JOHN KEARNS: TILTING AT WINDMILLS
Tilting at Windmills is the brand-new stand-up show from Taskmaster alumni and double Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner, John Kearns. A fragmented, digressing portrayal of a 38-year-old man’s life, alluding to books he hasn’t read, touching on the modern condition. Plus VAT! More allusive and bleak as ever, it is unreal the comedian you become. And for who? Decent craic with the right crowd. A show for those who have read about but not committed to the Guinness Nitrosurge.

CHARTWELL
Chartwell’s hillside gardens reflect his love of landscape and nature. They include the lakes he created, the kitchen garden and the Marycot, a playhouse designed for his youngest daughter Mary. Beyond the gardens there is expansive woodland with looped trails and natural play areas.

Discover the past, celebrate the present and share your own memories
The National Trust opened Chartwell to the public on 22 June 1966, so the weekend of 20-21 June will be full of festivities. For the Saturday, Surrey Jive invites everyone to join in with swing dancing on the terrace lawn. On the Sunday, Biggin Hill Concert Band will perform two rousing sets of music. Come as you are or dressed in 1960s style. Bring along picnic or pick up your favourite National Trust treats from the café.
Chartwell 60 is more than one weekend, and there is plenty to enjoy throughout the summer. The Chartwell 60 story begins with the transformation of the Churchills’ much-loved family home into a treasured place for members of the public to visit. Look out for displays in the grounds and the house to learn more. For a more personal experience, book the ‘Chartwell 60’ guided highlights tour (additional fee) and join a garden tour on selected weekdays (free with admission).

The Chartwell 60 story wouldn’t be complete without visitors. That’s why the National Trust is inviting anyone with a favourite Chartwell memory to upload a photo and their story to the Chartwell 60 online survey or pop a postcard in one of the memory post boxes on site. The Chartwell team will select from these submissions to create a special display for visitors to see when they return at the end of the summer.
This summer’s visitors will also be able to spot archive photos around the garden, inviting visitors to pose with friends and family in the very same locations that the Churchills once did. Talk about walking in the footsteps of history!
The school holidays are around the corner, and Chartwell will be welcoming families to take part in a summer family activity trail inspired by the stories and pictures of best-selling children’s storybook author and illustrator, Rob Bidulph. Families can even book tickets for live, in-person ‘Draw with Rob’ interactive workshops.
Get ready for a summer to remember at Chartwell.

Set in the remarkable grounds of Hever Castle, The Festival Theatre has become one of the most distinctive summer cultural destinations in the South East, offering an open-air programme that feels both relaxed and quietly special. As July arrives, the season gathers pace with a line-up that spans live music, comedy and opera, all in the intimate setting of the Two Sisters’ Theatre.
Kicking off the month is Strictly Dan on 24 July, a polished and musically precise celebration of the work of Steely Dan. Known for its superb musicianship and attention to detail, the show suits the setting perfectly, with its smooth, jazzinflected sound resonating through the castle grounds on a summer evening.

On 25 July, comedy legend Tommy Cooper is reimagined in The Tommy Cooper Show, starring John Hewer. Rather than imitation, the production offers a warm and affectionate portrait of one of Britain’s most recognisable entertainers, complete with all the perfectly timed chaos and misfiring magic that made him a household name.
The following night, 26 July, brings Mozart’s Così fan tutte. Performed in the open-air theatre, it’s an elegant, witty and emotionally layered production that feels made for a warm evening at Hever. With its themes of love and mistaken identity, it remains as sharp and entertaining today as ever.
Later in the month, Complete Madness on 31 July closes the programme with a burst of energy. A full live band delivers hit after hit from one of Britain’s most beloved groups, bringing a lively end to a month of varied and high-quality performances.
Beyond the stage, part of the appeal is the experience itself. Guests arrive early, wander the gardens, enjoy a drink or supper on site, and settle into the theatre as dusk falls over the castle. The roof opens to the evening sky, and what follows is a rare combination of setting and performance that feels both informal and memorable.
The Festival Theatre continues to offer something rather unique: live entertainment in one of Kent’s most beautiful historic settings, where the atmosphere is as much a part of the evening as the show itself.

Returns to Sandbanks for the South Coast’s Most Glamorous Summer Weekend 10-11 July 2026

Summer’s most stylish weekend returns to Sandbanks this July as the internationally renowned SandPolo celebrates its 19th year on the golden shores of Sandbanks Beach, Poole. A firm supporter of the event over many years, Sandbanks Life has proudly watched SandPolo evolve into one of the defining highlights of the British summer season — a spectacular blend of sport, music, fashion and coastal celebration unlike anywhere else in the country.
Since launching in 2008, SandPolo has become the world’s leading beach polo event, attracting thousands of guests each summer to experience professional polo played directly on the sand alongside luxury hospitality, live entertainment and unforgettable beachside parties. What began as a bold vision from founder Johnny Wheeler has grown into a landmark occasion that captures the unique spirit, glamour and energy of the South Coast.
Returning on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July, this year’s event promises another unforgettable weekend as Sandbanks transforms into a vibrant beachfront arena filled with world-class polo, fine dining, live music and stylish summer socialising.
Friday evening sees the return of the hugely popular ‘Boogie Nights’, bringing a dazzling soundtrack of soul, funk, disco and Motown to the beach. Headlining the celebrations are legendary acid-jazz pioneers The Brand New Heavies, alongside actor, DJ and broadcaster Craig Charles.
Saturday’s glamorous ‘Ladies Day’ continues the celebrations in signature SandPolo style, combining fashion, entertainment and highenergy polo with a playful nineties and noughties-inspired twist. Guests will once again compete for the coveted ‘Best Dressed’ titles while enjoying music from feel-good collective Discolicious. Pop favourite Peter Andre brings a welcome wave of nostalgia, while chart-topping band The Vamps promise an energetic live performance packed with festival anthems.
In an ever-changing events landscape, SandPolo’s enduring appeal lies in its ability to bring people together to celebrate summer by the sea in one of the UK’s most exclusive coastal settings. Nearly two decades on, it remains a true showcase of the Sandbanks lifestyle; sophisticated, vibrant and unmistakably British.

