Here’s to 2012 for each and every one of you, may it be filled with significant steps toward the fulfillm fulfillment of your fondest wishes. In this coming new year, let us focus on our goals and work toward our dreams, and yet (smile) let’s all try to go with the flow a little more and stress a little less. And most important, (raise your glass), here’s to all of you.
Since last January, 2011,, your board has worked diligently and was available to work with all the residents to help voice issues and concerns to be brought to management. Do you have a plan to make Southfork a better place to live and socialize in? Do you want “change?” Do you have any community events that you wish you had more influence over? Do you have any ideas you’d like to see implemented? Are you on a committee or a board member and would like to have more prominence? Here’s an opportunity to become more active in our community. So, don’t on’t sit back and complain after the fact, come and join the forces!!!!
Appreciate yourselves and each other in the N New Year as I appreciate all of you now. Let’s focus on each other’s good points and choose to overlook minor annoyances annoyances, to create mutual happiness and contentment in 2012.
As a board member, your ur voice will be heard and counted on for important issues and also being on a committee will help anything that affects our community association.

Annual Association Dues The annual Association Dues must be paid by January 15, 2012. In order to vote or nominate for the elections of any Board Member at the January Annual Membership meeting, you must be a member in good standing and the amount owed is $20.00 for the year. Contact Phyllis Grossi or deliver to 11150 Mesquite Dr or place dues payment in the Association Suggestion box in the lobby of the Clubhouse. This year they can also be paid at the Membership Dinner on January 7th, 2012.
Southfork Annual Association Meeting
What: Our annual homeowner’s meeting is a chance to meet new neighbors, catch up with old friends and discuss local issues. This January meeting has been designated by our by-laws to be the first meeting of the fiscal year with the election of new officer’s and directors. Please plan to attend and learn what’s happening in Southfork!

Why: It’s your neighborhood, too! With our combined efforts, we can continue to make our community a better social environment with better communication to everyone. We need everyone’s support to help and vote on issues that everyone is happy with! It is next to impossible to please everyone but there are ways to try and appease most of the people. If there is anyone who is interested in being an officer or run as a director your name must be handwritten in on the already printed ballot because nominations were closed at the November membership meeting! Who: You, the homeowners, must have your yearly dues paid by January 15th in order to vote for any new officer/director’s. The annual yearly dues is $20.00 per household and only one (1) member of each household is eligible to vote. Submit payment to treasurer (Phyllis Grossi) @ 567-6105, or drop off at 11150 Mesquite Dr or place in the suggestion box in the lobby of the clubhouse. How: No need to RSVP, just show up! Reason: We need more then one candidate for each office to run. If there is only 1 person for each office with no competition, elections will be held and the slate is automatically given to the only ones listed for each office. So, if you want “change” this is the time to do it!!! Please, come and submit your name or your ideas.
