In today’s digital world, much of our personal, social and financial lives now take place online. From email accounts and social media profiles to cryptocurrency wallets, online banking and photo libraries stored in the cloud, these are all part of what is known as your digital assets. Just like physical possessions, they need to be considered when planning your estate according to B P Collins’ private client team.
What are digital assets?
Digital assets are not just financial accounts. They also include sentimental items such as family photos stored online, social media accounts, personal blogs, digital music libraries and even gaming accounts. Some of these have monetary value, others emotional significance, but all form part of your digital footprint.

What happens to digital assets when you die?
Under the law in England and Wales, digital assets that can be transferred, such as cryptocurrency or accounts containing funds, will generally form part of your estate. If you haven’t made a Will, they will pass under the intestacy rules. However, difficulties often arise because your executors may not know these assets exist or may be unable to access them. This is why clear planning is essential.
Why you shouldn’t list passwords in your Will
Although your Will is a crucial document for stating who should inherit your digital assets, it is not the place to record passwords. Once probate is granted, a Will becomes a public record, meaning any sensitive information inside it could be seen by others.
Instead, it is safer to create a separate digital asset register - a list of key online accounts and assets - stored securely. Access details, such as login credentials or encryption keys, should be stored safely, for example in a password manager, so your executors can access them when necessary.
Cryptocurrency needs special attention
Cryptocurrency can be passed on through your Will, but your executors must have the private keys or login details to retrieve it. Without these, the asset may be effectively lost. For individuals holding crypto, ensuring secure but accessible storage is crucial.
Social media and email accounts
Email and social media platforms have their own rules on what happens after death. Some providers allow accounts to be memorialised or deactivated, while others enable you to nominate a trusted digital legacy contact who can manage parts of your account. Setting this up during your lifetime can ease the administrative burden later.
The risks of not planning
Failing to deal with digital assets can result in:
• Loss of valuable or sentimental content
• Delays and complications for your executors
• Difficulty closing or managing online accounts
• Potential security risks from unattended digital profiles
Simple steps to put in place now
• Create and maintain a digital asset register
• Use secure storage for access details, such as a password manager
• Include clear instructions in your Will about who should inherit digital assets
• Consider appointing an executor who understands digital accounts
From social media accounts to photo libraries, digital assets are now a key part of your legacy. The private client team at B P Collins can help you make sure your online presence and digital wealth are properly protected and passed on according to your wishes. This touring show has come to MK from Leeds and is curated by acclaimed figurative painter Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, bringing together a diverse group of international artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, film, and drawing from the 19th century to the present day.

‘I’ve selected things that I love by dint of their poetry, their beauty, their refusal, their internal logic and, above all, their power. Each artist here invents the language they need and there is magic in it.’ — Lynette Yiadom-Boakye

To Improvise a Mountain invites visitors on a contemplative journey through pieces that engage with themes of identity, beauty, activism, and intimacy, ranging from the visceral PostImpressionism of painter Walter Sickert to the radical video essays of The Otolith Group.

Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield Old Town has long been unapologetically decadent, but with the arrival of BEAR by Carlo Scotto, indulgence takes on a deeper meaning — quite literally. Hidden beneath the hotel’s opulent exterior lies an intimate, 14-seat chef’s table offering an eightcourse dining experience that celebrates Britain’s wild bounty in extraordinary style.
Guests begin their journey in BEAR’s warm, wood-panelled lounge, where sunlight shimmers across the outdoor pool, before descending into a dramatic subterranean dining room. Dressed in iridescent blues and golds, the space glows with geometric Philip Jeffries wallpaper, aged brass sconces, and amber glass pendants. At its centre, a striking horseshoe counter of Nero Portoro black marble invites diners to gather around and watch Chef Carlo and his team at work — a rare, unfiltered connection between kitchen and guest.
Rooted firmly in Britain’s natural larder, Scotto’s cooking redefines the farm-to-fork ethos. Around half of the ingredients are foraged daily from the

