The Baby Cot Shop celebrates one year at Harrods, marking a milestone that reflects its growing international presence and continued commitment to bespoke nursery design for discerning families worldwide.
One year ago, The Baby Cot Shop became part of Harrods’ Fourth Floor, one of the most discerning retail environments in the world. Twelve months on, the brand has deepened its presence within it, working with private clients, interior designers, and families from across the globe to create nursery spaces that are as considered as any other room in the home.
The Showroom Advantage: Why Visiting in Person is the Ultimate Nursery Planning Step extension of that reputation. Since joining the Fourth Floor, the brand has welcomed a significantly international clientele, among them families from the Gulf States and wider Middle East purchasing London properties, private clients commissioning complete nursery environments, and interior designers seeking a trusted partner for high-specification family projects. For many of these clients, Harrods represents both a destination and a guarantee of quality, and The Baby Cot Shop’s presence within it carries that same assurance.
Founded in Chelsea in 2008 by Toks Aruoture, The Baby Cot Shop has spent nearly two decades establishing itself as London’s foremost authority on luxury nursery design. The brand specialises in handcrafted, made-to-order furniture and fully bespoke nursery interiors, with each project developed from initial consultation through to final installation and every piece crafted to the client’s specification.

Demand over the past year has reflected a broader evolution in how families approach the nursery. Where once a cot and a wardrobe sufficed, clients today arrive with a considered vision, asking not just for furniture but for spaces designed to grow with a child, anchored in quality that endures.
The Baby Cot Shop’s response to that demand remains unchanged: a made-to-order process built around the individual, drawing on European craftsmanship and an extensive palette of finishes, fabrics, and bespoke configurations. thebabycotshop.com

Pocketbum is a babygrow designed for parents and other caregivers who value a fuss-free solution to nappy changing. PocketBum’s unique design replaces typical fasteners such as poppers with an elasticated gusset, making nappy changes quicker and easier, even in the middle of the night.
Some babies do not like clothing being pulled over their heads, and Pocketbum’s ingenious design means that this isn’t an issue. Simply pop Baby’s legs in and pull the babygrow up to the arms. To change Baby’s nappy, pull down the bottom half - no need to remove the entire babygrow. Once the nappy has been changed, just pop Baby’s legs back in and away you go; no hassle!
The streamlined, popper-free design ensures that Pocketbum will stay in place even when Baby is on the go. Unlike poppered garments, there are no gaps for small feet to get stuck in or poke through, and the lack of protruding fasteners makes both tummy time and naptime super-comfortable.

As National Weaning Week 2026 (11th–15th May) approaches, leading UK baby-led weaning brand Tidy Tot has announced an ambitious month-long programme of education and support designed to help parents navigate the transition to solid foods with confidence.
Aiming to provide expert advice and practical tips for the “messy” milestones, Tidy Tot is moving beyond the traditional week of activity to dedicate the entire month of May to Sensory-Led Weaning.
Throughout May, parents can access a curated programme of educational content, exclusive partner offers, and at-home activities, all designed to make mealtimes a developmental win rather than a chore.
The initiative highlights the importance of

the “Sensory-Led” approach. Moving away from the high-pressure “Baby-Led vs. Spoon-Fed” debate, Tidy Tot is encouraging parents to focus on the sensory experience, allowing babies to touch, smell, and explore food to build feeding confidence.
Jen Unsworth, Founder of Tidy Tot, says: “National Weaning Week is such a vital time for parents to get the support they need. This year, we wanted to go further by dedicating the whole of May to empowering parents. Weaning isn’t just about nutrition; it’s a full sensory experience. Our mission is to provide the tools - like our Bib & Tray Kit - that make that ‘necessary mess’ manageable, allowing parents to focus on the joy of discovery rather than the stress of the cleanup.”
Parents can join the Tidy Tot Sensory Weaning Series throughout May 2026 on Instagram and via the Tidy Tot website, where they can find expert-led videos, handy guides, weaning recipes, and exclusive National Weaning Week partner giveaways. tidytot.com