A first visit might be for oysters and a glass of wine. The second for Sunday lunch. Before long, you’re bringing friends, taking a table on the terrace when the weather looks promising, or dropping in for a cocktail and finding yourself ordering dinner.
The restaurant that began life as a fishmonger five years ago now feels fully realised: a handsome dining room, a lively bar, a terrace made for long summer evenings and, at its centre, a kitchen and bar built on serious experience and an uncomplicated respect for ingredients.
Richard Kirkwood and Andy Roberts have spent much of their careers cooking at the highest level, including time at J-Sheekey and The Ivy. What makes Fish Union interesting, however, is not where they’ve worked, but what they’ve chosen to do with that experience. The cooking is assured, not showy, technical without feeling technical. The emphasis remains where it should be: exceptional seafood, carefully sourced produce, and dishes that prioritise flavour above all else.

That philosophy will be on full display at the restaurant’s upcoming World Cup Dinner on the final Thursday of June. Drawing inspiration from host nations Canada, Mexico and the United States, the menu will explore regional ingredients, traditions and techniques through the lens of two chefs, uniting the food of three nations. Tickets are booking quickly.
Throughout July and August, live music evenings will bring another dimension to the restaurant, before the terrace takes centre stage over the August Bank Holiday weekend with an afternoon barbecue accompanied by live music and flowing drinks. Summer also sees the return of Frozen Margaritas—a drink purpose-built for a late afternoon on the terrace—alongside seasonal coolers, cocktails, thoughtful wines and menus that lean into the best produce available. And while the events offer obvious reasons to visit, there is perhaps something more compelling about Fish Union on an ordinary day. A long lunch after a walk on the Commons. Oysters and a bottle of Muscadet on a Wednesday afternoon. Sunday roasts shared around a table of family and friends. The best restaurants reveal themselves gradually. Fish Union is becoming one of them.

Introducing the Winemaker’s Pub, a modern interpretation of the classic Kentish local, brought to life by Balfour Winery. It is, at heart, a pub, but one with vineyard credentials and a quiet confidence about what’s in your glass.
Fully integrated with the estate, the bar pours the complete range of Balfour wines, from bright, orchard-fresh whites to elegant, structured reds and the estate’s much-admired English sparkling. This isn’t a token gesture to the family name; it’s the full repertoire, served just a shuttle ride from the vines themselves. Not that it’s only about wine. A carefully kept line-up of beers keeps pint drinkers content, while a thoughtful back bar of spirits caters to those who favour a Negroni, a proper pint, or a bracingly cold G&T. Sometimes, after all, all you need is a very good drink and a packet of crisps.
The food is resolutely ‘pubby’ in the best sense: generous, seasonal, and rooted in British comfort. There’s a classic pub menu built for long lunches and unhurried suppers . Think crisp fish and chips, burgers worth leaning into, and plates that invite a second glass. Pizzas emerge blistered and generous from the oven, ideal for sharing (or not). Puddings are properly nostalgic and unashamedly

“Fully integrated with the estate, the bar pours the complete range of Balfour wines, from bright, orchard-fresh whites to elegant, structured reds and the estate’s much-admired English sparkling”
comforting. A dedicated children’s menu ensures smaller guests are just as well looked after, and every Sunday there’s a traditional roast with all the trimmings. The sort that turns an afternoon into an occasion.
Upstairs, four boutique bedrooms offer a place to fall into crisp sheets after an evening that ran agreeably away with itself. Each room is quietly stylish, more countryside retreat than over-designed showpiece — somewhere you’ll wake to soft light and the faint sense you’ve made an excellent decision.
Events keep the calendar lively, from relaxed tastings to a monthly themed quiz held on the first Thursday of every month. Occasionally fiercely competitive, always goodhumoured, the prize is a Tour and Tasting voucher at the estate.
Because this isn’t just a pub; it’s part of a wider wine story. Tours, tastings and even lunch at the winery can be woven into your stay, with a shuttle to and from the vineyard (a civilised solution to the thorny issue of who’s driving).
Come for a pint, stay for supper, leave with a case.

Fresh, colourful, and full of flavour, our new summer menu celebrates everything we love about the season. We look forward to welcoming you soon and sharing these delicious new dishes with you.

Friday nights often reveal a restaurant at its truest pace, and our recent visit to Buddha Westerham captured exactly why it continues to attract such a loyal following. Pleasantly busy without ever feeling overcrowded, the restaurant struck an ideal balance between lively energy and relaxed dining. Stylish interior décor added another dimension to the experience, with contemporary Asian-inspired design touches creating a setting that felt elegant yet welcoming. Soft lighting, refined finishes and the vibrant buzz of conversation created an atmosphere that felt special without becoming overly formal — the ideal backdrop for a relaxed Friday evening meal.
A particular highlight of the night was the exceptional service from Will and Holly. Attentive without ever being intrusive, both brought warmth, professionalism and genuine hospitality to the experience. From thoughtful recommendations to ensuring everything ran seamlessly throughout the evening, their friendly approach elevated an already enjoyable visit.
The food itself showcased impressive consistency and quality from start to finish. We began with the Shanghai Chicken Bites — crisp, tender chicken pieces coated in a beautifully balanced glaze delivering savoury richness with subtle sweetness. Full of flavour and perfectly prepared, they provided an excellent start.
The Salt and Pepper Squid quickly followed and impressed equally. Lightly coated and expertly cooked, the squid retained a delicate tenderness beneath its crisp exterior, while perfectly judged seasoning enhanced rather than overpowered the seafood.
The Dynamite Prawns and Scallops delivered both visual appeal and flavour in abundance. Succulent prawns and perfectly cooked scallops combined beautifully with a creamy sauce offering gentle warmth and richness, creating a dish that felt indulgent yet balanced.
For mains, the Kung Pao Chicken demonstrated real precision. Tender chicken paired with vibrant vegetables and a bold sauce carrying layers of savoury depth, subtle sweetness and warming spice without overwhelming the palate. Alongside this came the Typhoon Shelter Fried Rice — fragrant, beautifully textured and packed with flavour. More than simply a side dish, it complemented the meal perfectly while standing out in its own right.
What stood out most throughout the evening was consistency. Every plate arrived beautifully presented, expertly prepared and reflective of high-quality ingredients handled with care.
23 Market Square, Westerham TN16 1AN

Buddha Westerham delivered exactly what a Friday night dining experience should offer: vibrant atmosphere, elegant surroundings, exceptional service from Will and Holly, and food prepared to an outstanding standard. A thoroughly enjoyable evening — and one we look forward to repeating.

