Coat of paint is just the start
McDonald’s tries a new approach FAST FOOD giant McDonald’s has renewed its battle to open in Fishponds by putting forward new plans that include changes to the layout of Fishponds Road. It wants to see back-to-back ‘right turn’ lanes to service its proposed drive-though at the former tile factory and Drummond Road, which is opposite. Its scheme would also include a new pedestrian crossing island near the entrance to the site at 541 Fishponds Road. Opponents say the revised proposals, which will be considered at the public inquiry into McDonald’s appeal against the refusal of planning permission, would create further traffic dangers. Both sides have submitted evidence to the Planning Inspectorate for the inquiry, which is likely to take place in the new year. Full story, Page 3
