Does your home need to be power washed? Does your flowerbed need weeding? Perhaps your bushes and trees need to be trimmed. Now is the time, before it’s too hot, to care for these things. Please remind your guests that parking on the grass is not permitted as your sprinkler heads may be damaged.

Thank You Thanks to all that supported the “Treats From Home” fundraiser. It was a big success and raised a lot of money for postage. The committee did an awesome job, but I would not expect anything else. Pat and I have been working with them for over 9 years and they are the best.

Sis Pickles Cinco de Mayo Cinco De Mayo is Tuesday May 5th.

Please come join us from 4 to 6 pm at the club house for a Mexican treat. Cost is $5.00 Get your tickets from Connie. The food will not be spicy so all can enjoy.

From the President As another summer rapidly approaches and our snowbirds head north, we have an exciting new project starting in July. The new pavilion is being built by the pool area for all to use.

We hope to see everybody back in the fall. The board wishes all a happy and safe summer.

Sis Pickles Thank You Iris and I would like to thank all who took part in our anniversary celebration. It came as a big surprise, we did not expect such a party. Everyone who was there was wonderful to us. Dennis and Fred did a wonderful job at the grill – the food was plentiful and delicious. Bonnie was great with the camera, and than you for all the beautiful cards and gifts. So once again, we would love to thank you all for making it a special day, a very special day for our 60th wedding anniversary. We will never forget it. Thank you, Iris and Ian Men’s Lunch The Men’s Luncheon will be on May 12th at 12:30 at Hooters in Port Richey.

Thank You My thanks to Marty Meehan for his permission to reprint the following article from the April 2010 issue of the Grapevine. It is being reprinted for the benefit of all Grand Valley residents.

Walda Pagucci Editor, Grand Valley Grapevine One Person’s Opinion As Written by Marty Meehan for the April 2010 Grand Valley Grapevine My wife and I spent over two years looking and researching for a community to retire in.

One request, we had at that time, was that the community that we would choose would be a 55+ community. Why, you ask? Simple, we knew that we wanted to live the rest of our lives in a community where our neighbors would be mature and would accept each other as friends and neighbors. A community that was active and had activities that could be shared by all. A community where you looked forward to being with friends at the pool, having company on a morning walk, at a social event, at an afternoon lunch or at a neighborhood gathering. A place where everyone looked out for each other.

Did Grand Valley fit our requirements? Yes, we have been here for five years and enjoyed every day with our new friends. Lots of memories have been made as a result of all the functions that we have attended.

What’s happening to our community? Seems like we have a couple of feuds taking place that is causing the Grand Valley Association to be split with each side continuing to blame each other. Do we need this? No, absolutely not! We do not need a personal feud to continue and break apart an Association and it’s volunteers that have worked so hard over the years to provide a place where everyone can enjoy their retirement days. Let’s keep your private differences private and not have them a part of Grand Valley. Do not place the residents of Grand Valley in a position where they have to choose which side to be on. Your friendship is more important to us and we do not want to loose the friendships that have developed over the years.

There is an old Irish poem that basically states: Let bygones be bygones. Let the past go, learn from it but move on. The past is behind us and should be forgotten and our misdeeds be forgiven. The present is only today and in the here and now. The future is unknown and can only be influenced by our generous kindness and caring deeds of today.

I hope that my wife and I can look forward to, once again, the community life of Grand Valley that we have so much enjoyed in the past.

Issue 236 May 2015 Some Words of Wisdom Today I was in a store that sells sunglasses, and only sunglasses. A young lady walks over to me and asks, "What brings you in today?" I looked at her, and said, I'm interested in buying a refrigerator. She didn't quite know how to respond. Am I getting to be that age?

I was thinking about how a status symbol of today is those cell phones that everyone has clipped onto their belt or purse. I can't afford one. So I'm wearing my garage door opener.

You know, I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people didn't like me anyway.

I was thinking that women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans!

I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball but you are just too tired to bounce it.

I thought about making a fitness movie for folks my age and call it 'Pumping Rust'.

When people see a cat's litter box they always say, 'Oh, have you got a cat?' Just once I want to say, 'No, it's for company!'

Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, 'An ambulance.'

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then it dawned on me. They were cramming for their finals. As for me, I'm just hoping God grades on the curve.

Birds of a feather flock together and then crap on your car.

The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body

Page 6 of 13 and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

Did you notice the Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL. The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble.

And did you ever notice when you put the two words 'The' and 'IRS' together it spells 'Theirs...'

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable.

Lord, Keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.

Thick ‘N Thin Our group meets every Tuesday morning from 11 – 12 at the clubhouse to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyle. We begin with a short meeting where we share ideas, stories, recipes and more. Then, if weight loss is your goal, a scale is provided for a private weigh-in.

This is then followed by a period of exercise using the TV and DVD player.

Can Tabs for Shriners Hospital Keeping CAN TABS is a great way to help the children in any of the Shriners Hospitals and at the same time promote recycling. Please continue to turn your tabs in to Al Krueger at 8045 Monitor or to Connie in the office.

Trash & Recycling Trash collection is Monday and Thursday. Recycle days are the second and fourth Wednesday of every month.

Please recycle bottles, glass, cans and plastic containers with a number 1-7 in a triangle on the bottom. You do not have to use blue bags. Any container that’s marked “recycle” will be picked up the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

Newspapers can be taken next door to the government building for recycling.

Deadline for Grapevine Articles for the Grapevine are due by noontime on the 20th of the month.

No exceptions will be made.
