New call to act over Hockey’s Lane A FRESH effort to remove the ban on turning left into Hockey’s Lane from Fishponds Road has been launched. This follows renewed concern from residents about the dangers to pedestrians on the crossing from the drivers who ignore the ban. Repeated attempts to lift the restriction, which was introduced in 2011 as part of changes for the Greater Bristol Bus Network, have fallen on deaf ears. The issue is likely to be highlighted in the forthcoming Mayoral and all-out council election campaign. In the meantime, a petition has been launched on the city council website with the aim of showing the strength of feeling. It points out that since the ban was introduced, the library has moved and an Aldi supermarket has opened, increasing the number of pedestrians in the area.
