Thank you for attending the Parent Orientation Program at Florida International University! The following is a recommended checklist for you and your student to consider in the upcoming days before classes begin.

Parent/Family Member Checklist:

Discuss with your student what your expectations are for his or her college experience and what this means for your relationship over the next few years. Consider the following topics: academics, transportation, finances, communication, and family responsibilities. Chat with your student about the differences between high school and college. Encourage your student to familiarize his or herself with the various resources on campus. Encourage your student to register for Panther Camp. Sign up to receive monthly email updates through the FIU Parent Newsletter at: go.fiu.edu/PFNews. Familiarize yourself with the Academic Calendar, available online at: onestop.fiu.edu.
