Bloom Fitness Opens in Edmond

For as long as she can remember, Jen Bodin dreamed of her own fitness space, an environment to help people feel loved and celebrated, while meeting them where they are on their fitness journey. And that’s exactly what she’s done with Bloom Fitness. “When I am coaching people, whether with personal training or in a class, I am in my element. It’s not work, it’s helping others become the best version of themselves,” she said.

Jen discovered Pilates as a class at The University of Oklahoma and immediately fell in love with it, discovering how much it aided her mobility in other sports, such as running and weight training. “While we work the entire body while doing Pilates, all movements originate from a strong core and spine.”

Located in Stephenson Plaza in Edmond, 140 E. 5th, Suite 104, Bloom Fitness offers something for everyone, whether a beginner or a seasoned athlete. On any given week you can find group studio classes, private personal training, private Pilates sessions, and airbrush tanning.

Group classes at Bloom include:

• Shred, a high-intensity class using weights

• Power Pilates, an all-level mat Pilates class

• Bounce Pilates, where students alternate between bouncing on an individual sized trampoline and Pilates work on the mat

• Yoga: Vinyasa, Ashtanga and meditation

“We don’t use machines at Bloom, we use mats, weights, bands, circles, and blocks. Everyone that enters our space is welcome and all levels are accommodated.”

Jen is the mom of two boys, and it isn’t lost on her what they are learning from her love of fitness and entrepreneurial spirit. “What I hope they see is they can do whatever they put their mind to, that movement is key to happiness and joy, and that working hard instills the kind of strength they need to believe in themselves.”

Revolutionizing Healthcare: The Power of Regenerative Medicine for Healing and Renewal.

You have probably heard the buzz around Human Cellular Tissue Products (HCTPs), also known as Exosomes. But what do these words mean? HCTPs all have the remarkable ability to promote tissue repair and regeneration. Their potential in advancing regenerative medicine make them an easy complementary treatment for both medical and aesthetic therapies.

Human Cellular Tissue Products (HCTPs) offer a myriad of benefits in the field of regenerative medicine and

disease modification. These advanced biological products are derived from human tissues and have transformative potential by modulating the cellular environment when used in various medical applications.

Dr. Ben Barenberg of Optimal Health Associates says, “Our largest clinic focus is on the significant benefit of HCTPs and their ability to promote tissue repair and regeneration” HCTPs contain living cell derived growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix components

fitcity_okc | fitcitymag.com 11

that can stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms and accelerate tissue healing by changing the cellular environment. HCTPs can also be used in conjunction with traditional medical therapies to treat chronic medical conditions such as heart failure, certain cancers, neuromuscular disorders (Parkinson’s/Multiple Sclerosis/ etc), chronic inflammatory conditions, traumatic injuries (orthopedic/burns), and rheumatologic disorders.

One huge advantage of HCTPs is their compatibility with the patient’s own tissues, effectively eliminating the risk of rejection complications. They provide a source of functional cells and cell influencers that can replace or repair damaged or diseased tissues therefore restoring normal function and improving quality of life.

Dr. Barenberg says their clinic is a leader in HCTPs therapies in the OKC metro. “Our clinic has ethically sourced quality HCTPs to maximize patient outcomes when using these innovative therapies”, says Barenberg.

Exosomes, the tiny extracellular vesicles released by cells, are gaining attention in the field of skin treatments for their potential regenerative properties. Rebekah Voda, owner of The Treatment Room, uses Exosomes because they are the “top dog” of stem cells. “We are seeing groundbreaking results with hair rejuvenation and improvement with sunken in/dark under-eyes”, she says.

Exosomes have emerged as a promising innovation in skincare due to their incredible benefits for the skin. These microscopic extracellular vesicles play a crucial role in intercellular communication and possess remarkable regenerative properties. When applied topically, exosomes promote skin rejuvenation by delivering vital proteins, growth factors, and nucleic acids to the target cells. They help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Furthermore, exosomes enhance skin hydration, boost natural healing processes, and protect against environmental damage. Their non-invasive nature and compatibility with various skincare products make exosomes a valuable tool in achieving healthier, more youthful-looking skin. Voda says, “We like to offer natural anti-aging services as well and Exosomes are the best thing on the market for that”. For a consultation to see if this treatment is right for you, call The Treatment Room at (405) 921-0585 or visit their website to make an appointment.