Chiltern Hills and nearby woodlands — from lung oyster mushrooms and burdock root to wild garlic and blackthorn berries. Each day’s menu is shaped by nature’s spontaneity, ensuring no two experiences are ever the same.
Our tasting journey begins with delicate canapés such as langoustine with kohlrabi, oyster leaf and shiso, before unfolding through creations like Ike Jime Chalk Stream Trout with wild sea beets and Ardbeg, Agnolotti filled with rolet gem squash and black garlic, and Miso-Glazed Duck with blue moon radish and Umeshu jus. Desserts celebrate the landscape too — from Quince Tart with Beaconsfield honey and truffle to Apple with marigold and bergamot granite.
Pairings are instinctive and ever-evolving, featuring rare wines, artisanal meads, vintage sakes, and refined non-alcoholic infusions.
Constantly attuned to the seasons, BEAR by Carlo Scotto offers more than a meal — it’s an immersive encounter with Britain’s untamed chef, one exquisite plate at a time.
The experience is nothing less than spectacular! It wouldn’t surprise me if BEAR by Carlo Scotto received sparkling praise by a certain French tyre manufacturer in the not to distant future.

Autumn is the time when the fruit bushes and trees are laden with this year’s harvest. I was delighted to receive a glut of quince gathered from the garden of a most generous client who dines at the restaurant and lives in Old Amersham. The quince is an unusual crop, it is a hard fruit, a cross between an apple and a pear and has a wonderful, fragrant aroma. The flesh goes pink when it is cooked and for
this sumptuous preserve the colour will deepen to dark, amber pink, November brings our thoughts to comforting and slightly layered desserts however as we are just entering the door into winter, I thought I would share a lighter more subtle recipe which has a great flavour combination and has a multitude of variations with the set cream. Here I have used the delicious quince for the jelly however apples work equally as well.
Ingredients
Serves 6
For the Quince Jelly
• 2kg quince (or cooking apples)
• 900g granulated sugar
Method
For the Qunice Jelly
1. Chop the fruit roughly (do not peel or core) place in a heavy pan with 1.2L of water bring to the boil & simmer till the fruit is soft
2. Place a damp tea towel over a colander on top a large bowl or bucket strain the fruit without pushing it through
3. Allow to drip through overnight
4. The next day measure the juice and for every 600ml of juice allow 450g sugar
5. In a heavy pan mix in the sugar & juice stir till dissolved then bring to a rapid boil for 10 minutes
6. Skim the liquid & place in sterilised jars, allow to set in a cool space.
For the Set Cream
1. In a large saucepan, gently heat the cream, buttermilk, milk and vanilla pod and seeds with the caster sugar until the sugar has melted – don’t let it boil or the buttermilk will curdle.
2. Meanwhile, soak 3 gelatine leaves in cold water for 2 minutes until soft and spongy. When the cream is steaming, take off the heat and, after squeezing out any excess water, add the gelatine. Stir until completely dissolved. Strain into a jug, then pour into 6 tumblers or wine glasses. Leave to cool, then put in the fridge for 3-4 hours to set.
For the Set Cream
• 500ml double cream
• 70ml buttermilk
• 150ml whole milk
• 1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped
• 60g caster sugar
• 3 gelatine leaves

To Serve
Spoon out a little of your quince or apple jelly on top of your set cream glasses or tumblers even a simple apple or fruit purée / sauce works well with this set cream and has the advantage of being something you can make in advance and can be pulled out the fridge slightly before needed to allow the flavour to shine.

Lucy Gordon, Head of Pre-Prep at The Beacon in Amersham gives her advice.
What advice do you have when selecting a Nursery or School?
Choosing the right setting for your child should be an exciting experience. Visiting websites as the first point of call will give you a good flavour. Arrange a visit during an open day as well as during a normal day where you can see the children in action, engaged in their learning and play. Request a tour, meet the staff and ask questions.
Pay particular attention to the mood of the children and relationships, whether the children appear happy and what interactions are like between children and staff.
Can you envisage your child happy and settled in the environment?
Consider class sizes and the structure of the day. At The Beacon, class sizes are small with excellent child to adult ratios. The staff get to know each pupil well, their interests and families. The Beacon team are happy to chat to parents and keen to know all about each child. Parents are welcome to speak with Nursery staff at drop-off and pick-up. Opening hours and location are important factors. Convenience is key, particularly for busy working families.
• Are shorter days offered as well as longer hours for Nursery?
• Is there wrap-around care? Do they provide additional meals and snacks at these times?
• Is there a chaperoned bus or car service available to younger pupils?
• Is a holiday club provision available?
The Beacon offers a variety of holiday clubs run by trustworthy staff members who teach specialist subjects. These clubs ignite passion and develop skills outside of the school curriculum, including Cookery, Design & Technology, Art, Drama, Computing and Multi-Sports.

