The exhibition is based on The Lost Words, the Sunday Times bestselling book, published in 2017. The Lost Words has become a “cultural phenomenon” (The Guardian). It has sold around a quarter of a million hardback copies. It has been translated into several languages and adapted into film, drama, dance, radio, classical music, folk-song, jigsaws, board-games and puppet-theatre. A grassroots movement to donate a copy of the book to every primary school in England, Wales and Scotland is nearing completion.

Parents may need to cut children some slack when they’re finding their feet at a new school. “Make as many allowances as you can and modify your expectations of the usual behavioural standards as much as possible
