Managers Report

We now have pool covers on the pool. They are cut in 3 sections for ease of use. Please after removing the cover(s) for pool use put the covers back on the pool. Especially if you are the last one in the pool in the afternoon or evening. As the morning pool users will tell you…it really helps keep the pool water warm. Thank you.

Please check your homes..all sides..for need of power washing and have it washed. Thanks.

Dogs/Cats Reminder… Dogs are to be on leashes at all times when outside your home.

Please remember to scoop the poop! Your cat is also to be on a leash when outside your home.

There have been quite a few complaints about cats running around day and night. Thank you.

All the “new” gate codes are in the system. All the “old” gate codes have been deleted.

Would whoever „borrowed‟ the LHV NO PARKING sign by the back gate empty lot please return it! Vacant lots are not to be used for „residents‟ parking unless permission has been given for short time parking. Also, please do not park in vacant „homes for sale‟ driveways.

February can test our patience and endurance, but it also brings us a myriad of gifts. St. Valentine's Day, celebrating the power of love (romantic or not), falls right in the middle as a signpost for the spirit. And this month, which can seem like the longest, is actually the shortest! Perhaps February is a lesson in perception, in searching for the positive rather than the negative. No festival or celebration is complete without symbols and Valentine’s Day cannot be an exception. The colors of Valentine’s Days are red, pink and white. Given below the symbols of the season: 





Hearts: Since the ancient times, hearts signify love and the place of all human emotions. Gifting heart means giving everything a person has selflessly to the person he or she loves.

Ribbons, Laces and Frills: They have become a part of love since the time when the knights used to go to the battlefield wearing the scarf or handkerchief presented by his ladylove. During the ancient times usually when a lady wanted to draw the attention of the man, she used to drop her handkerchief.

Cupid: Cupid or Eros in Greek was the son of the Roman and Greek goddess of love Venus (Aphrodite in Greek). He is depicted as a chubby, naked winged boy with wings carrying a bow and a quiver with arrows. It is believed that Cupid makes people fall in love.

Roses: Since the ancient times, roses are associated with love. Rearranging the letters for the word ‘Rose’ we get the word ‘Eros’ – the god of love. In a Roman legend, it is said that there was a beautiful girl named Rodanthe who had many suitors. Their ardent love made them to break the doors of her house which made goddess Diana infuriated. She turned Rodanthe into a rose and her suitors into thorns.

The colors of roses also express different sentiments and emotions. For example:  Red: Love, Respect, Beauty and Passion  White: Innocence, Purity, Silence and True Love  Yellow: Friendship, Joy, and Hope  Peach: Admiration, Sympathy and Gratitude  Orange: Fascination and Passionate Thoughts.



Doves and Love Birds: It is believed that on 14th February birds choose their mates. Doves and pigeons signify loyalty as they mate with their partners through: out their life. Love Birds are a kind of parrots found in Africa and are always seen in a pair. Hence they signify love.

Happy Valentine’s Day Love comes through the eyes that see And through the ears that hear, For people are quite beautiful, And words make feelings clear.

Planned Activities for Feb. 2012 This month the events are being hosted by various residents.

The Activity Committee will gather at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 2nd in the clubhouse.

Sunday, February 5th Super Bowl Party at 4:00 PM - Joan Lander & Joyce Ladyman are hosting. Tea, and Coffee provided. Please bring a snack to share and your beverage of choice.

Monday, February 6th “On Edge Mobile Knife Sharpening” will be in front of the clubhouse – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Monday, February 6th Early Bird Dining – Ruby Tuesday (Cypress Garden Blvd., Winter Haven). Carpool 4:30 PM. Marileigh Osborn (421-6289) in charge of reservations.

We now are into a New Year and I hope all goes well. Our New Years party was a success.

LAKE HAMMOCK VILLAGE MEMORIAL SERVICE MARCH 11, 2012

This is a Memorial Service to honor those close family members and neighbors who have deceased in the preceding years. Every effort will be made to insure that no name will be omitted. We appreciate the tremendous response in supplying Linda Martin with 70 names (so far) for our Memorial Service. Again, we encourage you to advise Linda of additional residents/close family names as soon as possible. Please e-mail her at lmartin270@tampabay.rr.com or call her at 863-422-1307.

The information needed will be the deceased name, month and year of death and relationship to the provider (spouse, child, neighbor, etc.) and name of provider. Some guidelines will be as follows: 

Close relatives only-spouse, children, or other close family members or former residents



If possible, get permission from any living relatives to have the loved ones name included in the Memorial Service Roll Call. If permission cannot be obtained, ask yourself if they (the deceased) would want to be included in this Memorial Service.



On this first Memorial Service we will receive names from all years past.