From the Managers Christmas Lights … Everywhere! We are impressed with how festive Southfork looks for Christmas. Not only does the clubhouse look great but so do many of the homes throughout the community. We’re glad we don’t have to judge who has the “best” decorated home. We would like to thank Andrew and Tommy for the great job they did on the lighting of the outside of clubhouse and to the “crew” that decorated the inside of the clubhouse. For us, Christmas is a special time of year and we (especially Sandi) like to decorate for the season. So, thank you Southfork for doing such a great job in “lighting up” for Christmas! Want To Go Swimming? As you know, because the pool is heated, we cover it when it gets chilly, especially if the nighttime temperatures are going to drop below the mid 60°. If the weather looks good, we will be glad to open the pool for those who would like to go swimming; just come to the office and ask us. If we are not in the office (like weekends), you are welcome to uncover the pool and enjoy, but just remember to cover it when you are through. The heater will not keep the pool up to temperature if the air temperature drops into the low 60’s. Fall Cleanup Last year it had been suggested to contract for a dumpster that the residents could use for debris, brush, etc during the fall and spring. What we would like to try is to have the residents either leave the brush and trimmings for the trash pick-up on Wed. or Sat. or, if necessary, use the existing dumpster for your yard waste. All we ask is that you let us know if you have yard waste you would like to put in the dumpster just so we can keep on top of it and to know when we need to call for an extra pick-up. We feel it would be more economical to have to call for extra pick-ups than to contract for a roll-off container. This will also give us an idea of how much waste we may need to deal with during the clean-up season. Just a Friendly Reminder - Don’t Forget To Pay Those Government Charges! The annual fees assessed by Pasco County are due by January 1, payable to Southfork Mobile Home Community. This year they are $98.04 but you can deduct $2.00 if postmarked by January 5. And please don’t be later than January 31 because we will have to assess a late charge if we receive your payment after that date (and we really don’t like assessing late charges). Reminder - Resident Referral Program. Just a reminder again that we have instituted a resident referral program where you, as a resident, can earn up to $500 if you refer someone who buys a home in Southfork. But remember this is a limited time program which is scheduled to end Feb. 29, 2012. You may have already seen the flyers that explain what the program is about but if you haven’t, or even if you have, please come by the office and ask about this great opportunity! By now there should be new chairs in the club house! At our December Association meeting members chose the new chairs. The Heiler family shared the cost of the new ones, handled the shipping etc. and purchased our old chairs. January 7th – MEMBERSHIP DINNER at 5 p.m. You can join anytime during the year, but if you pay your dues by January 7th you, your spouse or a guest can enjoy a dinner served by the officers of the Association. See the full page description! January 23rd - Association Annual Meeting and Election of Officers and Directors will take place. There will be a prepared ballot of those who were nominated at our December meeting and spaces for write-ins. It is not to late for anyone who is interested in becoming part of the Association team. January 27th - Health Fair from 9 to 2 Local hospitals and agencies who provide our needed services will be at our club house. There will be a blood mobile here also. Door prizes and refreshments too! Please plan to attend !!!! See the full page description. February 14th - will be a special evening! If you have been blessed to live more than 90 years, we would very much like to honor you as one of our “Sweethearts of 2012”……………………everyone is invited to attend, there will be more details in our February newsletter. Women’s Club
On December 7th, 44 ladies met at the Clubhouse for their Christmas meeting The Minutes and the Treasurers reports were read and approved. A report on the Bazaar was given and everyone was very pleased with the outcome. Once more the community came together to make it a success. The Charity portion of money collected will allow us to help a lot of people in Dade City. The Charity Committee believes in helping our own first, for instance at the moment of this writing, Mary Bolin is collecting food for 24 families for Christmas. Shirley Rouer of the Charity Committee will try to get Bob Williams for our next meeting in January and he is the one responsible for sending packages to the troops. He is in great need for postage money. A list was circulated to get “Hostesses” for each month of 2012 for the monthly meetings. At the end of business we had a visit from Santa Claus