“A setting with an educational approach works with small groups to enable each child has the appropriate level of development, as well as being supported and challenged”
What sets an educational Nursery apart from other childcare options?
Little Beacons is an educational co-ed Nursery. Activities are structured through play-based and adult-led learning to ensure progression and development in the key areas, which are essential for future schooling.
Classrooms are set up with exciting activities daily including a weekly Maths and Literacy focus to encourage and enhance skills in these areas. Every term there is an engaging overarching topic such as celebrations, outer space or Mr Men stories. Often these topics are celebrated with themed days. Using a cross-curricular approach ensures that all learning is linked and enjoyed in an immersive fun way.

A setting with an educational approach works with small groups to enable each child has the appropriate level of development, as well as being supported and challenged. It offers specialist lessons to encourage each child’s development in specific subjects. At Little Beacons, specialist lessons are offered in Music, French, Games and swimming. This prepares pupils for the more formal timetable as they progress through to school.
There is a dedicated Pre-Prep Library which encourages a love of reading. Little Beacons choose their own story every week to take home and share with their family.
How can an early years’ programme contribute to academic success and well-rounded development of children?
Sessions must be engaging and fun. At The Beacon, the needs of young children are understood, many of the pupils love an active style of learning.
Fine and gross motor skills are developed through climbing, sand, water, scooter, bikes, dough, cooking and these skills prepare them for many academic aspects including early writing. Specialist PE staff encourage group work and team playing. Outdoor learning fosters the concept that learning does not have to be desk based. In the woods, activities are planned to develop speaking and listening, Maths, English and a love of nature.

“Fine and
gross motor skills are developed through climbing, sand, water, scooter, bikes, dough, cooking and these skills prepare them for many academic aspects including early writing.”

What’s important to ensure a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception?
Meeting the Reception teacher is the first step. Transition days are great. It’s beneficial to have a Nursery or Pre-School attached to the main school. Pupils at The Beacon are familiar with the setting and staff, they meet their Reception teacher on many occasions to build early relations. Staff have thorough hand-over meetings with the new teacher. Parents are invited in during the term before their child starts to speak with staff and visit. The solid start they receive in Nursery is built upon as they move into Reception.
The Beacon is an independent school for children aged 3-13. It is registered for Early Years Government Funding, providing access to 15 hours of free childcare per week (term-time) for pupils aged 3-4. Little Beacons Nursery is accepting girls from September 2026!

It’s a common and often frustrating situation for parents of new UK graduates. The job market is hyper-competitive, and while parents often see career coaching as a clear solution, their son or daughter may resist the help. The reasons for this reluctance are complex and often rooted in psychology.
Why graduates are sometimes reluctant to accept the need for coaching
• A Desire for Independence and Autonomy
• Graduates are at a stage in life where they are seeking to establish their own adult identity. Accepting a coach—especially one found or paid for by their parents—can feel like an admission of failure or a step backward into a dependent role. They want to prove they can succeed on their own terms.
• Perception of Coaching as Unnecessary or Irrelevant
• Many graduates believe their degree should be enough to land a job. They may feel they already have the necessary skills and are simply facing a tough market.
• A Mismatch in Communication Style
• The way a parent offers help can sometimes feel like a directive or an order, rather than a supportive suggestion. This can trigger a defensive reaction, as the young adult may feel you’re implying they aren’t capable of handling their own job search.
• Social Stigma and Pride
• There can be a sense of shame or embarrassment in admitting you need help, especially for a generation that is highly connected on social media.
How Parents Can Persuade Them
The key is to shift from a directive, problem-solving approach to a supportive, collaborative one.
• Shift from “You Need a Coach” to “Here’s a Resource.”
• Instead of presenting the idea as a personal failing, frame it as a helpful tool. Say something like, “I know the job market is really tough right now.
I’m not sure if it’s the right fit, but I thought it might be worth a look.”
• Respect Their Independence

• Emphasize that the decision is ultimately theirs. Let them know you are there to support them in any way they choose. This shows respect for their adult status and reduces the likelihood of them feeling controlled.
• Highlight the Practical Benefits
• Frame coaching not as a sign of weakness, but as a strategic advantage. You could say, “Coaches are really good at helping people get through AI-powered CV scanners and practise for video interviews.”
We help graduates every step of the way, and we are the UK’s numberone coaching company.
Graduate Coach does all of this and more, don’t hesitate to enquire about the help you could get for your child today.

