During the Cannes Film Festival, the artists shone with the exhibition in the Salle Californie in the Juliana Cannes Hotel. The MAMAG Modern Art Museum has organized the exhibition “Contemporary Art Cannes Biennale” from 19 to 21 May 2023. Almost 60 artists from different countries were selected for the exhibition. The exhibition was curated by the curator and director of MAMAG Modern Art Museum Heinz Playner.

In the exhibition were shown works of art by Tanja Playner, Rebeccah Klodt, Rusudan Petviashvili, Janusz Tworek, Julia McClurg, Zofia Farrell, Carmen Rieger, Lynn Creighton, Lea Edwards, Pilar Rivero, Irene van Celestine, Carol Estes, Nico Biso, Girly Picasso, Brigitte Dequeker, Sophia Xinman Wang, Keith Edwards and other artists.

Tanja Playner exhibited in Cannes her view to the perspectives and objects in her painting style. Artist Rebeccah Klodt has shown her gentle abstract implementation.

Brigitte Dequeker has exhibited the work with the combination of the classical and modern styles.

Artist Poppy Charnalia pursues poetry along with visual art. In Cannes were exhibited 3 of her artworks. Poppy’s 12 year old son Sohum is on the Autism Spectrum. Her and her family are deeply moved by this cause. Sohum’s love for textures inspires her multidimensional art. She encourages children to touch the textures she creates. The experience transcends the visual sense.

Artist Stephen Najda experiments with abstract and figurative art. Two of his works of art were exhibited in Cannes.

In the exhibition were also shown extravagant paintings full of feminine energy by Irene van Celestine.

Also paintings by Rusudan Petviashvili were exhibited. Margaret Thatcher also received a work of art from the artist in 1987.

The works by the international EcoEnvironmental Artist Sophia Xinman Wang were also on view at the Biennale in Cannes. Sophia Xinman’s artistic works are refreshingly blended in various forms of contemporary Chinese ink painting, Yunnan heavy-color painting and mixed-material painting. Dongba script is a part of Xinman’s works that make up the characters and animals in the picture.

Patterns built up from shapes and colours which have moved through time and place , as humans have done, over thousands of years. These are beautiful and vibrant works.