Ted & Pat Carmen, Kay Carmen Ted, Pat and Kay are from Bowling Green, OH. They moved into their home at 200 Glen Este Blvd. on January 6th. Their permanent home is in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Ted is retired from Reed Air Products in Bradner, Ohio. Pat retired from Bowling Green Medical Association and Kay from Wells Insurance Agency in Wellington, Ohio. They enjoy their family, traveling, reading, sewing and antiquing. “We are happy to be here. We feel right at home.�

I may appear to be a month late, but the Annual Meeting was just last week. Thus, I welcome the new HOA Board of Directors. Our thanks are extended to retiring Board members Herman Biba, Rita Cramer, Hank Marion, and Ron Plouffe.

I was pleased to see so many interested homeowners at the Annual Meeting (78 , including proxies, out of 123 dues paying members) We had a very healthy debate on the legal fund and a motion was passed to keep the fund as currently established. The legal fund has just over $12,000 in it.

The new Board must fill a vacancy and will do so at the February 7th Board Meeting. If you would like to serve or recommend a name, please contact me or another Board member.

The Activities Committee is always looking for more volunteers and I encourage each of us to make a contribution to help organize an activity. Specifically, the Spring Yard Sale is scheduled for March 24th and we need someone or a small group, to lead its organization.

As a former school principal, I am reminded of my first newsletter to the parents each year. I wrote – if you believe only half of the stories that your children bring home, we will believe only half of the stories that your children bring to school. Let’s remember this as we proceed to have a positive and active 2012.

Lake Hammock Village Homeowner’s Association Homeowner’s Association Annual Meeting, Minutes Tuesday, January 17, 2012 Board Members in Attendance: 6 present I.

Call to Order: President called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM followed by a Flag Salute.

II.

Roll Call: 123 residents have paid dues prior to January 7, 2012 and are eligible to vote. Tonight we have 20 proxy votes and 59 eligible residents for a quorum of 79.

III.

Proof of Notice of Meeting: The notice of annual meeting, proxy, and 2012 proposed budget were hand delivered and mailed out.

IV.

Introduction of Parliamentarian: President introduced the parliamentarian who spoke on how the meeting would be run tonight.

V.

Previous Minutes: a) Motion to approve December 8, 2011 minutes as posted. Motion carried. b) Motion to approve January 18, 2011 Annual Meeting minutes as posted.

Report of Officers a) President’s Report – Thanked the 2011 board members for their hard work this past year. He reviewed the items that the board accomplished this past year. Announced that Treasurer would be resigning as of tonight for personal reasons. The Board will need to appoint a replacement for the remainder of her term. b) Treasurer’s report - December 1, 2011 account balance $3,806.34 in checking. Activity for December: expenses $1,051.18, income $1,267.25 for a balance of $4,022.41 as of December 31, 2011. Savings Account $12,021.63. Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report. Activities – There is now a different resident in charge of each monthly event. Any new volunteers are welcome to come to the monthly activities meeting.

Sunshine – 85 cards were sent out in 2011.

Welcome – New residents were introduced.

FMO – Reported on items coming up this session.

Elections: Nomination Chair announced the nominations and called for nominations from the floor, and there were no nominations from the floor.

Motion to close nominations. Motion carried. The candidates spoke. Ballots were collected and election committee went out to count.

Old Business: None New Business: Legal Fund – Parliamentarian explained the proposals that were handed out tonight. The current legal fund was explained. The floor was opened for motions. It was motioned & seconded that the Legal Fund be limited to $8,000 plus accrued interest. Discussion was held. A substitution to the motion to read that the Legal Fund continue as currently approved by the 2002 annual meeting (annually transfer any funds in excess of $2,000 in the General Checking Account to Legal Fund. Called for a close of discussion & go to a vote. 2/3 majority vote needed to carry the closing of debate on the current motion and go to a vote. Motion carried. Report of Election: The new Board members were introduced. The Board of Directors went into Executive session to determine Executive Positions.

Introduce the New Executive Board: 2012 President thanked last year’s President for all the work he did and the Board for all their work. A special thanks to our Parliamentarian tonight and to the other workers who helped with counting and registration. He then introduced the 2012 Board. We have an opening for a one year term which the board will be filling at the Feb. Board of Directors meeting.

And they did!

Ruth Cloe and Ed Francis were married on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Three O’clock in the afternoon at the Lake Hammock Village Clubhouse.

Music for the ceremony was provided by an Irish Bagpiper.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by Walter Strohmaeir.

Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Francis received best wishes from family and guests.

A toast to the newlyweds was given

by David Lennox.

A reception followed with a sit down dinner.

The newlyweds then shared a piece of wedding cake.

Following the reception Ed and Ruth Francis were paraded around the streets of Lake Hammock followed by family and guests and receiving ‘congratulations’ from residents.