Every child dreams of a place like Hogwarts - and Clayesmore comes close. Not just for its turreted buildings, beautiful Dorset campus, and exceptional food, but because it offers something even more powerful than magic: a place where every child can discover their strengths and who they are meant to become –curious and creative, bold and adventurous, thoughtful and kind, or driven and determined.
Tucked away in the rolling Dorset countryside, Clayesmore has spent over 130 years weaving this quiet kind of magic – the kind that doesn’t rely on spells, but on connection, care, and curiosity. Success here isn’t defined by a single path; it’s a journey that unfolds uniquely for each individual.
Clayesmore is a school where every child is known - not just by name, but by nature. Teachers recognise each child’s spark, strengths, and story, and in that recognition, children experience something transformative: belonging. When a young person feels seen, understood, and valued, something extraordinary happens – they begin to believe, and from that belief comes

possibility.
The journey begins in the Prep School, where specialist teaching in art, design, music, languages, and sport helps children explore their gifts and build a foundation not just for learning, but for life.
As students move into the Senior School, the world opens wider. The curriculum challenges and inspires, encouraging each child to shine –whether through science or sculpture, coding or climbing, drama or debate – while building resilience, leadership, and independence. By Sixth Form, students stand tall in their own stories. Small class sizes, expert guidance, and a wide choice of A Levels and BTECs give each individual the freedom and support to carve their own path.
As one grandparent reflected: “Clayesmore has given our grandchildren an exceptional education, strong values, and the confidence to take on the next stage of their lives.”
When children belong, they believe; and when they believe, they become – scholars, artists, leaders, dreamers – whatever their story is meant to be. For families seeking more than results – a place where every child can truly belong, believe, and become – Clayesmore is waiting to welcome you.

Peter, primary teacher
Tell us a little about your journey to becoming a teacher... After sixth form, I worked as a primary school teaching assistant and completed my degree while working.
Why did you select Astra as your training provider?
I was recommended to Astra by a colleague. What they were offering was perfect for me in terms of travel, support and school placement opportunities.
What have been the highlights of your training?
When you identify the progress made, it’s a great feeling. The support Astra provides is amazing and the social aspect of training with peers makes the teacher training journey even more enjoyable.
What have been the challenges?
I found one of my placements challenging to begin with as it was a different environment to what I was used to. However, that experience made me a stronger, more confident teacher.
Top advice for anyone considering teaching?
Organisation, commitment to self learning and building positive professional relationships.
Katherine, primary teacher
Tell us a little about your journey to becoming a teacher... After a 25-year career in HR, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to do something to be part of the community and to give back.
Why did you select Astra as your training provider?
Astra has strong links with the schools in my area and offered the opportunity for me to train part time which, as a busy mum, were both crucial factors.
What have been the highlights of your training?
I love the fact that the training is so hands-on and I spend so much time in school. I enjoy Primary subject days learning how to teach each part of the curriculum.
What have been the challenges?
There is a lot to juggle and it helps to be very organised!
Top advice for anyone considering teaching?
Go into it with your eyes wide open. The training and the first years of teaching are hard work. It is so much fun though and I am glad that I chose to challenge myself. It is never too late to make a career change!

