e Korea Agricultural Machiney Industry Cooperative (KAMICO), Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency (KOAT), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agriculture RFO11, PhiliMech in collaboration with FIT Corea Trading Phils., Inc. and Farmer's Choice Agri Machinery Corp. conducted the Roadshow on September 6-7 at the DARCES compound, Manambulan, Davao City.

The opening session of the Roadshow 2023 Program was a highly anticipated event in the city of Davao, Philippines. The program aimed to showcase the latest advancements in agricultural machinery and technology to benefit local farmers and boost the agricultural sector. The event was graced by the presence of prominent figures in the city's government, including Councilor Marissa S. Abella, who served as the representative of Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Z. Duterte, as he could not attend in person due to prior commitments.

During the opening of the Roadshow 2023 Program, Councilor Marissa S. Abella addressed the gathered attendees on behalf of Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Z. Duterte. In her role as the representative, she spoke passionately about the potential impact of the agricultural machinery roadshow on the local farming community.

Amidst the exciting event celebrating the launch of the new Corn Milling Machine, Fit Corea's Mechanic Team, comprising Mr. Archie, Mr. Arcel, Mr. Christian, and Mr. Jeff, took charge to showcase its impressive features and basic functions to the farmers and other attendees. e event was graced by the presence of Usec Domingo F. Panganiban of the Department of Agriculture, and several other regional directors to witness this innovative addition to agricultural technology. It was a momentous occasion, highlighting the commitment to advancing farming practices and supporting the farming community.

e event continued with an engaging demonstration, featuring the impressive 5 in 1 Rice Mill & Polishing machine. is machine represented a pioneering innovation as the �rst impeller-type rice mill in the Philippines.

During the demonstration, attendees had the unique opportunity to witness the machine in action. It showcased its versatility by seamlessly performing multiple rice milling functions in one compact unit, including 1. Impurity Sorter, 2. Rice Husk separator, 3. Rice Bran separator, 4. FIELD DEMONSTRATION During the afternoon session of the Roadshow 2023 �rogram, a �eld demonstration showcased the versatility of Backhoes in agriculture. Farmers witnessed how backhoes could be used for tasks like land consolidation, digging water ponds, �sh ponds, and more. e demonstration highlighted the practical applications of modern agricultural machinery, aiming to empower local farmers with innovative tools and techniques.

AGRILINK 2023 in preperation

e Preparation of Agrilink Fit Corea's management conducted meetings to discuss preparations for the upcoming international exhibition in the Philippines. ese meeting had a signipicant role in formulating strategies, particularly in highlighting speci�c machinery that should be emphasized and promoted. Additionally, we thoroughly e�amined the �nal design of the pavilion, selected materials, and addressed the budgetary requirements for booth design, fabrication, and installation. Engr. Cesar, the booth contractor and owner of Design 360, led these discussions as part of the planning for the Korea Pavilion (KAMICO) at the upcoming Agrilink event.

To address this issue, Fit Corea's skilled mechanics Mr. Archie, Arcel, Christian and Jeff with Mr. Kim. e maintenance scope involved a range of tasks, including replacing the oil seal in the cylinder head and axle, as well as changing worn bearings and tires. is comprehensive maintenance effort aimed to restore the forklift to its peak operational condition.

UNLOADING OF VARIOUS MACHINES

UNLOADING OF TRACTOR AND WALL SPRAYER Fit Corea Trading Phils., Inc. recently received a shipment containing Tractor and Wall Sprayer equipment. The skilled Mechanic Team, consisting of Archie, Arcel, Jeff, and Christian, took on the task of unloading the machines from two container trucks and transporting them to Fit Corea's warehouse, where they would be added to the company's growing inventory of machinery and equipment.

TYM 5825R is a full-option 4-wheel drive that is made in South Korea. It runs on diesel and a 4-stroke 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It has 55HP @ 2600 rpm and a 4-wheel drive system with a max forward speed of 27.3kph @ 280rpm. A water-cooling system is installed in the TYM 5825R for better cooling.

WALL SPRAYER Wallsprayer is a high-quality wall sprayer that can be use to disinfects vehicles that might bring viruses like Avian In�uen�a, Foot and Mouth Disease, and African Swine Fever. is machine has a high intensity and heat and cold-resistant Polycarbonate wall, and it comes with a sensor that detects an object 2 meters away from the sensor and has a 1ms response time for quick deployment of the sprayer. e water tank has a 200L capacity that stores the disinfectant.

