EATON HOUSE SCHOOLS CELEBRATES 125 YEARS IN UNIQUE STYLE

When the 4-year-old Reception classes of Eaton House The Manor and Eaton House Belgravia join the schools in September 2023, they will become part of a history of excellence in single sex education that has lasted 125 years.

The schools are known for their high academic achievement, with generations of boys and girls going on to top schools such as Eton, Westminster, St Paul’s, Dulwich, King’s College, Wimbledon, Wycombe Abbey, Winchester, JAGS, and more, many with scholarships. A variety of famous faces have passed through the schools in the last 125 years, including politician Tony Benn, actors Eddie Redmayne and Sir Laurence Olivier, writer Philip Pullman and adventurer Bear Grylls.

Schools warmly welcome new parents into the fold of their friendly and sociable communities. To celebrate the 125-year milestone, the parents of Eaton House Belgravia celebrated with a fantastic ball. At The Manor Fair, held on May 19, there was something for everyone, from the smallest Nursery children to the oldest Prep girls and boys aged 11 and 13.

Custom bunting floated high above the Georgian Manor on the 1.5-acre Clapham Common North Side site as pupils raced out onto the forecourt to take a spin on the carousel, try their hand at hook-a-duck and prove their sporting abilities at the Penalty Shoot Out stand. A Victorian style ‘test your strength’ machine prompted a lot of laughter, as even teachers struggled to reach the top score! Old fashioned candy floss and popcorn carts provided sustenance and 1000 prizes were there to be won. Each pupil received a memorable and smart ‘125’ pin to add to their red and green blazers.

On the Common, the pupils of all the schools formed a large ‘125’ shape. A camera drone flew overhead, capturing the exuberance of hundreds of waving children, to mark this important piece of Eaton House history.