The study, by the Sutton Trust education charity, shows that virtually every key profession is dominated by privately educated pupils grabbing the senior management/director positions

Their grip on power is most noticeable in the judiciary, where 74 per cent of leading judges (those in the High Court or Court of Appeal) were privately educated.
Figures in the report also show that one in three MPs (32 per cent) was privately educated –as were half the members of the Conservative Cabinet. Even in Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet, 13 per cent of members went to private school. Nationally, the figure is just 7 per cent.
The report, carried out by Dr Philip Kirby, goes on to show that 71 per cent of senior Army officers – two-star generals and above – went to private schools. Only 12 per cent attended comprehensives.
“The
higher echelons of journalism are also dominated by the private sector, with 51 per cent educated in independent schools”
In medicine, 61 per cent of doctors were privately educated while 22 per cent went to selective state grammar schools and just 16 per cent to comprehensives. The list goes on – 48 per cent of civil servants were educated privately, 29 per cent went to selective grammar schools and 23 per cent to comprehensives.
The higher echelons of journalism are also dominated by the private sector, with 51 per cent educated in independent schools. And of those chief executives of FTSE 100 companies who were educated in the UK, 34 per cent were privately educated.
Nearly half the top actors – 42 per cent of Bafta Award winners – went to private schools, fuelling criticism that the profession is becoming more elitist.
“Our research shows that your chances of reaching the top in so many areas of British life are so much better if you went to an independent school,” said Sir Peter Lampl, the chairman of the Sutton Trust. “As well as academic achievement, an independent education tends to develop the essential skills such as confidence, articulacy and teamwork, which are vital to career success.

You have worked hard to build your pension savings throughout your career. So, you’ll want to be sure that you can use your wealth to achieve your later-life goals.
Alongside using your pension to support your lifestyle, you might also have one eye on what kind of legacy it will enable you to leave your loved ones.
However, the rules around pension savings and Inheritance Tax (IHT) are set to change from April 2027.
Pensions were previously exempt from IHT. So, they’ve been treated as a flexible, tax-efficient way to pass on wealth. Individuals have then drawn their retirement income from cash, ISAs, and investments first, preserving their pensions for their loved ones to inherit.

But, with pensions set to be brought into the IHT net from April 2027, this strategy may no longer be the most effective for you. Instead, the suitable approach will depend on your goals, family circumstances, and how your wealth is currently organised.
So, what can you do now? While the right course of action will be individual to you, it’s sensible to start by reviewing the basics.
For example, you might want to:

• Review your beneficiary nominations and expression of wishes so the right people inherit as you intend
• Revisit how you draw your retirement income from pensions, ISAs and other investments to manage Income Tax today and potential IHT later
• Make gifts under tax-free allowances and exemptions, such as the annual gifting exemption and, if suitable, regular gifts from surplus income, while protecting your own long -term security
• Consider life insurance written in trust to help your beneficiaries settle a future tax bill, easing pressure on your executors and family.
The sooner you start planning, the better. That way, you’ll give yourself enough time to align your retirement withdrawals, gifting, and investment strategy with your legacy aims. Crucially, you’ll want to review regularly as your life and the rules change, keeping your plan flexible in case of further developments that affect you.
Effective planning can reduce the risk of an unintended tax bill, while giving you confidence to enjoy your retirement. If you would like to explore what the proposed 2027 changes could mean for you, Agility Financial can help you build a clear, tailored plan.

For many families, Christmas is a time of excitement and tradition. But for separated parents, it can also be emotional and sometimes difficult, especially when deciding where the children will spend the holidays. The best way to avoid conflict is to plan early, keep communication calm, and focus on what really matters which is making Christmas joyful for the children.
Start the conversation early
The best way to prevent a last-minute argument is to talk about arrangements in advance. This gives everyone time to think things through and avoids rushed decisions when emotions are high. Many families choose to alternate Christmas each year or divide the time, such as one parent having Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, and the other having Boxing Day. Every family is different. What matters most is finding an arrangement that feels right for the children and manageable for both parents.
Keep the focus on the children
Children notice when things feel tense, even during happy times. They do best when parents work together and make plans that let them enjoy Christmas with both families. It helps to think about where they will feel relaxed, secure and able to have fun. Even small compromises, like sharing a few hours on Christmas morning or arranging a video call, can make a big difference.
Use mediation if needed
If discussions become difficult, mediation can help. At Blaser Mills we have two trained mediators who can provide a neutral space to talk things through and reach an agreement that works for everyone. Mediation is often faster, less stressful and far cheaper than going to court. Solicitors can also help parents negotiate calmly and record what’s been agreed in writing, giving clarity for the future.
“The best way to prevent a last-minute argument is to talk about arrangements in advance”
Avoid leaving it too late