who appeared and distributed all the Christmas gifts and it was a lot of fun. On top of the gifts, Tanya Hahn donated to us, 4 bags of Avon products to be raffled off. Thank you Tanya and you have a heart of gold. We also made 12 others happy when the club raffled off 12 gift certificates valued at $10.00 each. After the meeting we all left to for a nice Christmas luncheon at the Golden Corral which the Women’s club picked up the tab as a Thank You to all who have volunteered or helped in any way and for just being a member during the year of 2011. Now the year is over and we will have our first meeting of year 2012 on January 4th at 9:30am. By the way, if you have not paid your yearly dues of $5.00, please bring it with you to the meeting. What a bargain for $5.00……………….. We will also have our election for a new board and I hope all of you will be here for this. Southfork Men’s Club The Men’s Club gathered at the Golden Corral on Dec. 15th and conducted an informal meeting and enjoyed a Christmas lunch. We had a great turnout! Again, we talked about a dance or party, hopefully in the month of January, 20l2. Sign up at the clubhouse and join in an evening of fun and music. We are collecting dues for the year 2012, so please see Pete, our Treasurer, at the next meeting. On January 5th we will have a meeting at 9:00AM at the clubhouse. We welcomed another new member in the month of December. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION FOR EVERYONE This year seems different somehow, despite the traditions and holidays as they have been for years some families have lost loved ones, gained new grandchildren etc, that’s part of life. Expected losses and gains have made the year memorable as we close the calendar of 2011. There is something different in the air with the political parties, economy, job losses and fear of not knowing what the future holds for all of us. Fear, but also patriotism and it’s time for America to change back into the nation it once was and always has been. This calls for a New Year’s resolution for everyone. Love your neighbor. Cherish your family. Appreciate your Country (USA) for its rights, its freedom and its values. This is a resolution everyone should be thinking about now. The world has changed, America has changed and so must we………………………. Happy New Years to all!!! ACTIVITIES CHAIRPEOPLE Here are a few of the responsibilities of a monthly chairperson which we do not have and would like to have. We would like to have at least 1 chairperson a month for the entire year to schedule the various activities. If more then 1 person per month comes forward that is okay too because we need co-chairpeople and workers. All residents are encouraged to come with your help and suggestions. 1. In charge of a monthly planning meeting (you run the meeting but everyone can give helpful suggestions) 2. Use sign-up sheets (List the activity, date, times, fee if any) 3. Recruit some people to help 4. Have a calling committee to make reservations etc 5. Have a setup committee or ask for volunteers HERE LISTED ARE A FEW ACTIVITIES THAT SOMEONE MIGHT CONSIDER TO CHAIR:

ANNUAL HAND AND FOOT TOURNAMENT SATURDAY, JANUARY 21st, 2012 AT 11AM. There will be cash prizes and the sign up sheet is on the bulletin board. Deadline for signing up is January 13th, 2012. RECIPE: SEAFOOD PIE FOR DUMMIES *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
INGREDIENTS: 2 cups milk 6 ounces frozen crab, shrimp, or tuna 1 cup sharp American cheese; shredded 3 ounces cream cheese; in 1/4-inch cubes 1/4 cup green onions; thinly sliced 1 cup Bisquick 4 eggs 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 dash nutmeg
DIRECTIONS:
Thaw, rinse well and drain the seafood. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease 10-inch pie plate. Mix seafood, cheeses and onions in pie plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth, 15 sec. in blender at high speed. Pour over ingredients in pie plate. Bake until golden brown and knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean, 35-40 min. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting. (refrigerate any remaining pie). Yield: 6-8 servings

This is another restaurant we have not been to but was told it was a great place to eat. These people decided to do some errands at the Grove Shopping Center when what should appear a restaurant two blocks further on the right side, heading west on RT 54. Buffalo’s Southwest Café is definitely not a Weight Watcher type restaurant, but if you’ve been very, very good for a long time, it is a treat for the taste buds. The food was very good, as was the service. The menu is varied with an emphasis on Southwestern cuisine. You will find many of the standards including fajitas, quesadillas and burritos. There are many interesting salads, six types of wonderful burgers and at least as many kinds of sauces to put on your chicken wings. The menu includes appetizers, lunch specials and dinner entrees. Two could eat for under $20.00.

