DEALER’S DISCUSSION Mr. Tony Sibulo, the General Manager of Filholland Corporation together with Mr. Rey Lapiguera, the Key Account Manager visited FIT Corea office and had a disussions with President Philip Kim for the possible dealership of Korea Machinery.

Filholland Corporation a company under LCG Group of Companies is an exclusive distributor of New Holland tractors in the Philippines.

Their office is located in Taguig City and have branches in Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.

During the meeting, Mr. Sibulo discussed their intention to becoming a dealer of FIT Corea in the two regions in the Philippines (Visayas, Mindanao areas). According to him, the group is looking for another product lines that can be added aside from New Holland tractor and Implements.

Mr. Tony Sibulo and President Philip Kim first meet in 2006 when Filholland Corp. bought Wecan Rotavator from FIT Corea in La Paz, Iloilo City and later became a frequent customer of rotavator. Due to a long years of associations, both companies are familiar with each others in terms of company history and products.

Agrilink planning AGRILINK 2022, the biggest agribusiness exhibition in the country, will take place at the World Trade Center from Octorber 6 to 8, 2022 with the theme, “Inclusive Growth in Agribusiness Chain: Key to Stability.”

For the past years, KAMICO -FITCOREA has been part of this big event and been able to showcased different Korea Agricultural machinery to the filipino entrepreneurs and professionals such as animal breeders, machinery and equipment owners and many more.

Last April 20, Ms. Sally Mecija, Manager of Agrilink, visited Fit Corea office to discussed the details and plans about the upcoming exhibit to President Philip Kim. They have talked about the possible changes since it is still in pandemic cause of Covid-19.

President Philip Kim also suggested that they include a special page for KAMICO in the event handbook, which she agreed to and said she would discuss the size and

arrangement with the design team.

Over the years FitCorea has taken big leaps in exploring opportunities not only in educating Filipino farmers on the use of modern technologies, but also in becoming more mechanized.

The three-day event is supported by the (DA) Department of Agriculture and its local government units, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, Bureau of Agricultural Research, DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service and 30 other major Philippine food and agribusiness organizations.

Aside from the machinery exhibit, it also provide free seminars and features live animal and plant display as well as other special activities that will underscore the most up-to-date and ground-breaking inputs, technologies and alliances.

Mr. Diaz was an OFW. He is a nickel mining engineer who is concerned with the efficient construction, equipment, and operation of mines. After retiring from a full-time work, he began preparing his own business in his hometown, such as rice milling.

He considered upgrading and acquiring a cost - effective rice milling equipment to help them enhance their business.

After searching for a rice milling machine on the internet, he decided to acquire the Leehwa 5in1 Rice milling and Polishing machine. He was impressed and became interested in purchasing this machine due to its 5in1 capabilities.

He was also interested in the feasibility analysis, which showed the machine’s return on investment. Another option to make money is to run a toll milling business, where farmers bring their palay to be processed into rice grains.

and confirmed his intention to buy it in April. Employees from Fit Corea approprietly oriented him about the machine.

Last April 11, 2022, Fit corea team delivered the 5in1 Rice milling and Polishing machine to Mr. Diaz in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija. He asked Fit Corea team not to install the machine yet since the area is still under construction. He was planning to connect the rice milling to the dryer through a conveyor.

Fit Corea team gives another advice on how to prolong the lifespan of the machine. They suggested that Mr. Diaz and his team to operate for 26 days each month, for a total of 5 hours every day and must maintain it properly.

Mr. Diaz is currently preparing his place for operation and he stated that if the 5in1 Rice milling and Polishing machine performs well, he might purchase another unit soon.

project A sensory evaluation of corn grits produced using PHilMech-KAMICO Corn Mill technology was conducted in Impasugong, Bukidnon on April 20, 2022. Forty-one individuals (31 males and 10 females) assessed the aroma, appearance, texture, and flavor of the cooked white corn grits.

This activity is conducted under the COVID-response project, Pilot Adaptation of the PHilMech-KAMICO Designed Corn Mill for Village Level Operation led by Engr. Donald V. Mateo of the Agricultural Mechanization Division.

The upland regions of Mindanao have the most area planted to corn, and the highest production in the Philippines.

Corn is also grown in the rainfed lowlands, where it is planted during the dry season after the rice crop has been harvested.

PhilMech’s financial analysis indicates that at Php950,000 total investment cost for the corn mill and the shed for the machine, the estimated total cost of milling is 0.88/kg output. This fee is very much lower compared with the prevailing milling fee in the market of 3.10 to 4.70 per kilogram output.

Internal rate of return on investment is estimated at 79.81%. The lifespan of the corn mill is 10 years and the total annual operating time is 600 hours.

With product recovery of 66-71% and degerminator efficiency of 82-88%, the technology has fully satisfied the Philippine agricultural engineering standard for corn mill, which is set at 64% minimum product recovery and 80% degerminator efficiency.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar underscored that the convergence of the four components of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) will be a key to the successful implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL).

During the RCEF Program Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting on April 1, 2022, Secretary Dar asked the rice mechanization, seed distribution, skills development, and credit components to present and discuss the convergence map of all RCEF interventions.

He also requested for the list of FCAs where the major components are converging and a summary of what inputs or machineries have been given for a full account of what have been done in the last three years.

“I want all components to have a three-year report of what have been done, mas lalo po rito sa convergence natin sa mga FCAs na gusto nating tulungan at ating tinutulungan,” the secretary stressed.

So, complementation, synergy is needed,” he said.

BIRD FLUOUTBREAK PRODUCTS FROM CAGAYAN VALLEY Pangasinan bans chicken, poultry products from Cagayan Valley Gov. Amado Espino III issued an executive order on Monday implementing the ban to protect the poultry industry in the province as well as the general public from the ill effects of bird flu.

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — The entry of chicken and poultry products from Cagayan Valley has been banned in Pangasinan amid reported cases of avian influenza or bird flu in Isabela.

The EO noted that the Department of Agriculture regional office confirmed that around 200 chickens have died of bird flu.