Fit Corea and Crop Master have scheduled a meeting to dig into the details of potential collaboration, including distribution terms, pricing, and support. This meeting took place at Fit Corea's office, where President Philip Kim of Fit Corea Trading Phils., Inc. explained the terms and conditions associated with becoming a dealer of Fit Corea’s agricultural machinery.

Fit Corea's team, Manager Marilou Bautista, Mr. Christian Galler, and Arcel Azucena, attended and participated in the 'Rice Field Day' and 'Rice-Based Drip Irrigation Fertigation Showcase Project' at Pampanga State Agricultural University.

The event served as a platform to celebrate the extraordinary progress made in rice farming and irrigation techniques, with the distinguished former Secretary of Agriculture, Dr. William D. Dar, delivering the keynote address. His unwavering commitment to the advancement of agriculture in our nation has been instrumental in fostering sustainable farming practices and ensuring food security.

Furthermore, it is a privilege to welcome guest speaker Deputy Ambassador Esty Buzgan from the country of Israel.

DA-BPI, KOPIA Philippines Center launch Siniloan village project with infra completion

e Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), and the Korea Partnership for Innovation of Agriculture (KOPIA) Philippines Center formally opened its “Pilot Village Project on Protective Cultivation and Postharvest Management of Vegetables” in Siniloan, Laguna.

DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban, Republic of Korea Ambassador to the Philippines Sang-hwa Lee, and other officials led the completion ceremony for nine greenhouses and a postharvest building in Barangay Macatad. e infrastructure development is a component of the Pilot Village Project funded by KOPIA

and implemented by the DA-BPI Los Baños National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center (LBNCRDPSC). e project will bene�t at least one hundred farmers in Siniloan through the provision and promotion of greenhouses with drip irrigation systems, postharvest technologies, farm cultivators, and good agricultural practices.

It will also be implemented in Lucban, Quezon and Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija to help raise the production and income levels of Filipino farmers.

26 As the project proponent and implementor, the LBNCRDPSC under DA-BPI spearheaded the capacity building of farmers and extension workers and promoted the concepts of bayanihan (Filipino concept of community cooperation) and Saemul Undong (Korean for self-help and community development). It also provided vegetable production technology packages and technical assistance to empower the farmers in the pilot villages.

“KOPIA plays an important role as it works side by side with the local community. Its pilot villages are designed to improve the production through modern farming technology as well as knowledge transfer and cooperation on agricultural innovation and food security. erefore, this success story in Siniloan can serve as a model for replication,” Ambassador Lee said.

With the initial success of the ongoing project as a model farm for Filipino rural communities, the KOPIA and DA-BPI have agreed to develop a project proposal for funding by the South Korean government to scale up the project to 10 pilot villages in the areas covered by the �ve National Centers of the DA-BPI.

Meeting with South Korean Government Agency on Smart Greenhouses

epartment of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban met with Korean Agency of Education, Promotion, and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS) Senior Manager Lee Jae-eun to discuss the Smart Greenhouse Project updates on September 8, 2023.

Manager Lee and the EPIS independent monitoring team including Dr. Park Sauk-hee, Dr. Bae Do-chan, and Dr. Kim Tae-Hoon reported the project accomplishments after visiting the smart greenhouse sites at the DA-Regional Field Offices (RFOs) in Western

Based on the �nal monitoring of project performance and development of sustainability plan, the EPIS team told Undersecretary Panganiban and DA-Field Operations Service (FOS) Director U-Nichols Manalo that the project is successful and almost perfect.

DA officials thanked South Korea for support and expressed interest in more collaborations.

Funded by the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, the project created 11 smart greenhouses in Bukidnon and 10 in Iloilo to promote innovative technologies for improved yield and quality of high-value crops.

16th National Rice Technology Forum

he theme, “Masaganang Palay at Bigas, Maunlad na Pilipinas,” the 16th National Rice Technology Forum (NRTF) was launched in Hagonoy and Digos City, Davao del Sur. Spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Davao Regional Field Office (RFO 11), DA-Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC 11), and the private sector-led Rice Board, the event kicked off with a �eld tour at the technology demonstration farms in Poblacion, Hagonoy. e techno demo farms showcased 24 hybrid rice varieties and smart technologies that have been tried and tested to be high-yielding, pest and disease resistant and climate-resilient contributing higher income for farmers and high quality and affordable rice for consumers.

