May St. Patrick’s Day bring all you’re hoping for, and where you find a rainbow may you find many more.

May the Good Lord bless you richly all of your days, and touch your life in many beautiful ways.

If anyone sees anything suspicious such as, slow moving vehicles etc. coming through our park especially in the evenings or later hours kind of let your neighbors know to be aware, call Tony Trubiano on the Security Watch and or call the police. Some times that gut feeling is all you need and follow through with it.

It may be a wise idea for any of you walkers who go out in the evenings to be aware of these situations. Also, it might be a wise idea if you have a cell phone, to carry it with you when walking in the evening or extreme early hours in the morning to be able to call for help or let someone know of a possible problem immediately.

(Retirement)

Some days I find nothing on my calendar for the day, A welcomed blank page.

I do not have to watch the clock, I can always be on time.

Since I do not have to be anywhere at any time, It is a day to relax and enjoy life to the fullest.

There is time to relish memories from the past, Time to plan ahead for future goals.

Time to spend with an old friend or a new one.

I treasure an unscheduled day for when unscheduled I am never behind, And I may find time to be ahead later on! _____________________________________________________________________________________

Fruit Trees Remember, now that the fruit is just about gone, please pick any fruit off the ground that has fallen and rotting away, because the rodents love them and will tell their other relatives to visit for a feast.

Sweet Potato apoleons Not just a vegetable, but can be used as a snack!!!!!

2 large sweet potatoes 1 tablespoon butter, melted 2 tablespoons brown sugar Ground Cinnamon Ground Nutmeg 40 miniature marshmallows 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

2. Slice sweet potatoes into ½ inch thick slices.

3. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray coating. Arrange sweet potato slices on baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 20 minutes or until just tender. Reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees. Remove the baking sheet.

4. Blend butter and brown sugar. Add cinnamon and nutmeg to taste; mix well. Brush this mixture onto sweet potato slices. Arrange 4 miniature marshmallows upright on half of the potato slices. Stack the other potato halves on top of the marshmallows.

5. Return to oven and continue baking 2 to 3 minutes or until marshmallows begin to melt.

When done enjoy a sweet treat!!!! ______________________________________________________________________________

2010 Dues are Due Just a reminder that all 2010 Association and Women’s Club dues should be paid. The Association dues are $15.00 per household, Women’s Club dues are $5.00 per person.

All payments can be dropped off in the suggestion box in the lobby of the clubhouse or to Phyllis Grossi, 11150 Mesquite Dr and there is a mailbox outside the door in the carport.

Please make sure to have your name on anything you submit in an envelope.

Remember, that to belong and be in any activities or to be on any committee of either Association or the Women’s Club, you must have your dues paid in full.

from the Association President Dear Friends and Neighbors, Our 2009 Audit has been completed by Jim Barnett, Anita Warschkow and Harvey Barber.

Their reports concluded: The Bingo records correctly reflect the financial status of bingo and commended Marielle Quain for her excellent record keeping. Recommendations from last year’s audit have been implemented.

The Treasurer’s records correctly reflect the financial status of the Association and commended Phyllis Grossi for a fantastic job maintaining the financial records. Her records are efficiently organized, she has reviewed hundreds of documents, made hundreds of entries, prepared hundreds of receipts and other documents all without making a single error. That’s about as good as it can get.

As you can see, Jim, Anita and Harvey were impressed.

When Jim gave the report at our Feb 15th board meeting, he went on to say that another person, Jim Morvatz, should be recognized for the purchases at the best prices and record keeping when he is preparing for, Wednesday’s by the Pool.

Our Association is truly blessed to have Phyllis, Marielle and Jim volunteering so many, many hours!!!!!

18th - St Patrick’s Pot Luck - It is important to sign up. If you do not want to cook, there will be an opportunity to donate $5.00 (per person) for Corn Beef and Cabbage etc. There will be a short program of Irish Dancers following the supper dinner.

23rd - Out and About - is planning a trip to N.A.S.A, please sign up 25th - Annual Shuffleboard tournament - 16 men and 16 women needed. Please sign up 27th - Annual Recycle cookout - please sign up 29th & 30th - AARP safe driving course. 9 to 1 each day. $12 for AARP members $14 for non-members Class size limited - so sign up early

I don’t know which one of you brought this cold weather back here with you, but if this is your idea of getting even it worked!!!! Ha Ha I guess we will have a lot of new plants to plant and we will be loving the 80 & 90 degree days coming in June.

The big dumpster was a good idea but we had some people misuse it and put paint, used oil, batteries, computers, tv’s etc. in it which caused a problem for the trash man as he had to sort it and take the items not allowed to another sight for disposal.

Maybe we can set February each year aside and bring a big unit in for a month if it does not get abused.

Thank you for your co-operation in the R.V. storage area. It is much easier to maintain when everybody abides by the rules.

Take over a baked treat or stop by to say “hello” Volunteer to read or just sit and talk to someone in Hospice or a shut-in.

One act a week would be great. You never know when you might be the recipient!

Women’s Club On February 3rd, 53 ladies met in the clubhouse that was nicely decorated in red for Valentine’s Day. The hostesses were Kathy Gallick, Judy Geyer, Sherry Glatfelter and Dixie Logoyda. Thanks for a job well done!

The reports were read and approved. Don Duarte sent us a letter to thank the Women’s Club for the support that we gave him and to his family at the memorial for Georgia. We thank him for his generous donation of $200.00 and that will help other families.

We had a speaker from East Pasco Habitat for Humanity who came with an assistant. They were very interesting and answered many questions from our members. A check of $100.00 was given to them for Habitat.