At Breaside, we believe education should open doors and create opportunity. From Kindergarten age 2½ through to Year 6, pupils experience a rich and ambitious curriculum designed to build strong academic foundations alongside confidence, independence and a genuine love of learning. Academic excellence sits firmly at the heart of the school, but at Breaside, achievement is never approached in isolation. Small class sizes and dedicated, high-performing teachers allow us to truly know each pupil, ensuring every child is challenged, supported and encouraged to achieve highly. This balance of ambition and care helps pupils grow not only in knowledge, but in self-belief. This commitment to stretch and support has been recognised through Breaside’s full accreditation of the NACE Challenge Award, which celebrates excellence in whole-school provision for more able learners, within a culture of challenge for all. Breaside is proud to be the only school in the Bromley borough to have achieved this award, reflecting the strength of teaching, ambition and individualised support across the school.
“As a dedicated preparatory school, Breaside also places great importance on preparing children for the next stage of their education”
As a dedicated preparatory school, Breaside also places great importance on preparing children for the next stage of their education. Preparation begins early, building the knowledge, skills and self-assurance pupils need to make a successful transition at 11+. Our experienced team works closely with families to understand each child’s strengths, interests and ambitions, helping them progress towards the senior school that is right for them.
Learning at Breaside extends far beyond textbooks. Through initiatives such as the Tycoon Enterprise Project with the Peter Jones Foundation, pupils are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems, collaborate effectively and present their ideas with clarity and confidence. Specialist teaching in Art, Science, Music, Languages and Sport sits alongside outdoor learning and Forest School experiences across our two Bromley sites, creating a school day that feels dynamic, purposeful and engaging. The best way to understand Breaside is to experience it in person. We warmly invite families to arrange a private tour or attend an upcoming Open Morning to explore our Widmore Road and Orchard Road sites, meet our team and see the school in action.

At King’s, we are dedicated to making sure every pupil’s time at school is supported, enriching, and shaped around their personal talents and interests. The 11+ provision at Junior King’s (for pupils aged 3–13) is central to this approach, providing a smooth and thoughtfully planned transition into Senior King’s while maintaining the many benefits of a prep school education. Starting at Junior King’s in Year 7 allows children to enjoy two additional years of prep school learning, where curiosity stays at the heart of education, creativity is encouraged, and opportunities for exploration remain wideranging. Pupils in Years 7 and 8 experience a

broad and stimulating curriculum enhanced by small class sizes, outstanding facilities, and strong pastoral care. Every pupil is recognised as an individual and supported in ways that enable them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Through places offered at 11+ give families confidence when planning ahead. Pupils benefit from regular interaction with the senior school through visits, joint events, and lessons taught by Senior King’s staff. This familiarity nurtures a sense of continuity and belonging, so that when they progress to Year 9, the move feels comfortable and positive.
The curriculum is also carefully coordinated across both schools. Our Global Perspectives programme begins in Year 7 and runs through to Year 9, encouraging pupils to think critically, ask questions, and examine global themes - excellent preparation for the demands of GCSEs, A Levels, and life beyond school.
While the 11+ route provides a strong and wellconnected pathway through King’s, we are equally proud of our large and lively 13+ intake. Pupils joining at this stage bring new perspectives, form new friendships, and help keep our community vibrant and diverse.
We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our Open Mornings, which take place throughout the year at both Junior King’s and The King’s School Canterbury. Individual tours can also be arranged by appointment.

In the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells, where independent shops still lend character to the High Street, Josephs Jewellers has built its reputation not only on what it sells, but on what it buys. Josephs is a trusted place to bring unwanted or unused jewellery and receive a fair, straightforward valuation.
While jewellers have traditionally been associated with life’s milestones, engagements, anniversaries and celebrations, there is an equally important, more practical role that often goes overlooked.

Businesses that buy from the public provide a vital service, offering individuals a reliable way to unlock the value of items that might otherwise sit unused in drawers or safes.
In this respect, Josephs serves as a bridge between sentiment and practicality, helping customers turn possessions into liquidity with confidence.
Selling personal items can feel uncertain, particularly in a market where prices and processes are not always clear. This is where an established, local business makes a difference. Josephs offers transparency, clear explanations and face-to-face interaction, qualities that online platforms and remote buyers often lack. Customers are not simply completing a transaction; they are engaging in a conversation, guided by experience and professional judgement.

The second-hand jewellery trade has sometimes been burdened by outdated perceptions. In reality, modern businesses in this field operate within strict regulations and place strong emphasis on fairness and accountability. By providing honest valuations and immediate payment, a local jeweller like Josephs reinforces trust within the community, something especially important in a town like Tunbridge Wells, where reputation matters.
There is also a broader significance to buying from the public. Each piece that passes through Josephs represents reuse rather than waste, contributing to a more sustainable, circular economy. Jewellery that might otherwise be forgotten is given a second life, whether through resale or transformation, ensuring that craftsmanship and materials retain their value over time.

Ultimately, businesses like Josephs endure because they offer something simple but essential: certainty. In moments when people choose to sell, whether out of necessity, practicality or change, they need clarity, fairness and discretion. By focusing on these principles, Josephs Jewellers demonstrates how buying from the public is not just a service, but a cornerstone of a resilient and trusted High Street presence.

