MAINSTAGE SEASON SPONSORS

CHARLOTTE & BOB OTTO

It is a joy to sponsor the 2025 season of world-class productions created right here at Flat Rock Playhouse.

We hope you enjoy the show.

Thank you for supporting Flat Rock Playhouse.

A MESSAGE FROM LISA K. BRYANT, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Dear esteemed patrons,

As we prepare to take to the stage, we are reminded of the profound impact that your presence has on our craft. You are the spark that ignites the flame of our passion, the wind that fills the sails of our creativity, and the sunshine that nourishes the bloom of our art.

As artists, we are driven by an insatiable desire to create, to express, and to connect with others through our work. But this desire would remain unfulfilled without the vital support and appreciation that you, our dear patrons, provide. You are the raisond’être of our endeavors, the reason why we toil and strive to bring forth the best that is within us.

Your presence in our theatre is not merely a pleasure, but a necessity. Without you, our words would fall on deaf ears, our movements would be mere gestures, and our music would be but a silent melody.

And yet, because of you, we are able to do what we love most in the world. We are able to lose ourselves in the thrill of storytelling, to find ourselves in the applause and accolades, and to rediscover ourselves in the joy and wonder of creation.

So, we offer our deepest gratitude to each one of you. Thank you for being our inspiration, our motivation, and our reward. Thank you for allowing us to share our art with you, and for being a part of the grand tapestry that is our collective experience.

We hope that you will continue to join us on this wondrous journey, to laugh with us, to cry with us, and to be moved by the beauty and power of the human spirit. For in the end, it is not just a play that we present to you, but a reflection of all of us: our hopes, our dreams, and our very humanity.

With appreciation and respect,

THANK YOU TO OUR SEASON SPONSORS

This project was supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

A MESSAGE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR, SAM YAEGER GOODRUM

Producing live theatre, by its very nature, creates a vibrant community—one that fosters connection, growth, and creative exploration, from backstage to center stage to the house seats.

Community begins offstage. Our talented staff, crew, and artists collaborate for weeks—sometimes months—to bring each production to life. From the stage floor to the lighting grid, every element is meticulously crafted. Our team brings their education, experience, and passion, making every performance at Flat Rock Playhouse a one-of-a-kind experience. As each production is unique, requiring deep collaboration, cultivating opportunities for continued learning and growth.

That sense of community carries onto the stage. During the casting, our artistic team thoughtfully assembles ensembles that not only fit the roles but also complement one another—artistically and personally. The rehearsal process demands vulnerability, trust, and dedication. As the cast works together to shape a production, bonds form that enhance their performances bringing authenticity and emotional depth to the stage. When artists unite in harmony, something magical happens— a spark that ignites not only among the performers but in the hearts of everyone watching.

Each production is crafted with care, heart, and an unwavering commitment to excellence making every moment on stage as impactful and unforgettable as possible. Through this process, not only do stories come to life, but the individuals involved grow—as artists, as collaborators, and as people.

This growth is then passed to the final and most vital piece of the puzzle: you—our audience. Once the curtain rises, community extends into the seats. Each performance becomes a shared moment between strangers who laugh together, gasp together, and are moved together. Live theatre offers a rare and powerful form of connection, allowing us to feel deeply and reflect together. In those moments, a collective understanding is born—one that we carry with us beyond the theatre walls. As a patron, you are not just an observer; you are a participant in this living, breathing art form. Your presence is essential to the magic of live theatre and to the community that makes it so meaningful.

I am proud to represent a professional producing theatre that believes in the transformative power of community. It is my privilege to help ensure that Flat Rock continues to be a space where creativity thrives, connections are forged, and unforgettable experiences are shared.

Together, we make theatre. Together, we build community. Thank you for being a patron of Flat Rock Playhouse.

A MESSAGE FROM BOARD PRESIDENT CHARLOTTE OTTO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for being a part of the Flat Rock Playhouse family. We are proud to be a professional producing theatre with the mission of enriching lives through the art of theatre.

So, what does it mean to be a producing theatre? It means everything you see is planned, crafted, and presented right here on The Rock. The scenery, the costumes, the props, the choreography, the direction, the performers—everything that goes into a show… it all happens here.

But that’s not all. We offer classes and performance opportunities for the next generation of theatre artists through our Playhouse Jr. and Apprentice programs. We are in the schools, reaching more than 10,000 students and teachers. And we Rock Out! to bring performances to the community.

None of this happens without you. We appreciate your support as patrons, students, donors, volunteers, and ambassadors. If you’d like to get more involved, or if you have any comments or questions, please reach out to me at FRPBoardPresident@flatrockplayhouse.org. I’d love to hear from you.

Again, thank you for being part of this magical place on The Rock.

JOIN THE VAGABOND SOCIETY A WILL TO GIVE

Since our theatre began, we have depended on generous patrons and donors. By including Flat Rock Playhouse in your will, you can ensure great storytelling, teaching, and performing for future generations.

Endowment Funding is a wonderful way for ensuring the Playhouse’s future. Savvy donors can endow their current gifts through their will. For example, a bequest of $2500 would permanently endow an annual gift of $100. A bequest of $25,000 would create a named fund that would generate $1,000+ perpetually.

THE LEIMAN

Find peace and tranquility in this new garden of remembrance.

Flat Rock Playhouse’s founder, Robroy Farquhar, settled in this beautiful mountain region to celebrate the joys of nature and create a safe haven to practice his craft. In 2021, we continue to embrace the quiet serenity of our beautiful surroundings with The Leiman Garden of Remembrance.

David and Sharon Leiman donated this hallowed ground in memory of the six million Jews and millions of other men, women, and children murdered by Nazi Germany. The garden invites us all to remember, learn, reflect and NEVER FORGET.

David and Sharon first came to Flat Rock Playhouse in 2016 for the all-star hit production, Million Dollar Quartet. We are honored and overjoyed to call this dynamic duo part of the Flat Rock Playhouse team of patrons, donors, and volunteers.