If you do need a court order to settle arrangements, it’s important to act early. The family courts see a surge in applications leading up to Christmas, and deadlines for festive hearings are usually set in the autumn. Leaving things until December often means there’s no time for a decision before the holidays. Taking early advice can help you understand your options and reduce uncertainty.
Keep communication kind
When emotions are high, it’s easy to let frustration spill into messages or handovers. Keeping communication polite and focused on practical details helps avoid unnecessary tension. Using mobile apps or written calendars can also make planning simpler and reduce misunderstandings. Christmas doesn’t have to be a battleground. With early planning, open communication and a willingness to compromise, most parents can find arrangements that work.
At Blaser Mills, our Family Law team supports parents in finding calm, practical solutions to child arrangements

Grandparents often play a vital role in the lives of their grandchildren, offering love, stability, and a connection to family history. Yet, when family relationships break down—through separation, divorce, or conflict—grandparents can sometimes find themselves excluded from their grandchildren’s lives. This can be painful not only for the grandparents, but also for the children, who lose a valuable source of care and support.
In the UK, grandparents do not have an automatic legal right to see their grandchildren. However, the law does recognise the importance of these relationships. Grandparents can apply to the court for permission to seek contact, and courts will generally look favourably on applications where it is clear that contact is in the best interests of the child. The guiding principle is always the welfare of the child, not the wishes of the adults.

The best way forward is usually to resolve matters without resorting to court. Family mediation, negotiation, and careful legal guidance can help families find solutions that work for everyone—ensuring children maintain strong bonds with their grandparents while minimising conflict. Seeking professional advice early can prevent misunderstandings from escalating and preserve family relationships for the long term.
“In the UK, grandparents do not have an automatic legal right to see their grandchildren. However, the law does recognise the importance of these relationships”
As family lawyers, we understand both the emotional and legal complexities of these situations. We work to protect children’s wellbeing while supporting grandparents in maintaining meaningful involvement in their grandchildren’s lives. If you are facing difficulties, we encourage you to seek advice and explore your options before matters become more entrenched.
We offer a free initial consultation to help you understand your legal position and explore the best path forward.

As a doctor- and nurse-led clinic, we provide intravenous vitamin and nutrient therapy, which delivers targeted, high-dose nutrients directly into the bloodstream for maximum impact. For quick, focused support, we offer vitamin shots that boost immunity, metabolism, mood, and energy within minutes.
We also specialise in deeper regenerative therapies. Medical Ozone Therapy is a powerful tool for detoxification and immune support.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy enhances tissue repair, brain clarity, and recovery in ways clients are often amazed by. And I’m proud to say our clinic houses one of the UK’s few Human Regenerator systems - an advanced cold plasma technology that supports mitochondrial energy, cellular repair, and inflammation reduction.
And not forgetting, Red Light Therapy, which is clinically shown to enhance skin rejuvenation, boost collagen production, accelerate muscle recovery, and improve overall cellular vitality. Let’s start with combating the cold and winter months ahead.
One of the easiest, most transformative things you can do for your health is understand your

Vitamin D status. Vitamin D deficiency is widespread in the UK, and the consequences can be profound - affecting immunity, hormones, mood, metabolic function, and longevity.
“Vitamin D isn’t just a vitamin - it behaves like a hormone that switches on over 200 genes involved in immunity, metabolism, and cellular repair.” -
At IVBOOST UK, we offer a quick 15-minute finger-prick test that evaluates your Vitamin D level against your weight and body composition. But we don’t aim for the bare minimum. We aim for optimal levels, because optimal is where you feel and function at your best.
Inflammation is at the root of fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalance, pain, and chronic disease. One of the simplest and most accurate ways to assess this is through your Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio. Most people today have ratios far outside the ideal range.
We can measure this easily in-clinic and support you with personalised strategies to rebalance inflammation and protect long-term health.

If your gums bleed, your breath is malodourous or your teeth feel loose, you may be among the 50% of adults with moderate to severe gum disease. The early stages of gum disease are usually painless, so these symptoms are often ignored until the condition worsens. In its latter stages, gum disease becomes more difficult to manage and often leads to tooth loss but there is growing scientific evidence that chronic gum inflammation affects more than just your teeth and mouth. It can impact your overall health and wellbeing.
Chronic gum disease is usually caused by poor oral hygiene with genetics, smoking, and diabetes increasing the risk of it developing and your body’s response to it. Dentists recommend brushing twice daily for at least two minutes and cleaning between teeth once a day with interdental brushes. This helps prevent plaque buildup and keeps gums tight and healthy. Inflamed gums are more ‘permeable’ and bleed easily, but equally allow bacteria and toxins to enter the systemic bloodstream.