Mortgages are rarely out of the headlines, but right now the market feels particularly unsettled.
Many people started the year expecting interest rates to fall further. That would have been welcome news for homeowners coming to the end of a fixed-rate deal, as well as those hoping to buy. However, inflation concerns and global uncertainty mean the outlook is now less clear.
That matters because mortgage lenders do not always wait for the Bank of England to act. They often move their own rates based on what they think may happen next. Deals can change quickly, sometimes with little warning.
So, whether you are buying, moving home or coming to the end of your current deal, here are five things to consider.
1. Start earlier than you think
If your mortgage deal ends within the next six months, it is worth looking at your options now. Leaving it too late could mean fewer choices or a move onto your lender’s standard variable rate, which may be more expensive.
2. Look beyond the headline rate
The lowest rate is not always the best deal. Fees, charges, deal length and flexibility all affect the overall cost. A slightly higher rate with lower fees may work better for some borrowers.

“At Citrus Financial, we help clients make sense of their mortgage options, whether they are buying, remortgaging or simply planning ahead.”
3. Be honest about affordability
It is not just about what you can afford today. Ask yourself whether the payments would still feel manageable if other household costs increased. Building in breathing space can help protect you from future shocks.
4. Get your paperwork ready
Lenders may need payslips, bank statements, proof of deposit and details of existing debts. If you are self-employed, they may ask for more. Having everything ready can help avoid delays, especially if deals are withdrawn quickly.
5. Take advice before deciding
It can be tempting to go direct to your bank or use a comparison site. But in a changing market, advice can make a real difference. A mortgage adviser can help you understand what is available, what is suitable, and what the true cost may be over time.
At Citrus Financial, we help clients make sense of their mortgage options, whether they are buying, remortgaging or simply planning ahead. You have worked hard to buy your home. Your mortgage should work as hard as possible for you. Call 01732 834834 or visit citrusfinancial.co.uk

In an uncertain market, the wrong mortgage decision could cost more than you think.
Mortgage lenders are changing rates regularly as the outlook for inflation and interest rates remains unclear, making decisions harder for homeowners and buyers alike.
The right advice could help you avoid paying more than you need to.
At Citrus Financial, our mortgage advisers can help you compare your options and choose a mortgage that suits your circumstances.
Let’s make your mortgage work harder

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Christina Dianellou has over 20 years of experience as a Solicitor, including nine years as a partner in a London firm and a decade of practice in Biggin Hill. Inspired by the challenges presented during the Covid-19 pandemic, she established her own firm, Themis Solicitors, in 2020. Her aim was to ensure that legal services remained available to clients amid the uncertainty, providing seamless continuity with a personalized touch that she felt was lacking during lockdown.
From a young age, Christina had aspired to enter the legal field, demonstrating a natural talent for problem-solving and resolving complex arguments. Her motivation to assist individuals in navigating their legal challenges—whether simple or complex—has been a driving force throughout her career. Themis Solicitors, named after the Greek Goddess of Justice and Law, reflects this commitment to justice. The name was inspired by her daughter, who suggested it during her study of the Classics; she has now joined Christina in the firm as a trainee solicitor after graduating with a First in her Law Degree.
The firm prides itself on delivering a personal touch to all clients, ensuring that face-to-face meetings are accessible despite the digital shift in service provision. With a dedicated team of six, including her husband and daughter, Themis embodies a family-centered approach, offering tailored legal solutions that align with clients’ needs. Every year, countless people are injured through no fault of their own. Yet many with valid personal injury claims delay seeking legal advice or never take action at all. Fear, uncertainty, and common misconceptions often stand in the way. Understanding these barriers is the first step towards securing the support, clarity, and compensation you may be entitled to.
According to Robert Sardo, specialist Personal Injury Solicitor at Thomas Dunton Solicitors LLP, one of the most common concerns is fear of the legal process. Many people imagine complex paperwork, intimidating terminology, or ending up in court. In reality, most personal injury claims are handled efficiently by a specialist solicitor and are resolved without court proceedings.
Another common reason for delay is believing the injury is “not serious enough” to claim. Even seemingly minor injuries can result in longterm pain, reduced mobility, time off work, and emotional distress. A solicitor can assess the wider and longterm impact of an injury - something insurers or online tools rarely take into account. Many people are also unaware of their legal rights. Compensation may include medical treatment, rehabilitation, loss of earnings, travel and care costs, as well as compensation for pain and suffering. Without understanding what can be claimed, people often miss out on support they are legally entitled to receive.
Concerns about cost are another major misconception. Most
reputable firms, including Thomas Dunton Solicitors LLP, offer No Win, No Fee arrangements, meaning there are no upfront costs and no financial risk if the claim is unsuccessful.
Some people feel intimidated by the legal system or attempt to deal with insurers alone. However, insurers are trained to minimise payouts, and claimants who do not seek legal advice often receive significantly less compensation. A solicitor handles the negotiations, paperwork, and communication, allowing clients to focus on their recovery.
Finally, many underestimate time limits. In most cases, a personal injury claim must be started within three years. Leaving matters too late can mean losing the right to claim altogether.
At Thomas Dunton Solicitors LLP, we have supported clients locally and beyond for almost 50 years. Our personal injury team puts people first, offering clear advice in plain English, No Win, No Fee funding, and a commitment to securing the maximum compensation possible.
If you have been injured, speaking to a solicitor does not commit you to a claim, it simply gives you clarity and control. Because above all else, your recovery matters.

As temperatures rise during the summer months, keeping our dogs cool, comfortable, and healthy becomes a top priority for every responsible pet owner. While fresh water and shaded walks are essential, one of the most effective ways to help dogs cope with warmer weather is through regular professional grooming, something House of Hounds in Petts Wood specialises in.
House of Hounds has earned a reputation for providing high-quality grooming services tailored to each dog’s breed, coat type, and individual needs. Their experienced team offers full grooms, de-shedding treatments, nail trimming, ear cleaning and hygiene services, all designed to keep dogs comfortable throughout the summer. Thick coats can trap heat, dirt and moisture, increasing the risk of overheating and skin irritation. Regular grooming removes excess fur, improves airflow to the skin and helps maintain a healthy coat during the hottest months of the year.
A standout treatment offered by House of Hounds is its mud bath service. These specialist treatments help loosen dead hair and undercoat, making shedding easier to manage while nourishing both skin and coat. For owners battling constant fur around the house, mud baths can make a noticeable difference while leaving dogs feeling refreshed and revitalised.

