THE GINGERBREAD CITY

elissa Woolford, is the founder and director of Museum of Architecture, and The School for Creative Thinkers, the UK-based charity dedicated to finding new ways for the public to engage and learn about architecture. Since 2016, Museum of Architecture has been creating the Gingerbread City exhibition, which puts an exciting twist on the festive gingerbread house and sparks important conversations around cities and how we live in them. This year’s exhibition opens on Motcomb

Street, Belgravia on 3 December. Over 100 top architects, engineers and designers help to create the exhibition which ends up as a miniature city made entirely from gingerbread, sweets, and icing. This year, the exhibition will explore how to build for different climates across five different zones - Polar, Temperate, Continental, Tropical and Desert. It promises to be an absolute feast for the eyes, a brilliantly festive thing to do but also to inspire interest in some of the world’s most pressing problems in a fun and approachable way.
