicks and Phyllis Fisher. It looked very festive with the theme of St Patrick’s Day and they purchased a beautiful cake and also a sugar free cake for the birthday people for March who were, Mary Bolin, Pat Dicks, Mary Freund and Donna Elder. The minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer’s reports were read and approved along with all the other committee reports. The upcoming Chili Supper on March 17th was discussed and we have all our cooks and workers ready and everything is under control. We had a few very generous donors who gave us money towards our fundraiser and we will also have many gift certificates to raffle off. All the money made for this fundraiser will be 100% given to the charity committee so they can continue the great work they have been doing. Mary Bolin had asked at the last meeting that she would like to have some stuffed toys to bring to a local nursing home and at this meeting, again the ladies of this park are so very generous , brought two (2) tables loaded with stuffed animals and as usual a car load full of canned goods for Daystar. We also raffled 5 gift bags donated by Tanya Hahn….thank you Tanya for your generosity. We had a speaker from Habitat for Humanity who was very interesting. Did you know that in Pasco County they build 5 to 6 homes a year and what a wonderful thing. One of the families had a young girl who wants to take her “GED” and she had no money and once again the ladies opened their wallet and hearts and donated money for her. Next month we will have a speaker from “Red Cross” and also a lady who will talk on Assisted Living. Out next month hostesses are Sally Auld and Eleanor Dickerson. See you on April 3rd at 9:30am for our next meeting!

SOUTHFORK MENS CLUB Another huuuuuge success. The Men’s Club 1st Monthly Walk 4 Breakfast. We did our first walk February 21st led by our Chairman, Yahootie. We marched thru the park singing “Onward Christian Soldiers” emitting a few complaints from some still sleeping neighbors. So we stopped early after 7 miles of marching and car pooled to our restaurant of choice, selected by a majority vote. After gorging ourselves we were pleasantly surprised that our Chairman, Yahootie, picked up the bill. What a guy. Our March 7th monthly meeting also turned out well. We decided to hold our first annual Men’s Club Steak Out. Members and their guests will meet at the Pavilion Friday, April 5th at 4:00PM for happy hour followed at 5:00PM by a steak dinner. Steaks will be provided by the club and each member is asked to bring one of the dishes listed on the signup sheet which is posted in the club house. Bring your own place setting and beverage. See Jim Barnett for tickets which are $7.00 per person. So see y’all April 4th at the monthly meeting; April 5th at the Steak Out; and April 18th at the Walk 4 Breakfast. Happy Easter, Jim Barnett _____________________________________________________________________________ SHUFFLEBOARD TOURNAMENT Our annual tournament sponsored by the Southfork Men’s Club, was held on Thursday, March 14th. Refreshments were provided by the Men and Women’s Clubs. Thanks to the ladies for their goodies!!!! The tournament consisted of 16 teams of mixed men and women, competing in an elimination contest. The winners were: 1st place: Marvin Dye & Shirley Tiratto 2nd place: Tom Geyer and Mary Freund 3rd place: Les Myers and Mary Jo Dye

STEAK-OUT AN AMBULANCE PROGRAM FUNDRAISER SUNDAY, MAY 12,2013 (Mother’s DAY) 4:00PM, CLUBHOUSE
THIS IS AN ADVANCE SALE TICKETED EVENT, OPEN TO EVERYONE. TICKET SALES ENDING MAY 7TH. The dinner will include steak, baked potato (white or sweet) and a dinner roll. Tickets will be sold at $9.00 per person. Ticket holders will be asked to bring either a salad or a dessert “potluck” style. We will be cooking our own steaks. Multiple grills will be set up for our use. Everyone provides their own place settings and this is a BYOB event. A sign-up & needs sheet will be posted.
