We as a community want to thank Netta for all her hard work on the past newsletters over the last couple of years. She has had everyone laughmg and looking forward to the next newsletter with all the latest gossi~ in her "Netta's News" column. When we were bored, many of us would look back on some of her columns for a laugh and I hope she knows that she will be truly missed. I have asked Netta to every now and then, give an article for the newsletter and I am sure she will reciprocate. Again THANK YOU SO VERY Netta.

From the Association President

By the time you ail receive this issue of the newsletter, I will have officially resigned as president of the association. Reason being that I have had surgery with some much needed recovery and I can not fill this position as president as I should be doing, and because I will be on such intensive get well program, I will not be able to do all the things I had planned. I have enjoyed being a part of this Board and I have enjoyed the many activities. I want to thank everyone for their loyal support and help whenever asked or needed. I wish the best to Ernie Sluder (Vice President) and to his success for the rest of the current year.

Just another note, Sue and I will be stepping down as Hotdog/Hamburg chair people for the cookouts on Wednesday evenings.

Due to taking care of my husband during his recovery and loosing some momentum as Activities Director, I also am resigning this position. I will help with any activity that I can. I have an organized notebook for basic planning, entertainers, trips, etc. I did submit a tentative schedule for August-December at the last Board meeting.

Association Board Highlights Since the beginning of the calendar year and under direction of our new president, there have been changes made regarding rules and procedures of the officers and board members. Probably the most significant is the fact that we have held monthly board meetings throughout the summer months and basically we now meet year-round. We have only two (2) members who are designated "snow birds" and have made the trip north for the summer! Therefore, we feel that it is the consensus of the group that there is a feeling of well-being among the current members, we feel free to express our individual feelings and input our different ideas (which we put to use on a continuing basis) and in turn,this has promoted a sense of camaraderie in promoting activities and ideas that will hopefully work to the betterment of all park residents. Every effort is given to try to anticipate the participation of the members and we strive to include as much diversity as we can. Our dream would be to have one-hundred percent membership within the park, and to also have people eager to take the initiative of either "doing" or "helping" with the various activities! Imagine the enthusiasm and ideas that could come to fruition in such an atmosphere!!!!

WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY!

On Wednesday May 14", I observed twelve (12) people in the pool at one time and no one had showered before entering the pool. This is a rule that is necessary because the body oils and lotions plug up filters. "PLEASE" shower before you enter our pool.

On June 1 I", the health department came through the park and we were cited for a number of homes not having a back flow preventor on the hose connection outside on the houses. These were supplied with the homes when they were new, but some how have been removed. If your home does not have one, please install one at your earliest convenience. They may be purchased at a hardware store or Lowes or Home Depot.

Some one is still flushing adult "Depends" down their toilets. "PLEASE DON'T." It is a difficult problem and if there is a way for me to find out who is doing this, I will send them a bill for the removal of these items from our lift pumps, and if you would please, place them in a plastic bag and place them in the trash, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is one of the factors that makes our lot rent increase. If you know of anyone who uses "Depends" or any other disposable underwear, please advise them that they are not to be flushed down toilets, please flush only toilet tissue. If you have any visitors who may use these items, please advise them of this rule.

The ladies of the Women's Club are having a good time together and enjoying everyone's company. We were very active this summer and we started in June by going to the "Golden Corral" where you always have a large variety of good food. In July we had our meeting at the pool side with all kind of pastries. In August we went to "John's Steakhouse" for a good meal. As you can see we were on the go and having a wonderful time.

The charity committee headed by Shirley Rouer and Mary Bolin were very active and now need school supplies to be distributed to Lacoochee School. As you can see the Women's Club is doing some good in the community.

November 15th,we will have our annual bazaar in the clubhouse helping us replenishing our funds. The Quilters headed by Fran Armstrong and Marcie Emley are ready and they have quilted a lot of beautiful items. The Yarn Hookers headed by Phyllis Grossi are like busy bees working every week making wonderful things for the bazaar. With the help of these committees our bazaar should be a success.

Do not forget your secret pal and it sure is a lot of fun to receive something and wonder who sent that to you. I understand that if your secret pal is up North, the Post Office will not accept a parcel without a return address. I suggest that you put on the return: From S.P. c/o Southfork, 10852 Tumbleweed Dr, Dade City, F1 33525 and that will do the trick. This way it will still be a secret.

Jim Pelltier, president of our Association had an episode in the Dade City Hospital and we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.

In September we are back in the Clubhouse and the meeting will be at 10:OOam instead of 9:30am. After the meeting we will have Hot DogslHamburgs and the summer will have come and gone already. The yam hookers are looking for items to be donated for ow bazaar table in November, so if you have anything handmade such as crocheting or knitting we would love to have them. We as a group have been working all year on a community afghan to be raffled and many other items.

Come join us on Thursday evenings at the club house at 6:30pm each week. We would love to have you. Any questions or items contact, Phyllis Grossi or Ginger Shanbeck.

Southfork Bazaar

Ow annual bazaar scheduled for Nov 15" (which is about 10 weeks away), therefore, I want to make an appeal for all Southfork residents to help us make it a successful event.

We need your help in the following areas.

1. Donations for ow Raffle table (New items only to raffle.)

2. Donations for ow white elephant area. We will collect your gently used items for this area beginning Oct 1,2008 We will have a phone contact in ow October newsletter for any items that you want us to pick up. The woman's club appreciates your help in putting this event together.

Also, is there anyone who like to teach someone how to use the computer in their own homes? GAME OF THE MONTH Every Saturday evening at 7pm the game of "65" is played. For this game all you need is 22 nickels and 2 dimes. Every hand there is a winner and for each game you play there will be 1I hands. It is a mixed group of men and women and a lot of laughs. There is a lot of teasing and of course we have the challenge of the many men against the women. At the beginning of the night we draw table numbers and that is how we are seated and you never know who will be seated at each table which makes it a lot of fun. This is a year round get together and when the snowbirds get back we sometimes have up to 4 tables of 7 or 8 people at each table which makes for an enjoyable evening. So if you want something to do on a Saturday evening and you like to play cards, this is the game for you. We will show you how to play, (for the fvst timers ) and afler a couple of hands you are already a pro at the game. We look forward to seeing you there and all of you new residents this is a good way to start meeting your fellow neighbors.

Shuffleboard Looking for new and old shuffleboard players.. .. Join us everyday, Monday through Saturday mornings at 9:OOAM. Note there will be time changes when all the snowbirds get back and it starts to get cooler. It's an easy activity to learn for anyone who has never played, and an old favorite for those of you that used to bum up the court. So, come one come all, good exercise and good fun!