Luscious Locks Unleashed

Looking to transform your hair with added length and volume? Hair extensions offer a quick and versatile solution. Whether you want to add luscious length, create voluminous locks, or experiment with a new hairstyle, extensions can help you achieve the look you desire. These versatile pieces can be made from real or synthetic hair, allowing you to choose based on your preferences and budget. With various attachment methods, including clip-ins, tape-ins, and sew-ins, you can easily customize and apply extensions at home or seek professional assistance for a seamless result.

Methods

Hair extensions come in various methods, each offering unique benefits and application techniques. Clip-in extensions are a popular choice for their convenience and versatility, allowing you to easily attach and remove them at home. Tape-in extensions provide a more semi-permanent solution, offering natural-looking results that last for weeks. Sew-in or weft extensions involve braiding or sewing tracks of extensions into your natural hair, ensuring a secure and long-lasting hold. Fusion or bonded extensions use keratin or adhesive bonds to attach individual strands of extensions to your hair, providing seamless integration. Micro-link or bead extensions involve attaching extensions using small metal rings, offering flexibility and easy maintenance. Consult with a professional to determine the best method for your desired results.

Hair Quality

The importance of hair extension hair quality cannot be overstated. High-quality hair extensions not only look more natural but also offer better durability and longevity. They blend seamlessly with your own hair, ensuring a flawless and undetectable result. Additionally, quality extensions are

less prone to tangling, shedding, and damage, allowing for easier styling and maintenance. Local salons such as, Melt Salon, CTT Salon + Extension Bar and Lotus & June, all use luxury Remy hair. Investing in superior hair quality guarantees longer wear and ensures that your extensions will look and feel the best.

Installation and Maintenance

It’s crucial to follow the recommended maintenance routines, such as regular repositioning or tightening for certain extension types. By giving your hair extensions the care they deserve, you ensure they stay in optimal condition, looking beautiful and providing you with long-lasting satisfaction. “Proper at-home care and regular maintenance with an experienced professional will ensure that your hair extensions can last up to one year,” says Tracey Shepard, owner of Lotus & June Salon. Hair extension installation times will vary on the salon but on average the process takes a minimum of 2 hours.

Extension Care

Proper care for hair extensions is vital to maintain their quality and prolong their lifespan. Chelsie Taylor, owner of CTT Salon + Extension Bar, advises washing with sulfate-free, extension-friendly shampoos and conditioners to keep extensions clean and nourished and to also avoid over washing your hair. “Less is more when it comes to hair extension care,” says Taylor. Experts also say to avoid excessive heat styling and using heat protectant products to help preserve the integrity of the extensions. Regular brushing with a gentle detangling brush prevents tangles and minimizes shedding. Tracey Shepard advises that her clients use mineral sunscreen in the summer months. “Ingredients Avobenzone and Octocrylene that are found in non mineral sunscreens will turn blonde extensions permanently pink and orange,” Shepard says.

5 Trending Spa Treatments to Try this Fall

As the seasons change, it’s the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate your skin. Cooler temperatures and less intense sunlight make fall an ideal season for laser and non-invasive skin treatments. Treat yourself to these 5 fall med spa treatments and unlock a luminous, revitalized complexion before spring and summer!

Lumecca is an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment to improve and brighten texture and reduce skin irregularities including sun spots, age spots, freckles, pigmentation, and superficial veins. Fall offers less intense sunlight, making it an opportune time for laser procedures to improve skin tone and texture.

Laser Hair Reduction

The fall is the perfect time to eliminate unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in hair follicles. The light emitted from the laser heats up melanin to destroy the follicles and prevent future hair growth, or to significantly inhibit hair growth. Sun exposure before and after treatment increases the risk of complications such as burns, pigmentation changes, and skin sensitivity. As fall brings cooler weather and less time spent outdoors, it allows for better sun protection and minimizes the chances of sun-related issues during the laser hair removal reduction process. Starting laser hair removal reduction in the fall gives you ample time to complete the recommended series of treatments before summer arrives. By the time warmer weather comes around, you can enjoy the benefits of reduced hair growth and smoother skin, allowing you to confidently embrace summer activities without the hassle of constant shaving or waxing.

RF Microneedling

Morpheus8 RF microneedling is a deep fractional, radio frequency treatment that delivers exceptional skin, tissue and collagen remodeling to improve skin appearance and reduce irregularities. Microneedling also helps reduce fine lines, scars, and hyperpigmentation. Clients select this treatment as an alternative to a facelift. Cooler fall temperatures allow for comfortable recovery without excessive sun exposure.