In 2026, Swedish childrenswear brand PO.P (Polarn O. Pyret) celebrates turning 50 – a monumental milestone of dressing children in durable, weatherproof and functional clothing that’s made to last, for 50 years. To mark the occasion, PO.P launch a limited collection highlighting the brands most iconic heroes, while the focus also turns to the future, with an even stronger emphasis on longevity and quality.
What’s new? Nothing. And everything. Since its founding in 1976, PO.P has had a clear focus. Children’s clothing should be designed with children in mind. It should withstand movement, play and all kinds of weather, while lasting over time. Garments that don’t restrict, but enable. The core of the brand remains the same today as it was then, but the products have evolved alongside society – adapted to a new everyday life, with a continued focus on quality, function and sustainability.
For PO.P, it has always been a given that clothes are worn by more than one child. In time for the anniversary year, a fourth line has been added to the name label inside the garments. A small detail that says a lot, and the reason is simple: there was no longer enough space for all the names every

garment was worn and loved by. Today, 66% of PO.P’s outerwear is used by three children or more, and the company’s motto “To be worn by at least three children”, is more relevant than ever.
“For us, quality is about responsibility. When garments are thoughtfully designed from the start, they can be used for a long time, by more people and in different contexts. That builds trust with families and creates a brand that stands strong over time. Today, we clearly see how our offering meets a growing demand for sustainable premium products, which gives us the confidence to continue investing in the brand and in our growth going forward” - Sara Sjöberg, CEO of PO.P.
outerwear for children’s outdoor lives
Outerwear is one of PO.P’s most loved product categories. With timeless design, technical materials, carefully developed features and fits adapted to children’s movement, the brand creates garments that work in everyday life and last for generations.
The principle is the same now as it was then. Children should be able to play outdoors whatever the weather. That requires clothing that can handle cold, snow, rain, wind and play from morning to evening.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, the brand launches the PO.P 50 COLLECTIONa limited-edition range paying tribute to the iconic garments that first put PO.P on the map. The collection reflects both the brand’s heritage and how far it has evolved over the past five decades.
New pieces will be released throughout the year, beginning in March 2026 with a celebratory drop inspired by the signature blue, red and white colour palette, reimagined with a contemporary twist. The launch features hero blue-and-white striped sets, babygrows and sleepsuits, alongside coordinating babygrows and T-shirts showcasing the original 1976 ‘Polarn & Pyret’ logotype.
For PO.P, quality has always been about creating garments that can be loved for longer and by more people. With a renewed promise to continuously improve its products, the brand continues its journey – with the same conviction as 50 years ago. And with its sights set on at least 50 more years.

By Dr Natalia Bogatcheva MBBS MRCGP, The London General Practice

While skin cancer is more commonly diagnosed in adults, there has been a 150% increase in the diagnosis of childhood skin cancers over the past few decades. Additionally, the habits we establish in childhood, play a crucial role in determining future risk. Studies show that a significant amount of lifetime sun exposure occurs before the age of 18, and even a few severe sunburns in childhood can double the risk of developing melanoma later in life.
Children’s skin is thinner and more sensitive than that of adults, making it more susceptible to UV damage. The two main types of ultraviolet radiation—UVA and UVB—penetrate the skin differently but both contribute to DNA damage, premature ageing, and increased cancer risk over time.
The cancer in young babies and children normally arises from congenital moles, whilst in adolescents there is more of an ‘adult type’ melanoma. Some skin cancers are genetically linked.
At The London General Practice, we strongly advocate for early education and preventative strategies to protect young, vulnerable skin.
Sun Protection: it is important to know how to read a label of a sunscreen. A broad-spectrum sunscreen means that it should protect from both UVA and UVB harmful rays. SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates how long can a person stay in the sun before it starts to burn the skin. The SPF should be 30 or higher), and should be applied at

least 20 minutes before sun exposure. The term ‘waterproof’ and ‘sweat resistant’ are misleading as none on the sun screens can fully provide that protection, therefore a frequent reapplication is recommended.
Protective Clothing: Encourage children to wear wide-brimmed hats, UV-protective clothing, and sunglasses when outdoors, especially during peak sun hours (11 am–3 pm).
“Children’s skin is thinner and more sensitive than that of adults, making it more susceptible to UV damage”

“Use
umbrellas, trees, or pram covers to shield delicate skin from direct sunlight”
Seek Shade: Make shade a priority, especially for infants and toddlers. Use umbrellas, trees, or pram covers to shield delicate skin from direct sunlight.
Lead by Example: Children are more likely to adopt sun-safe behaviours if they see adults doing the same. Practice what you preach—apply sunscreen together and wear protective clothing as a family.
At The London General Practice, skin checks are an important part of our comprehensive health screenings. We routinely assess skin health, including mole mapping and identifying any concerning lesions, as part of our proactive approach to early detection. Parents are

encouraged to monitor their child’s skin for any changes, and our team is here to provide expert evaluation and guidance when needed. Early awareness and intervention can make all the difference.
Protecting your child’s skin today helps safeguard their future. Good sun safety habits, developed early, lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy skin.
