Here’s to the outgoing year, 2011. May the good times live on in our memories, and may we learn lessons from the troubling times that will make us stronger and better than ever.

Here’s to 2012 for each and every one of you, may it be filled with significant steps toward the fulfillment of your fondest wishes.

In this coming new year, let us focus on our goals and work toward our dreams, and yet (smile) let’s all try to go with flow a little more and stress a little less. And most important, (raise your glass), here’s to all of you. Appreciate yourselves and each other in the New Year. Let’s focus on each other’s good points and choose to overlook minor annoyances, mutual happiness and contentment in 2012.

At Lake Hammock Village, a certain energy and excitement is felt in each and every new day. The residents of our park display a can-do attitude. The activities will help to ensure future happiness and contentment for our residents beyond words. So please, make this a successful year and please join the many groups, committees and association to ensure a pleasing place to live and have fun here in Lake Hammock Village.

Planned Activities for January 2012 This month the events are being hosted by various residents. Some of the activities are still in need of a host. If you can help out by hosting an event please sign up in the clubhouse.

Monday, January 2nd – Patrol meeting 4:00 PM in the clubhouse.

Tuesday, January 3rd will be the HOA Board meeting at 7:00 PM. Wednesday, January 4th - Early Bird Dining – Hurricane Grill & Wings (6370 Cypress Garden Blvd., Winter Haven) - Carpool 4:30 PM..

The Activity Committee will gather at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 5th in the

Crafts – Monday, January 9th at 2:00 PM. We will be making picture frames. The cost will be $3 for each frame.

Wednesday, January 11th is our Potluck Supper at 5:30 PM. Please bring a covered dish enough to serve at least 8 people and your own tableware. We need someone to host this event.

Birthdays and Anniversaries celebration is Sunday, January 15th at 6:30 PM at the clubhouse followed by a movie at 7:00 PM. We need someone to host this event.

Tuesday, January 17th will be the Annual HOA meeting at 7:00 PM. We will be electing new board members and voting on the legal fund. Make sure your annual 2012 dues are paid by January 7, 2012 in order to vote.

Saturday, January 21st come and join other LHV residents for breakfast out at R-Place Eatery, 35523 U.S. HWY 27N. Meet there at 8:30 AM. Dining by the Book (Enjoyment Book) on Monday, January 23rd- Tanner’s Pub (325 Central Ave, Winter Haven). Carpooling from clubhouse 4:30 PM. Ladies Lunch will be on Thursday, January 26th at Cakes for the Memories (31 6th St, Haines City). Carpooling at noon. You will need to preselect your meal.

If you sign up for any dinners/lunch and you can’t make it please call the activities chair for that month and cancel so the reservations can be changed.

You Are Invited What: Our annual homeowner’s meeting is a chance to meet new neighbors, catch up with old friends and discuss Lake Hammock issues. This meeting has been designated by our bylaws to be the first meeting of the fiscal year with the election of new LHV Board of Directors, 2012 Budget, LHV HOA Legal Fund and any other issues that arise the night of the meeting. Please plan to attend and learn what’s happening in Lake Hammock Village!

Where: Lake Hammock Village Clubhouse, January 17, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Why: It’s your neighborhood, too! With our combined efforts, we can continue to make our community a better social environment with better communication to everyone. We need everyone’s support to help and vote on issues that the majority are happy with! It is next to impossible to please everyone but there are ways to try and appease most of the people.

If there is anyone who is interested in being on the HOA Board your name may be nominated from the floor the night of the meeting.

Who: You, the homeowners, must have your yearly 2012 dues paid by January 7th in order to vote for any new HOA Board Members or issues. The annual yearly dues are $15.00 per household and only one (1) member of each household is eligible to vote. Submit payment to treasurer (Reta Cramer) @ 189 Glen Este Blvd.

How: No need to RSVP, just show up!

Cathy & I would like to thank the Lake Hammock Management, Board of Directors, and the 86 souls that attended the first Lake Hammock Village Christmas Cantata.

We are grateful to the Lord for the Caring-Compassionate-Cooperation and Commitment that was abundantly exhibited by everyone. Not only were we Blessed, but together 207 food items and $10.00 in cash will Bless others through A House Blest.

Our prayer for our community here at Lake Hammock Village is this uplifting Spirit of Unity will continue in 2012!

Thank you again everyone for making this Christmas Cantata so special!

LAKE HAMMOCK VILLAGE MEMORIAL SERVICE MARCH 11, 2012

This is a Memorial Service to honor those close family members and neighbors who have deceased in the preceding years. Every effort will be made to insure that no name will be omitted. To realize this goal, we need your immediate help. If you have close loved ones or know former residents that have passed, we need that information as soon as possible.