The salon also stocks a range of products to help dogs stay cool. Their cooling coats are ideal for warm-weather walks, helping to regulate body temperature and improve comfort on hot days. Dogs can also enjoy a delicious Marshfield Farm dog ice cream after their visit, the perfect summer treat for fourlegged friends.
There are several other ways owners can protect their pets during periods of hot weather. Dogs should always have access to fresh drinking water and shaded areas, while walks are best taken early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower. Cooling mats, paddling pools and frozen treats can also provide welcome relief.
Just as importantly, there are things to avoid. Never leave a dog in a parked car, even for a short time, and avoid vigorous exercise during the hottest part of the day. Owners should also be cautious about shaving double-coated breeds too short, as their coats provide natural protection from both heat and sunburn.
With expert grooming, specialist treatments and summer essentials available at House of Hounds in Petts Wood, local dog owners can help keep their pets safe, healthy and happy all season long.

Mystic Moods is a British studio-led fashion brand founded by Alina Stanila, producing limited-run garments in England.
At the centre of the practice is a fabric-led approach — where material, rather than concept, determines how each piece takes form.
Development begins directly with cloth. Fabric is handled, tested, and altered before any garment is defined. Surfaces are painted, layered, or left untouched depending on how they respond. The process is observational — guided by texture, weight, and movement rather than a fixed outcome. What emerges is not designed in advance, but found through interaction.
The studio works through return rather than constant change. The same materials, silhouettes, and techniques are revisited — adjusted slightly each time. This repetition allows garments to be refined gradually, building a consistent visual language without relying on seasonal direction.
Differences appear through subtle shifts in fabric, proportion, and construction.
Garments are developed once the fabric establishes direction.
Structure is introduced with restraint — seams, gathers, and volume are used to guide how the material moves. Construction is treated as a continuation of the textile process, not a separate stage. Each piece is resolved through making, with decisions happening in real time.
Work moves fluidly between stages.
Textile development, pattern cutting, and construction overlap — allowing pieces to be revisited and adjusted as they evolve. There is no strict sequence, only a continuous process of refinement.
This approach allows the collection to build as an ongoing body of work rather than a series of separate releases.
The garments are presented without excess They are worn simply, allowing fabric, form, and movement to remain the focus. Imagery reflects the same approach as the making — quiet, direct, and material-led.

“I work directly with fabric — testing, adjusting, and observing how it responds. Nothing is fully predetermined. Each piece develops through process, becoming something intentional over time.”

In an age of fast fashion and online shopping, there is something wonderfully reassuring about a boutique that has stood the test of time. For 40 years, Lucindas in Purley has been helping women look and feel their very best, earning a reputation for quality, service and timeless style.
Conveniently located just five minutes from Purley’s mainline railway station, with ample free parking available within a short walk, Lucindas offers a shopping experience that is both accessible and enjoyable. From the moment customers step through the door, they are welcomed into a fully air-conditioned showroom where complimentary tea, coffee, chilled water or even a glass of fizz helps create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The boutique’s experienced stylists are passionate about what they do and are always on hand to offer expert guidance. Whether you’re searching for a beautiful top, elegant trousers, a stylish skirt, cosy knitwear, a standout prom dress or sophisticated after-six wear, Lucindas has something to suit every taste, occasion and budget. Every collection is thoughtfully curated, with careful attention paid to quality fabrics, flattering fits and enduring style.
Perhaps the greatest testament to Lucindas’ success is the loyalty of its customers. The boutique has dressed generations of women, many of whom proudly report that they are still wearing garments purchased more than 35 years ago. In a world where trends come and go, Lucindas continues to champion fashion that transcends the seasons.
“Whether
you’re searching for a beautiful top, elegant trousers, a stylish skirt, cosy knitwear, a standout prom dress or sophisticated after-six wear, Lucindas has something to suit every taste, occasion and budget”

Community has always been at the heart of the business. The team regularly hosts charity fashion shows and exclusive in-store events, bringing customers together to enjoy canapés, bubbly and refreshments while discovering the latest collections.
As the retail landscape evolves, many neighbouring communities have seen the loss of long-established independent ladieswear boutiques. In nearby Chislehurst, two respected dress shops carrying several of the same labels stocked at Lucindas have closed in recent years, leaving many women without the personal service and sense of community they enjoyed. Lucindas extends a warm invitation to ladies from Chislehurst and surrounding areas to discover the boutique’s welcoming atmosphere and dedicated approach to customer care.
We look forward to welcoming you into Lucinda’s over a small refreshment, either a cold glass or a hot cup – decide on your style and budget, helped by our very experienced stylists.

Your local store for all outdoor clothing for the whole family, plus shooting accessories, leather goods, dog training equipment, and much more.
wner, Gail Thomas, explains how she got involved in this thriving business based in Badlesmere, just a few miles from Lenham on the Ashford Road.
Gail says: ‘I live at Eastwell Park, where my partner is the head keeper. Originally I was working for a national house builder selling houses but took voluntary redundancy. ‘
‘Enjoying a brief period of being a lady of leisure, I popped into a local shop, the Kent Wool Growers, for a pair of Wellington boots. Whilst there trying on boots, I chatted to the assistant who told me he had just got himself a new job and

would be leaving. He then mentioned that they hadn’t filled the vacancy and that the job would be perfect for me!
And so I ended up working for Kent Wool Growers for 7 years; a great place, very interesting and with great customers, fantastic characters and never a dull moment. This is where I learnt all about clothing, footwear and – most importantly – good customer service.
Chatting to a friend whilst having lunch in my local, I mentioned that I might like to go it alone and open my own shop. She then told me about possible premises that were only a few miles from home! The very next morning I viewed and secured it straight away. So started the ‘In The Country’ venture here in Badlesmere. Over the years I have added to the stock and am proud to say, I offer a fantastic range of clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women and children – oh! And mustn’t forget the dogs!
The shop has been open for nearly 9 years now and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have made and have never regretted it for a moment.’

