LITTLE FOLKS FURNITURE

At Little Folks Furniture we believe that a child’s bedroom should be more than just a place to rest –though creating a sanctuary for truly restorative is always at the heart of what we do. Today’s children live, learn and dream in these spaces, and we design beds, mattresses and furniture that rise to meet this beautifully complex brief.

Our designers begin with a myriad of sketches and detailing, meaning that our designs are unique and exclusive. At the core of it all is a real understanding of what makes a better bed - and what modern family life truly needs. We carefully construct our bed frames from sustainably sourced solid hardwoods, chosen for their strength and durability and then the richness they bring to painted finishes. Traditional mortice and tenon jointing echoes the exceptional design to produce beds that are built to last and which offer enduring quality that supports your child through every chapter.

With over 30 years of experience, we’ve earned a reputation for our expertise and with an uncompromising understanding of product

“We consider how a child interacts with their space; how it can nurture independence, spark imagination, and offer moments of calm”

and safety. Our in-house test facility puts every design through its paces, ensuring it stands up to real family life, not just the showroom. We apply the same knowhow to a small but perfect range of children’s mattresses, including our natural wool mattresses, engineered to deliver proper support from early growth through the teenage years and beyond.

We consider how a child interacts with their space; how it can nurture independence, spark imagination, and offer moments of calm. From underbed trundles and sleepovers, integrated desks and homework and day beds for reading or socialising, our designs adapt to your child’s world, offering practical solutions with a touch of magical multifunctionality.

Choosing a bed shouldn’t be stressful. It should feel like a confident step toward creating a home that reflects your own values - thoughtful, enduring, and quietly joyful. KIDS WEEK IS BACK FOR 2026

London’s world-famous theatres are preparing to throw open their doors for families this summer, as Society of London Theatre’s annual initiative Kids Week returns.

Despite the name, Kids Week runs for a fabulous six weeks – almost the full length of the UK summer school holidays. While the shows taking part haven’t been announced yet, last year’s line-up was a who’s who of top West End shows! With over 50 top shows taking part in Kids Week, there’s likely to be something here for everyone - a superstar line-up of fantastic theatre for toddlers, kids and teens.

As the longest-running initiative of its kind, Kids Week has introduced more than 2.5 million young people and their families to the magic of live theatre for over 25 years.

The wide variety of shows to choose from include London musicals, plays, comedies and children’s shows. Last year, younger children watched their favourite characters as part of Julia

Donaldson’s The Baddies and the Smeds and the Smoos, The Tiger who came to Tea, Fireman Sam - The Great Camping Adventure, and The Enormous Crocodile, while older children were spoilt for choice too.

From Matilda the Musical, The Lion King and Six the Musical to Horrible Histories, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Back to the Future - The Musical, last year’s Kids Week line up was particularly good and we’re predicting the same from 2026.

Alongside the shows, Kids Week also offers an exciting programme of workshops and activities, giving young theatre fans the chance to go behind the scenes and discover how the magic of theatre is made. Last year, the schedule of interactive theatre experiences included puppetry workshops with 101 Dalmatians and learning the art of illusions with Harry Potter.

This summer, kids aged 17 and under can see participating shows for free when accompanied by an adult paying full price, with half-price tickets for two additional children in the same group - and no booking fees.

Representing an incredible 50% saving across all tickets, this is a great way to see top shows, entertain the kids and have fun yourself, all for less money.

Tickets are on sale from Tuesday 9 June, with participating shows, workshops and activities to be announced soon.

TINFERTILITY EXPLAINED

his is when a couple cannot get pregnant (conceive) despite having regular unprotected sex. Most couples take their fertility for granted ...until they cannot get pregnant. Around 1 in 7 couples may have difficulty conceiving.

Causes of infertility:

Female infertility 30%, male infertility 30%, mixed male female infertility 20%, unexplained infertility 20%.

Why do infertility problems occur?

1. Timing of intercourse. Probability of conception is maximum in the three days up to and including the day of ovulation.

2. Ovulation.

3. Egg quality.

4. Tubal disease.

5. Sperm quantity and quality.

6. Uterine pathology.

7. Hormonal reasons.

In women, infertility declines steeply after the age of 35 to 37 and spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) increase steeply at the same time. Women’s ovarian reserve, that is the number of eggs (follicle number) declines very gradually from birth then rapidly from age 35 until the menopause.

When to seek help?

1. Irregular or infrequent periods. These can also be short cycles or unpredictable irregular cycles.

2. Miscarriage.

The rate of miscarriages is 15-20% if under 35, 50% if 40 years old and 80% if over 42 years old.

3. If previous medical treatment, for example chemotherapy has been received, a woman should seek help earlier.

4. If there is a family history of early menopause.

5. Previous gynae or abdominal surgery.

IVF is an option. However, it has its limitations.

Live birth rate per IVF cycle is approximately:

• 30% for 35 - 37 year olds

• less than 20% for 38 - 40 year olds

• and approximately 6% for 41 to 42-year-old females.