Linda Martin is coordinating the collection of names of those to be remembered in the Memorial Service Roll Call. Please email her at lmartin270@tampabay.rr.com or call her at 863-422-1307.

The information needed will be the deceased name, month and year of death and relationship to the provider (spouse, child, neighbor, etc.) and name of provider. Some guidelines will be as follows: 

Close relatives only-spouse, children, or other close family members or former residents



If possible, get permission from any living relatives to have the loved ones name included in the Memorial Service Roll Call. If permission cannot be obtained, ask yourself if they (the deceased) would want to be included in this Memorial Service.



On this first Memorial Service we will receive names from all years past.

LAKE HAMMOCK VILLAGE PRAYER TEAM Thank you to those who have signed up for the LHV PRAYER TEAM. There is always the opportunity for you to join us.

Anyone can submit Prayer Requests. The requests will be kept confidential as only general information will be used such as medical test, procedures, surgery, family members etc. no specific information will be used.

The Prayer Requests are to be submitted to Cathy Strohmaier. The phone numbers are 863-419-2699 (home) 863-295-2358 (cell) or email cathy.strohmaier@gmail.com. The requests are then forwarded to the Prayer Team via email (or phone) for them to pray for the requested person & their needs.

Legal Fund Proposals At the 2012 Annual Meeting of the LHV-HOA the subject of the legal fund will be addressed. The Board of Directors has made a recommendation for changes to the legal fund as have several other members. None of the proposals can be voted on until first made as a motion and then seconded. Any or all of the following may or may not be presented for a vote. These proposals are presented here only for your information.

Numbers have been assigned in order received.

PROPOSAL #1 – Legal fund be limited to $8,000 plus accrued interest. Current legal

fund to be divided with $8,000 to be new legal fund, $2,000 to be emergency fund, remainder added to current year’s budget.

PROPOSAL #2 – Leave legal fund alone. Continue to annually transfer any funds in excess of $2,000 in checking account to legal fund.

PROPOSAL #3 - Legal Fund limited to $5,000 plus accrued interest. If needed, any additional legal funds to be raised by assessment on all lot renters, with liens placed on homes of those not in compliance. No emergency fund. Remainder of legal fund to be transferred to general fund. HOA funds used for any one entertainment not to exceed $150.

PROPOSAL #4 - $2,000 of current legal fund be transferred to general savings. $3.00 of each payment for annual dues be added to legal fund. Board of Directors able to transfer additional funds to either legal fund or general savings.

PROPOSAL #5 – Divide current legal fund, $8,000 to new legal fund, $4,000 to general savings. Funds raised by “share the wealth” (50/50 drawings) be added to legal fund.

Annually, funds in excess of $2,000 in checking be divided equally between legal fund and general savings account. Additional money could be added as needed to legal fund by a majority vote of dues paying members.

PROPOSAL #6 – Leave current money in legal fund. Stop annual transfer of funds in excess of $2,000 in checking to legal fund.

These proposals have been brought forth and are presented here for your consideration without comment. Similar motions may possibly be presented at the annual meeting.

These two cakes were made for Birthday/Anniversary celebrations Banana Strawberry Cake 1 10 inch angel food cake 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup sliced strawberries 1 cup heavy cream whipped

1/2 cup dairy sour cream 1/4 cup crushed strawberries 1/4 cups sliced bananas Strawberry halves

Slice cake crosswise into 3 equal layers. Combine sour cream, sugar and crushed strawberries. Fold sliced strawberries, 3/4 cup of bananas and sour cream mixture into whipped cream. Chill 30 minutes until mixture thickens a little. Spread about 1/2 cup mixture on each layer including top. Stack lawyers. Chill. To serve, garnish top of cake with remanding banana slices and strawberry halves. Cut into cake with electric knife.

Homemade Rum Cake 1 box yellow cake mix

½ cup water

1 small box cook and serve vanilla pudding

½ cup vegetable oil

4 eggs

½ cups rum

½ cup chopped pecans Spray tube/Bundt pan with Pam. Sprinkle nuts over bottom. Mix and beat other ingredients for 2 minutes. Pour over nuts. Bake 50-60 minutes at 325*.

Rum Glaze: 1 cup sugar

¼ cup water

¼ cup rum

1 stick butter

Boil together for 3 minutes. Pour around the edges of the tube pan with the hot cake in pan. Let stand 30 minutes. Remove from pan.

