ANSWERS TO LESSON 34 OBSERVATIONS

1 John

1. The blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin and we have fellowship with one another. (1:7)

2. We obey his word and walk as Jesus walked. If we sin, Jesus speaks to the Father in our defense. (2:1 - 6)

3. Loving others shows we know God and are living in the light. People who hate others are stumbling around in darkness. (2:9 - 11)

4. Antichrists are liars and deny that Jesus is Christ. (2:22 - 26)

5. He lavished his love on us so we do what is right. Our hope is in his return and we will be fully like Christ. (3:1 - 3)

6. We lay down our lives for others, sharing what we have, and loving with our actions. (3:16 - 18)

7. Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. Every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. We overcome because greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. (4:1 - 4)

8. There is no fear in love but perfect love drives out fear. (4:18)

9. We have faith in Jesus the Son of God so we are born of God and overcome the world. Keeping his commands are not burdensome. (5:3 - 5)

10. When we ask according to God’s will he hears us and then we know we will receive what we asked for. (5:14 - 15)

2 John

1. Some of her children are walking in the truth. (4)

2. She must not be deceived by false teachers but must continue in the truth of Christ. (7 - 11)

Consider this:

John and Jude thoroughly teach the centrality of love We love God because he first loved us and lavished his love on us If we obey God’s word, his love is made complete in us If we love others we live in the light We love God but not the things of the world Christ proved his love by laying down his life for us, which is what we do for others by our actions God is love, and it is proof that we have been born of God and know God, when we love others Perfect love casts out fear We keep ourselves in God’s love as we wait for the return of Christ