Philippines gains Korean market access for fresh Hass avocado

The Philippines’ commercial shipment of Hass avocado to the Republic of Korea “We thank the Korean government for �nally approving the market access of our Hass avocado exports,” Department of Agriculture (DA) Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban said as he announced that the country can now export Hass avocado to Korea for the 2023–2024 season. e announcement was made following the official letter from the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs-Animal and Plant Quarantine

Agency (MAFRA-APQA) to the DA-Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI). e protocol on “Plant Quarantine Import Requirements of Fresh ‘Hass’ Avocado fruits from the Philippines into the Republic of Korea” was signed and agreed by both countries on June 19, 2023 and became effective on September 8, 2023. Korea in 2021. e Philippine fresh Hass avocado exports will be initially sourced out from DA-BPI-accredited orchards and packing houses of Dole Philippines in Davao, Bukidnon, and South Cotabato.

Corn mill to be commercialized

Corn Mill that can boost local food security can see commercialization after the completion of its pilot testing in June this year.

"is project supports the attainment of food security for communities that have lands and resources more suitable for growing white corn as their staple. Some parts in the Visayas and Mindanao also prefer milled white corn or white corn mixed with rice, called 'bugas' instead of rice, and this project will help ensure their food security," said Dr. Dionisio Alvindia, PHilMech executive [director IV]. e project ""Pilot Adaptation of the PHilMech-KAMICO Designed Corn Mill for Village [Level] Operation" is part of the agency's Covid-19 response initiative but will have a long-term impact on communities that depend on milled white corn or corn grits for their staple. KAMICO is the Korea Agriculture Machinery Industry Cooperative.

PHilMech is pilot testing the PHilMech-KAMICO corn mill in four sites: two in Bukidnon; and one site each in Saranggani and Negros Occidental. "e pilot tests will be completed by June 2023, and after that, PHilMech will push for its wider adoption and study its commercialization. So far, the project is proceeding as scheduled," Alvindia said.

PBBM-led NFA Council sets new buying price for dry, fresh palay to improve farmers’ income

�e �ational Food ��thorit� ��F�� Council chaired by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. set on Monday a new price range for palay buying price in response to the changing production and market conditions with an aim of improving farmers’ income and ensuring sufficient supply of the staple.

“Nagtawag ako ng meeting ng NFA Council para tingnan ang paanong puwedeng gawin para ang presyo ng pambili ng NFA sa palay, ‘yung wet at saka ‘yung dry, ay kailangan nating tingnan dahil nagbago na ang sitwasyon,” President Marcos announced following the meeting of the NFA Council.

“At ganoon nga ang pinag-meeting-an namin at nag-decide kami na ngayon ang buying price ng NFA mula ngayon ay sa dry ay 19 to 23, ang wet ay magiging 16 to 19. Iyon ang naging desisyon ng mga NFA Council.” �e council came up with the new palay buying price range to give Filipino farmers better income, the President said, noting today’s reasonable palay production cost.

“So, mayroon na silang pagkikitaan. At bukod pa roon, nandiyan na ‘yung price cap para maikalma natin itong nangyayari sa rice prices,” the President said. �e originally proposed PhP20 and PhP25 buying price are just too high and will spike retail prices, according to the NFA, noting that with the new decided price range, it balances the pro�t of farmers and will not affect the retail prices as much.

Agricultural mechanical dryers pave the way to sustainable harvests As a nation with a heavy reliance on agriculture, the Philippines has long faced challenges in efficiently drying crops while preserving their quality. Farmers usually use traditional drying methods that rely on open-air drying or conventional sun drying, which is highly dependent on weather conditions that can lead to inconsistent results and worse, postharvest losses. It also requires constant monitoring and manual labor which can be time-consuming and physically demanding for farmers. �ecause of this, a signi�cant stride towards modernizing agricultural practices through mechanization has been initiated by embracing the use of state-of-the-art mechanical dryers. ese dryers are paving the way to more sustainable harvests, transforming the way

to more sustainable harvests, transforming the way crops are dried, o�ering numerous bene�ts that streamline the drying process, elevating overall crop quality, reducing postharvest losses, promoting environmental conservation and resource efficiency, and contributing to food security in the country.

In the latest developments, the RCEF Mechanization Program, spearheaded by the DA-PHilMech, has distributed a total of 322 units of recirculating batch dryers with a 6-ton capacity per batch, 23 units of recirculating batch dryers with an even larger capacity of 12 tons per batch, and six units of mobile grain dryers to various quali�ed FCAs.