Night, trip to casino ship, live entertainment, pot luck dinners, golf cart rally b) Legal Fund: The suggestions that have been turned in so far: 1. Board of Directors recommends to the Annual Meeting that the Legal Fund as established by the 2002 Annual Meeting be amended to provide for a maximum Dedicated Legal Fund of $8,000 plus accrued interest. $2,000 from the current Legal Fund be transferred to a new Emergency Fund and that the use of the new Emergency Fund be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors. All remaining funds in the current Legal Fund be transferred to current year’s budget.

2. Leave the Legal Fund as is - $12,000 in savings. Any money over $2,000 in checking will be transferred to the savings account for the legal fund.

3. Legal Fund be amended to a maximum of $5,000 plus accrued interest. Should a need arise and more funds be required, an Assessment on all lot renters, not

just HOA dues paying members, shall be made to cover needed legal expenses.

Any lot renters not paying such assessment shall have a lien placed on their personal property which will have to be paid before any transfer of that property can occur. Remaining Funds in the Legal Fund (about $7,000) be transferred into the HOA General Fund for use at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Board of Directors limit any support to a single entertainment event to a maximum of $150 and no such event will transfer/donate any funds to any entity outside of LHV. 4. $2,000 be transferred from the legal fund to general savings. These funds would be available for emergencies or any other purpose by the Board of Directors. $3.00 from each payment of annual dues be placed in the legal fund.

No maximum limit be placed on the legal fund. Board of Directors may transfer funds from the checking account to the legal fund or general fund. c) Christmas Cantata - Thanked everyone for their help. d) Microphone Repair: The broken wireless microphone can’t be repaired as it does not meet the new guidelines for FCC regulations. Board of Directors has voted to purchase and new amplifier and mixer for a cost of $400. Thanks to Ron Plouffe, David Lennox and Richard Gould for their help in installing it. e) Bylaws/Articles of Incorporation/723: Committee has worked on getting our bylaws and Articles of Incorporation in compliance with 723. They have provided their recommendations to the Board of Directors, this will be reviewed. We would schedule a special meeting in 2012 to vote on the final changes before submitting to the State. f) Proxies: Have been delivered to the residents in the park and mailed to those not currently here. If you did not receive one please contact a Board Member.

Profit was $776.82.

h) Nominating Committee: We have 4 volunteers running for office. He asked those running for office give a 2 min talk on why they are running for the LHV Board of Directors. These will also be given at the Annual Meeting.

New Business: a) Annual Memorial Service – A suggestion was made that we have an annual memorial service of remembrance for those residents that have passed away in the preceding year. This was thought to be a nice idea and will probably take place in March.

b) Trade Show –We will need a volunteer to run this or else the trade show will be cancelled. If we have no Trade Show the alternative would be a Spring Yard Sale but will need a chair for that. c) Suggestion Box – We received a couple of letters in the box. These have been shared with the Board of Directors. d) Activities – Please sign up for Christmas Dinner and New Years Eve Party. e) Birthday Celebrations – A LHV resident is distributing his prints in a frame to our LHV residents for their birthday. If anyone would like to help him with this he could use donations to help cover the cost of the frames and mats. f) Enjoyment Books – Marilyn Smith still has these available.

Manager’s Report: a) Street Repairs – They are currently getting bids. b) Clubhouse - The clubhouse carpet will be cleaned and the tiles in the kitchen, bathrooms and entryways will also be done on Friday, December 16th. New carpet or flooring has been discussed but no decisions have been made. a) Gate Codes - All residents will be receiving a new gate code as a security issue.

These codes have never been used before. Continue to use your old code until the new numbers are entered into the system. Your remotes will continue to work with your new code. b) Update on Theft – Thanks to LHV Patrol for a good job patrolling and seeing the suspect in the park & reporting it. As of tonight the suspect has not been apprehended. The Police are still actively looking for him. c) Patrol - We will be starting a day patrol in January. Anyone interested in participating in our night or day patrol please let the office know. We will be having a Patrol Meeting in the Clubhouse on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 4 PM. d) Back Gates - New mechanism units should be installed and operational by Tuesday, December 20th. e) Control Burn - Needs 2 perfect days with weather. He did not have a definite date. f) Cigarette Butts - When putting the Christmas lights on the trees and lamp posts in our center isle coming into the park I picked up a baggie full of cigarette butts!

This is residents and others who throw out cigarette butts into our landscaped isle either entering or exiting the park. Also around the park streets cigarette butts are visible where they have been thrown down. Please reframe from using our streets and common areas as your ashtray.