Non-Invasive Facelift

Non-invasive, yet intense, the quantum, organic face-lifting method using biofeedback micro current will visibly firm and improve the appearance of wrinkles, deep lines and provide overall tightening of the facial muscles. Tender beam cold lasers will sanitize the skin, improve damaged capillaries and reduce hyperpigmentation. This non-invasive treatment is perfect for fall, as it helps to repair summer skin damage and prepare your complexion for the upcoming winter.

Intensive Eye Revitalizing Treatment

Visible results after your first treatment! This organic revitalizing treatment is for you! It includes ultrasonic massage penetration of a special blend of vitamins and proteins to nourish and improve the appearance of the eye area by brightening, tightening and firming. Biofeedback microcurrent is used to promote collagen and elastin production, increase blood circulation and cell regeneration which aids in lifting and toning the area around the eyes. This is beneficial for crows’ feet, fine lines, dark circles, or under eye bags.

Full Body Function at Fit Spa

Fit Spa’s talent extends past the chiropractic table. Meet Dr. Mila, expert in chiropractic medicine, IV therapy and integrative medicine.

Tell us a little about yourself and why you love what you do. I graduated Parker university with a doctor of chiropractic degree in 2017 and I’ve been serving patients since then. This profession is so rewarding, knowing that you are making a real difference in the lives of your patients. Vitamin injection, acupuncture and dry needling are some of other services we offer to our patients along with chiropractic treatment.

What is the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture? They both involve the insertion of the needle into certain parts of the body. In acupuncture, the goal is to restore and balance the proper flow of qi (energy) throughout the body. The needles are left in place for 20 to 30 minutes at points along meridian lines, which represent the body’s organs. Dry needling, on the other hand, aims to release or inactivate trigger points to relieve pain or improve range of motion. During dry needling, needles are placed directly into the painful muscles to treat trigger points and relieve tension in that specific area. Patients may feel muscle twitching when the needle is inserted.

What are the benefits of acupuncture and who is the ideal candidate for this service? Many people seek acupuncture treatment for pain reduction and improvement of overall health. Acupuncture can be helpful in various conditions, including emotional issues (stress relief), digestive problems, musculoskeletal issues, respiratory conditions (allergies), neurological disorders (headaches), and gynecological concerns (menstrual pain, infertility). Additionally, acupuncture can support better immune and nervous system function.

However, not everyone is a suitable candidate for acupuncture, just like with any treatment option. During your initial consultation, you and your provider will discuss your treatment goals, medical history, and medications you

take to determine if acupuncture is appropriate for you. Before your treatment, be sure to inform the practitioner if you have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant, or have a pacemaker.

Talk to us about all things injections. From tox to vitamins, what do we need to know? We offer B12, B COMPLEX, D3, Glutathione and vitamin C injection. B Complex injections can increase your energy level, improve migraine symptoms, and increase nervous system function. Side effects are very uncommon and combining both B Complex and B12 injections can provide an overall boost to the way you feel and look. Glutathione plays a very important role in detoxifying the body, fighting free radicals and repairing damage and because of its role in supporting regeneration of cells and inhibition of Tyrosinase (an enzyme that makes melanin), it can decrease wrinkles, increase skin elasticity and brightening skin tone. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It plays an important role in boosting immune system, wound healing, energy level, and collagen production. Vitamin D plays an important role in regulating cellular functions throughout your body. Vitamin D supports our immune system and helps keep our bone, teeth and muscles strong.

Dr. Mila, your skin is gorgeous! How do we get smooth glowing skin this summer? Hydration is the key to a glowing skin. Take some vitamin C to renew the skin. Detoxing with purifying mask, getting facials at least once a month and glutathione injection are so beneficial in skin regeneration process. Fit Spa has highly educated licensed aestheticians ready to book for this supportive glow.

We know health starts from the inside out, what other services should we consider to make us feel better? Chiropractic care specifically focuses on the health and function of your spine and nervous system. Chiropractic

adjustments can help decrease the stress placed on the spine and nervous system, allowing the body to function closer to its full capacity. The NeuFit device is a technology that utilizes direct current therapy and neurological stimulation to reset faulty nerve signaling, accelerate recovery, balance muscles (whether overactive or inhibited), and manage chronic and acute pain. I highly recommend therapeutic massage for a deep sense of relaxation and stress relief. It increases blood flow, breaks down adhesions, relaxes tight muscles, and helps reduce stress.

How do you provide chiropractic care for babies? This is an area where we love to help parents understand the

benefit of chiropractic care beyond ache and pain. The goal here is to balance the nervous system which is the master system of the body, controlling all of its function. By addressing the areas of stress with gentle, specific adjustments we can relax their system and see pretty awesome results in little ones for example reducing colic, constipation, better sleep and immune system.