I am running out of names of restaurants to place in the monthly issue of the newsletter and there are many residents, groups etc whom go out to eat on a weekly, daily basis and you all must have some good ideas as to what I can place in the newsletters as a good place to eat. When you go out to eat, ask for a take out menu and come back and give to me (Phyllis). Just let me know if it is good, good service or any thing special about it and I will do the rest. CHRISTMAS COMES TO SOUTHFORK

Due to waning interest in Southfork's Annual Golf Cart Christmas Parade, a new tack was taken concerning a 2011Christmas celebration. Fourty eight Southfork residents came to the clubhouse to enjoy our 2011 Christmas show. Jolly Joe Koziol, a SF resident and former professional entertainer started the program with several Christmas stylings on his new digital accordion. Then the master of ceremonies took the stage to entertain the audience with some Christmas jokes and anecdotes. A little later five random members from the audience were cajoled to come to the stage for an impromptu question and answer session concerning their family Christmas traditions, and their fondest memories of Christmas.. The answers and comments to the questions from the five members of the panel brought both smiles and tears as others in the assembly thought about their own Chrismases past. The last question to the panel was about their favorite Christmas Carols and after that Jolly Joe favored the audience with his rendition of those carols and encouraged the guests to sing along. When the singing stopped the attendees were treated to coffee, hot chocolate, punch cookies and other Christmas treats. Following another short musical interlude Santa Claus magically appeared and passed out gifts from the gift exchange items. Many ladies (and men) were seen sitting on Santa's lap and trying to bribe him into a nicer Christmas gift. The party ended with another short round of music and a thank you from the Association President Dot Cady to anyone who had volunteered or attended to help the make the event another Southfork success.
HELP WANTED Your Southfork Homeowner's Association needs your help! Are you “bored out of your gourd� and need something to do? Do you have a special skill from your past that might benefit your neighbor or our community? Your association is going to post a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board at the clubhouse and give you a chance to be active doing something that you excel in and at the same time possibly make you some extra $$$ or just give you a chance to showcase your talents and help out your friends and neighbors. Your association knows that there are many, many residents here in Southfork that have special talents or skills. If you are a former butcher, baker, candlestick maker, banker, doctor, nurse, lawyer, carpenter, cabinet maker, educator, homemaker, astronaut, miner, bookkeeper, secretary, surgeon, grocer, farmer, electrician, plumber, roofer, business owner, weaver, draftsman, pilot, city clerk, policeman, poet, mural painter, costumer, G-man, dance instructor, wall paper hanger, piano tuner, opera singer, hunter, fur trapper, saw mill operator, car mechanic, drawbridge operator, astro-physicist, seamstress, ditch digger, librarian, dulcimer player or any other useful profession please fill out the sign-up sheet that has been posted in the clubhouse foyer. The association will put that information into some kind of order and then post it on the bulletin board so that anyone that can use your skill can contact you. Your association will not claim a percentage of any deals made and will not be responsible for any transactions made whatsoever in any way, shape or form. After Christmas Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house, nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I’d nibbled, the eggnog I’d taste, At the holiday parties all had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number, when I walked to the store (less a walk than a number) I’d remember the marvelous meals I’d prepared, the gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared. The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese, and the way I’d never said, “No thank you, please.” As I dressed myself in my husband’s old shirt and prepared once again to do battle with dirt, I said to myself as I only can, “You can’t spend a winter disguised as a man! So away with the last of the sour cream dip, get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food that I like must be banished. “Till all the additional ounces have vanished” I won’t have a cookie, not even a lick. I’ll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won’t have hot biscuits or corn bread or pie. I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I’m hungry, I’m lonesome and life is a bore, but isn’t that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot, Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
HOMELESS AND HUNGRY We here in Southfork are so lucky to have many people who donate their time, money and efforts to the hungry, homeless, nursing homes, churches etc. in this Dade City area and they are our unsung heroes. Our own Women’s Club volunteers, on a monthly, weekly basis, donates many items including money and food and clothing and time to the unfortunate. At one of our local churches here in Dade City they feed upwards to 50 people weekly and are always looking for the donations of food so they have enough to give out. It was brought to our attention that there are people who do not need this hand out and live right in our own community and go there on a weekly basis to take some of the food given out and this includes the many whom also eat in food kitchens in the area. This only takes away from the people who really need food and most are the homeless and elderly and living on almost nothing. This local church does not and will not refuse anyone if they come to their doors for a handout!!!! So I ask and plead with all of you, please in your heart be willing to give and not be a taker who is trying to get something for nothing!