Glasgow-based eyewear brand IOLLA has launched a seven new sunglasses styles priced at £85 as part of their latest Spring/Summer collection.
The Make The Most campaign is inspired by a familiar British behaviour - when good weather appears, plans change. Commutes get longer, meetings end earlier, and time moves outdoors... often at short notice. Designed for exactly these moments, IOLLA is positioning sunglasses as an everyday essential rather than something reserved for holidays.
To mark the launch, IOLLA introduced a weekend long Frame Amnesty across all UK showrooms. Customers could bring in any old sunglasses, regardless of brand or condition, and receive £10 off a new pair. All donated frames will be recycled, supporting a more sustainable approach to eyewear consumption.
The new collection features seven unisex acetate frames, available in a range of colourways and lens options including polarised and gradient finishes. Designed in Scotland, the range continues IOLLA’s focus on accessible, design-led eyewear.
Shot across Glasgow, the campaign captures small, recognisable moments - leaving work early, heading to the park, taking the long way home. Reflecting the unpredictability of British weather, the shoot continued despite overcast conditionsreinforcing the idea that the best moments aren’t always planned.
“British summer doesn’t wait,” says Kathryn McKerrall, Creative Lead at IOLLA. “When the sun shows up, even briefly, people respond instinctively. This collection is designed to be part of that moment - something you grab without overthinking. iolla.com

Are you struggling with knee osteoarthritis? There’s a groundbreaking, non-surgical treatment now available at North Downs Hospital that is redefining treatment for patients living with knee pain.
Revolutionary Treatment for Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. While joint replacement surgery is effective, it is also a major invasive procedure with a lengthy recovery period. But now, there’s an alternative.
Introducing Arthrosamid®
Arthrosamid® is a non-biodegradable injectable polyacrylamide hydrogel (2.5% iPAAG) implant consisting of 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide and 97.5% water. It is administered via a simple, one-step procedure performed under local anaesthesia by a qualified physician, such as an orthopaedic surgeon or rheumatologist1 — ensuring you’re in and out of the clinic the same day. Arthrosamid® is proven to maintain a significant, long-lasting reduction in knee OA pain2,3— even five years post-treatment.2
How does Arthrosamid® work?
Arthrosamid® is the first and only permanent injectable implant that integrates with the knee’s synovial tissue,4 forming a scaffold that softens and increases tissue elasticity. This leads to decreased joint stiffness, reduced pain, and improved knee function.5,6,7

“As a Consultant Knee Surgeon, my duty is to preserve the native joint for as long as possible. Many of the active patients I see are limited not just by knee pain, but by the frustration of losing their independence and active lifestyle. Treatments such as Arthrosamid offer a safe, minimally invasive option to reduce knee pain, improve function, and help delay or even avoid the need for joint replacement for up to 5 years according to the clinical data.”

The best homes, while having a character of their own, are intentionally organised around the lives, passions, and projects of the people who live within them. They make our favourite pastimes more accessible and daily activities more doable, from family life to plant life. Now, is there a surefire way to ensure that your home achieves the aforementioned? While there is no exact science, may we introduce you to a Swiss one instead?
USM have been solving the problems of the furniture world with the same simple solution

for nearly 65 years: their patented Haller system. Designed by the eponymous Fritz Haller, you can find a use case for USM in just about any walk of life – from multinational office floors to your very first apartment, and every setting in between. Thanks to its near-infinite number of configurations, which can be placed anywhere there are four walls and a ceiling (honestly, even that isn’t really a requirement), it makes short and stylish work of any task given to it. But just in case you can’t picture it, here are five ways the Haller system can instantly upgrade your home experience.
Crafting something in the comfort of your own home is among the most satisfying activities in the catalogue of hobbies. However, it truly begins with putting together a space that makes making easier – one that optimises your interiors so you can sew, stitch, and create to your heart’s content without worrying about where your next piece of fabric or dab of paint is going to go.
“Good design is made to be shared with the ones you love. As a third-generation family business, it’s something of a specialist subject of ours”

Our first solution on this list? The Haller mobile desk is blessed with places to keep your tools of the trade and castors that let you clear space quickly if you’re working on something that requires a little more room. Match it with a stylish stool, and you have your next workspace ready to roll.
Vinyl was once a thing of the future, then a thing of the past and now, once again, a thing of the present. The record collection of every music enthusiast is, without a doubt, their pride and joy, so it won’t come as a shock that how it’s stored and displayed is equally important. From grunge gurus to classical aficionados, we need a spot to admire the album art while we listen to those nostalgic notes.
Enter stage right: the Haller sideboard – the perfect place to store those vinyl discs and the turntable they spin on. Like any great duet, vinyl and the Haller system complement each other perfectly: classic style that blends seamlessly with the modern world.
Good design is made to be shared with the ones you love. As a third-generation family business, it’s something of a specialist subject of ours. The Haller system isn’t just for intimate, solo activities. This configuration is for those who take pride in their home being the place where it all happens for friends and family.
USM’s Bar Trolley brings gatherings and events to life with effortless, portable ease. It’s a rolling serving station that also acts as a movable piece of mid-century design. Whether it’s a platter of pastries or a glass of something to accompany dinner, use the trolley to ensure whatever you need at the table is always close at hand.
Nature – the greatest architect of them all (with Frank Lloyd Wright a close second). The plants and floral patterns we see in everyday life have been a wellspring of inspiration for designers the world over, and a mainstay of interiors since the time of the ancient Egyptians over 5,000 years ago. In the last decade, there has been an explosion of grow-your-own greenhouses, part of a broader effort to feel closer to gardens in an ever-expanding urban landscape and to bask in the health benefits of a more biophilic home.
USM’s solution for this green-fingered revolution? Just as simple as the Haller system itself: provide a place for plants to cohabit with the furniture they sit on. In simpler terms, create a dedicated gap for plant pots within the design.
Family-proofing the home – a somewhat unceremonious task. But more importantly (to design geeks like us anyway), an un-stylish one. Does family-friendly furniture have to be so plastic and uninspiring? The same recycled (not in a good way) pastel colours instead of a little personality. Not according to USM. Colour meets practicality in their children’s furniture range.
The best part of choosing Haller for your little ones? The furniture grows as your family does. From a toy box to a desk for revising, the adaptability of the designs makes it the perfect piece to keep adding to as your needs change – all while the effortless style remains the same. chaplins.co.uk

