Know Your Rights: The law says that Children’s Services must: •Support you until you are 25. •Provide you with a Personal Adviser (PA). •Review your Pathway Plan. •Help you with money for your work, education, or training. •Provide or pay for accommodation during college or university holidays if you are studying away from home. •Contribute towards living expenses near to your job, education, or training. •Give you a £2,000 grant if you are in higher education. •Provide you with other financial support where necessary. •Keep in touch with you. •Visit you regularly.
What is Five Rivers Futures? Five Rivers Futures Five Rivers Futures is a befriending service for young adults aged 18-25, who have left Five Rivers’ care. The service provides care leavers with support and advice for emotional, practical and financial difficulties, and volunteers will be accessible via phone, text, or email. The types of support available include: •General Advice •Overcoming barriers •Friendly chats Five Rivers have recognised the

need for additional support for young people in care when they reach adulthood, and this service has been set up following consultation with Foster Carers, those with care-experience and care leavers. We want to continue to show our care for young people even once they have reached adulthood. Please note this is not a crisis hotline. If you are in an emergency then please call 999 or Samaritans on 116 123.

What other Support can I get? Trying to find the right support at the right time can be tricky sometimes. You will have your local authority Personal Assistant and Your Pathway plan. Outside of this help, you may want more support. Things, resources, information and organisations can change a lot. People are constantly fighting for better services rights and so sometimes your rigts and entitlements can change too. If you still require further help the best place to find it is with the ‘BECOME’ charity. They are most likey be able to help you, they will be able to point you in the direction for help and their resources will be up to date. Click here to find their resources