We had the recognition of the Secret Pal group and new Secret pals were chosen for the new year.

Carol Albers played a game of Trivia and it was a lot of fun.

On March 13th, we will have a Chili supper with a Mystery auction with 2 sauve auctioneers. The ladies are working very hard at it.

Please come and support us. The menu is Chili with Crusty bread, Salad and Cake for dessert. The tickets are $5.00 in advance and at the door they will be $6.00. I still have a few tickets left.

Next month our Hostesses will be Brenda Knight, Carol Reno and Ginger Shanbeck.

After the meeting the Books of the our treasurer were audited by Pat Lynch and Anita Warschkow and everything was perfect. The books balanced with all the proper receipts for every transaction.

Attention Southfork Golf Groups We here in Southfork have many new residents who have moved here in the last couple of years and many have questioned how to get in contact with a person about information for the various golf groups.

All of you who play golf each week with a group and are the contact person, if you would be so kind as to submit the days, times, contact person etc. this information can be put on the bulletin board at the clubhouse for all to see.

Also, if there is a standard day and time each week, this information can be put into the newsletter calendar for all to have. This should be for both women’s and men’s groups.

The newsletter would be a good way of promoting this sport to all the golf enthusiasts and also a way of showing good team spirit amongst the players. If you want, we could on a monthly basis list all or anything that golf players would want to hear and places and course’s that you play on.

We look forward to hearing from you!!!!

BI GO 1st Birthday Toast to the new “Bingo Machine” After all the trials and tribulations and much controversy by some, the new “Bingo Machine” has been in operation for 1 year now. On February 10th, there was a grand celebration to show how much we really appreciated this New Board and Bingo Machine that was purchased by the bingo patrons with their weekly donations towards the fundraising and with the help of Scott Heiler.

All the tables had a bottle of sparkling (non-alcoholic) grape juice on them. There were 40 people in attendance and for this festive occasion everyone brought some kind of finger food (3 tables full plus.)

There was enough food to feed the entire community and boy was it delicious. After the toast and before the games began everyone got to go and fill up a plate of food and then at half time a decorated cake was cut and again everyone got to eat again. Bright House came with gifts for everyone (Cloth bags & a Bingo Dabber) and also door prizes. During intermission we had 5 games of nickel bingo and that was also a lot of fun and some good winnings. If you like Bingo, come and join us on Wednesday evenings and the doors open at 5:30pm and the bingo starts at 6:30pm.

Southfork Residents Issue Challenge At the recent annual Southfork Homeowners Association meeting, a motion was made to make a donation to a fund to help the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. After discussion and a positive vote it was decided to donate $100 from the treasury. When approached by the board, Norm, the park manager offered to match the donation. The Women’s Club, The Men’s Club along with the donations from other residents, raised a grand total of $505.

An article was then placed in the Park News in Zephryhills to challenge other parks in the area to match Southfork’s donation to such a worthy cause. Hopefully a cooperative effort from other parks in the area will also generate a sizable contribution to the fund to help the residents of Haiti to recuperate from this disaster and rebuild their nation.

Also, at the same meeting, a Southfork resident stated that her church and minister had an established drive to collect clothing to also be sent to Haiti to help those in need. Several boxes of clothing were collected in the Southfork clubhouse and moved to the church to be sent to Haiti.

The Officers and the Board of Directors would once again like to thank the members of the Association, Southfork Management, Residents who made personal donations, The Southfork Women’s Club and the Southfork Men’s Club for their combined contributions to the Haiti Relief Fund.

It is always heartwarming to come together to accomplish good things.

There will be a Mystery Auction also being held in conjunction with this dinner and proceeds will be 50% for Charity and 50% for the Women’s Club.

Out and About III Fly me to the Moon Kennedy Space Center Tuesday, March 23, 2010 “Houston, we have a problem” “The Eagle has landed” “One small step for man” How can we ever forget those words…?

Most of us have enjoyed watching launches here in the park.

Some have watched from the coast, but, a lot of us have not visited the Cape.

NASA shuttle buses will move us from site to site. Informative guides will Direct us through the different facilities and presentations. I understand they have a new exhibition called “The Shuttle Launch Experience” which enables everyone to experience the sounds, feelings and sights in an actual space launch. I have been told that you need about six hours to see everything, plus time for lunch.

Let’s take a bus!!!!!

The $67.00/person cost includes entrance and exhibit fees of $39.00/person, including The I-Max Theaters.

Lunch on your own. The bus will load at 7:00am from Southfork and return about 6:30pm.

OTE: The bus requirement is 46 people min., 54 people max…

A smaller 40 person bus is also an option.

OTE: If we can not meet the bus requirement, we will car pool, leaving Southfork at 8:00am As of 2/16/10, we have 25 people signed up for the bus!

Our “CUT_OFF” date for this event is March 4th.

SOUTHFORK CLUBHOUSE Transformed Into Locker Room For Super Bowl On Sunday night, February 7th, the Southfork Clubhouse was turned into a locker room for the first Annual Men's Club Super Bowl Party.

Team colors for the +ew Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts dominated the clubhouse while team jerseys from other AFL and +FL teams completed the decorations.

Some Southfork football legends such as "Pretty Boy" Peltier, "Bad Boo Boo" Downs and Cathy "Crusher" Gallick were also seen mingling with the super bowl revelers. "Terrible" Tony Trubiano was also spotted in the mass of celebrities.

Delicious Tailgate snacks were brought and enjoyed by over thirty fans in attendance and several lucky gamesters went home with some nice cash prizes.

And the +ew Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31 to 17!