In an era where online shopping and flat-pack convenience dominate the retail landscape, independent furniture specialists continue to offer something increasingly valuable: personality, expertise and genuine customer service. London Road Furniture sits just opposite Fort Halstead on the A224, before its descent towards Sevenoaks and Otford, with easy parking on site.
The business has a long and distinguished history. Originally established in 1987 under the name Farningham Oak in the village of Farningham, it has spent almost four decades building a reputation for quality, reliability and exceptional customer care. Owners Teresa and Peter bring more than forty years of experience to the industry, offering

customers the kind of knowledge and expertise that can only come from a lifetime dedicated to furniture retail.
In fact, there is a good chance that you, your parents or someone you know has purchased furniture from them over the years. That level of recognition is no accident. It is the result of decades spent providing quality products, honest advice and a personal service that encourages customers to return time and again. They promise to match or beat the price of any other retailer or online supplier on the same product.

In the most refined gardens, innovation is never intrusive—it is seamlessly integrated, quietly enhancing both beauty and performance. With this philosophy at its core, Claber unveils the MyAquaSystem, a sophisticated new chapter in garden care: an advanced underground irrigation system designed for discerning homeowners who expect more from their outdoor space.
Installed discreetly beneath the surface, this elegant solution keeps your lawns, borders, and vegetable gardens looking natural while delivering precise, consistent watering exactly where it is needed. There are no exposed components, no interruptions to carefully considered landscaping—only flawless performance, working silently in the background.
At the centre of this elevated experience lies a fully connected ecosystem. The control unit, programmable solenoid valve and the iconic Hydro-4 have been reimagined with integrated Bluetooth® technology, allowing each element to communicate effortlessly. The result is a system that feels intuitive, responsive and entirely in

tune with the rhythms of your garden.
Control, quite simply, becomes second nature. With myClaber, you can manage every aspect of your irrigation from your Android or iOS smartphone. Adjust schedules, refine watering patterns or respond instantly to changing conditions—all from your smartphone. Whether at home or away, your garden remains under your complete and confident control.

True luxury, however, is as much about responsibility as it is about refinement. The addition of the intelligent Rain Sensor ensures that irrigation automatically pauses when rainfall is detected, preventing unnecessary water use and supporting a more sustainable approach to garden care.
It is a system that not only nurtures your plants but also respects the environment in which they grow.
The myAquaSystem range sets a new standard in irrigation—where technology, design, and environmental awareness come together. It is a solution crafted not simply to water your garden, but to elevate it.

Richmond Oak Glazed Extensions creates bespoke oak-framed and painted Hardwood living spaces for homeowners who want to add character, light and practical space to their properties. Specialising in oak conservatories, orangeries and garden rooms, the company focuses on designing extensions that feel individual rather than standardised. Each project is shaped around the client’s home, lifestyle and vision, helping to create a space that can be used for family life, entertaining or quiet relaxation.
A Richmond Oak glazed extension is designed to bring the outdoors closer while improving the way a home can be enjoyed throughout the year. The combination of glass and seasoned oak allows natural light to flow through the room, while the warmth and texture of the oak frame helps the extension blend beautifully with its garden setting. Whether the aim is a larger kitchen, a tranquil garden retreat or a stylish entertaining area, the company’s approach is centred on creating a room that feels both elegant and functional. By using fully seasoned oak a unique dual colour option is possible where the outside can be painted to match the house and still have a natural oak interior.
The business places strong emphasis on craftsmanship and durability. Its extensions are built using fully seasoned oak, chosen for its strength, stability and long-lasting appeal. Richmond Oak also highlights the importance of comfort, using features such as solar control glass, ventilation and heating solutions to help make its glazed spaces usable in every season. Using their unique solar control glass glazing to roof and frames you will not find it too hot in Summer or too cold in Winter.
Another key part of the Richmond Oak service is its support through the full design and build journey. The process begins with a consultation, followed by a bespoke design stage that can include 3D illustrations. Once the design is

approved, the company can deal with planning permission and building regulations before moving on to construction. As nearly half the Company’s work has been providing solutions for Listed Properties, this is particularly valuable for owners of listed buildings, conservation area properties and homes in sensitive locations, where specialist knowledge is often required.
With a focus on bespoke design, natural materials and a guided customer experience, Richmond Oak Glazed Extensions offers homeowners a way to transform ordinary areas into distinctive, light-filled living spaces that enhance both the property and everyday life. For more contemporary requirements the Company has it’s Hallmark Living Spaces range of timberalternative materials.

McColloch Roofing is the kind of company that reminds homeowners why trusted craftsmanship still matters. In an era where quick fixes and rushed renovations have become increasingly common, reliable roofing specialists continue to provide something far more valuable: long-term peace of mind.
Roofing may not be the most glamorous part of homeownership, but it remains one of the most important. A well-maintained roof protects not only the structure of a property, but also the people and possessions inside it. When problems arise — whether through storm damage, ageing materials, or general wear and tear — the quality of workmanship can make all the difference between a lasting solution and an expensive recurring issue.
That is why companies such as McColloch Roofing continue to stand out. In a competitive industry where reputation is everything, homeowners are increasingly looking for contractors who combine technical expertise with reliability, professionalism, and honest communication. Experience still matters, particularly in roofing, where attention to detail and proper installation are essential to ensuring durability over time.

“Roofing is no longer viewed as a simple maintenance task, but as a crucial investment in the long-term protection and value of a home”
There is also a growing shift in what customers value from service providers. Today’s homeowners want transparency, practical advice, and clear expectations from the outset. They are less interested in sales-driven approaches and more focused on finding specialists they can genuinely trust. Businesses that prioritise customer relationships alongside quality workmanship are naturally earning stronger loyalty and recommendations.
The home improvement sector has faced considerable pressure in recent years, from rising material costs to concerns over inconsistent standards. As a result, property owners have become far more selective about where they invest their money. Roofing is no longer viewed as a simple maintenance task, but as a crucial investment in the long-term protection and value of a home.
McColloch Roofing represents the type of dependable business many homeowners are seeking: experienced, professional, and committed to delivering lasting results rather than temporary fixes. In a trade where the best work often goes unnoticed once completed, consistency and trust remain the true marks of quality.
Ultimately, good roofing is about far more than tiles, timber, or repairs. It is about safeguarding homes, protecting investments, and providing reassurance that the job has been done properly the first time.

For two decades, Oliver James Furniture has quietly built a reputation across the South East for craftsmanship that feels both personal and enduring. In an age of mass production and fast interiors, the company stands apart by offering something increasingly rare: truly bespoke furniture, designed and made with care from the very first sketch to the final installation.
At the heart of Oliver James Furniture is a simple philosophy—homes should reflect the people who live in them. This belief is most evident in their bespoke kitchens, where thoughtful design meets precise manufacturing. Each project begins as a conversation, evolves through careful planning, and is brought to life by skilled hands. The result is not just a kitchen, but a space tailored to how clients cook, gather, and live.

Yet the company’s expertise extends far beyond kitchens. From elegant studies and practical boot rooms to beautifully crafted wardrobes, Oliver James Furniture approaches every commission with the same level of attention and pride. No two pieces are identical, because no two homes—or homeowners—are the same.
What truly defines the business, however, is its commitment to customer care. Clients are guided through every stage of the journey, from concept and design to manufacture, delivery, and installation. Even after completion, the relationship continues, reflecting a genuine dedication to ongoing support and satisfaction. There is also a quiet confidence in their approach. “If you can think of it, we can make it” is not a boast, but a reflection of experience, adaptability, and deep technical knowledge. It’s a friendly assurance backed by years of craftsmanship and a willingness to listen.
After 20 years serving the South East, Oliver James Furniture remains rooted in its values: quality, integrity, and personal service. In every detail—seen and unseen—they demonstrate that bespoke furniture is not just about how something looks, but how it is made, and how it makes people feel in the spaces they call home.

Updating windows and doors improves your home, but choosing the right company is what really makes an impact.
The older we get, the more we like to have things just as we’d want. The ultimate expression of that on the domestic front is to do as the Simmonds did, and live in a house that was designed for you. But that was 25 years ago.
‘When the house was built, we did it on a bit of a budget and used lots of reclaimed materials for the floors and fireplaces to create a bit of an Edwardian look that we like. The windows were wooden framed and the doors were wooden too. It all needed a lot of maintenance over the years and to be honest we were getting a bit tired of that.’
Looking for a low maintenance alternative, the Simmonds also wanted their replacement windows and doors to offer better insulation — the old ones had ceased to be draughtproof — and improve the property’s security. ‘It couldn’t have been much worse. The back door might as well have been made of balsa wood and the basic locks were well below the standard our insurers needed to see.’

Product quality is incredible today and it really helps to be able to see it for yourself
Fineline is unusual among suppliers of windows and doors because it has fully fitted out showrooms where you can see and choose from fully installed products rather than samples. ‘The Ipswich showroom people were very professional. They made it easy to choose windows and doors then pick contrasting interior and exterior colours and retro fittings that styled well with the rest of our home.’
At the showroom they help you see the possibilities, but it’s the installation teams that really seal the transformation of your home. ‘The Fineline team was nothing short of incredible. They took less than four days to do the whole job, working efficiently and professionally through awful weather. The finish was really high quality, neat, and accurate, and the whole result gave us a real sense of pride in our home – just like we felt when we first moved in.’
For more information on how Fineline can help with your next home improvement project, search Fineline-Windows.co.uk or visit your local showroom. Call 0800 666 444

For many homeowners, summer means switching off the heating and forgetting about boilers until colder weather returns. With warmer temperatures outside, it is easy to assume home heating can wait. But in reality, summer is one of the best times to think ahead and consider boiler replacement, heating upgrades, and modern options such as underfloor heating. Too often, heating systems only get attention when something goes wrong — usually during the coldest months of the year. An ageing boiler breaking down in winter can create stress, disruption, and unexpected expense. By reviewing your heating system during summer, homeowners can make informed decisions without urgency and ensure their home is prepared well before temperatures drop.

Modern heating technology has evolved significantly. New boilers are designed to improve energy efficiency, lower running costs, and provide more reliable performance. If your current boiler is over 10–15 years old, replacing it could help improve comfort while potentially reducing energy consumption.
Summer is also an ideal time to explore newer heating options such as underfloor heating. Growing in popularity across both renovations and new-build projects, underfloor heating offers consistent warmth, increased comfort, and a cleaner aesthetic by reducing the need for wallmounted radiators. Installed in kitchens, bathrooms, extensions, or entire homes, it is a heating solution more homeowners are considering as they future-proof their properties.

This is where PPHS – Professional Plumbing and Heating Services can help. With extensive experience in boiler installations, heating upgrades, plumbing services, and underfloor heating solutions, PPHS supports homeowners in finding heating systems that suit both their property and budget.
Choosing an experienced heating specialist matters. Professional advice, quality workmanship, and reliable installation can make a significant difference to long-term performance and efficiency. PPHS takes pride in delivering trusted service, expert guidance, and tailored solutions designed around customers’ individual needs.
Planning ahead during summer means fewer surprises when winter arrives. Whether considering a boiler replacement, exploring modern heating options, or simply seeking advice on improving home efficiency, PPHS – Professional Plumbing and Heating Services helps homeowners stay one step ahead — delivering comfort, reliability, and peace of mind all year round.