Research shows that these bacteria and inflammatory products are linked to serious systemic conditions including heart and kidney disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, rheumatoid arthritis, cognitive decline and metabolic disorders. Simply put, poor gum health can raise your risk of developing chronic illness.
Prevention is key: maintain a rigorous daily oral hygiene routine and visit your dentist every six months for assessment and professional cleaning. If bleeding, bad breath, or loose teeth persist despite doing all this, you may have gum disease and it is advisable to see a periodontal specialist promptly or risk losing some, or all of your teeth.

Introducing Dr Lea Stone, the GP Bringing Harley Street–Level Care To Your Home

There’s a particular kind of calm that arrives when the doctor steps over your threshold and takes a seat at your kitchen table. For patients along the M40 corridor, from Paddington to Amersham, across West London, South Buckinghamshire, West Hertfordshire and East Berkshire, that reassuring presence will often be Dr Lea Stone, one of Doctorcall’s home-visiting GPs.
Why Home Visits Matter
Lea likes home visits for their honesty. There are soft clues everywhere: the steep stairs that turn a chest infection into an ordeal; the partner who quietly fills in details; the carer who arrives at two; the dog that lowers someone’s blood pressure on sight. “You don’t just see the illness,” she says. “You see the whole picture. That’s how you make a plan that actually works.”
Care That Fits Your Life
Patients value Lea for her calm, structured approach. Consultations are thorough, explanations in plain English, and a plan is agreed before she leaves. Where needed, prescriptions are issued on the spot and referrals to trusted specialists are arranged without delay. She can do

consultations in English, Afrikaans and German, but for every other language she has access to a live translation service, so we’re always talking your language.
For families, ongoing care and busy professionals alike, the appeal is clear: clinical judgement forged in emergency medicine, delivered with the discretion of a home visit.
Doctorcall’s Modern Home Visit Tradition
“Patients value Lea for her calm, structured approach. Consultations are thorough, explanations in plain English, and a plan is agreed before she leaves”
Doctorcall pioneered private GP home visits in London in 1989. The model is classic but cleverly updated: 24/7 visits in London, live ETAs, sameday appointments in other major UK cities (subject to availability), and UK-wide video or phone consultations when it is the suitable option.
Coverage & Booking
Areas: West London, South Buckinghamshire, West Hertfordshire, East Berkshire (M40 corridor, Paddington → Amersham).
Visits: Homes, hotels, offices.

Doctorcall comes to you, 24/7/365
With Doctorcall, you can choose your doctor and receive premium, personalised medical care, whenever you need it. Enjoy same- day appointments, round-the-clock availability, and real-time ETAs, all from the comfort of your home. Private GP care, whenever and wherever you need it.

Are you struggling with a health concern that conventional medicine is not fixing? Are you keen to learn new ways to improve your health, wellbeing and longevity? Welcome the ‘Human Repair Café’, a free weekly drop-in clinic arriving in Henley-on-Thames this month.
Hosted by Seed Wellness and supported by the local council, the cafe offers a place for people seeking new ways to alleviate common health conditions from fatigue, chronic pain, hormonal imbalances and digestive issues to chronic conditions and even disease.
What is it and why this name?
Seed Wellness is a collective of local, carefully selected holistic teachers and practitioners working both alongside and independent of GPled care, plugging the gaps where conventional medicine has been unable to provide adequate solutions.
Said Tiff Kertesz, Seed’s ambassador in Henley, “With an increasingly creaking healthcare system designed to treat illness over wellness and symptoms over cause, we believe NOW is the time to approach health from a new perspective.
“The Human Repair Café offers an exciting addition to the local health landscape — a holistic, restorative hub enabling people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about the minefield of therapies available and what may be able to help them. Our approach focuses on improving health outcomes through different modalities, lifestyle and education.”
“With the local council behind us, this initiative can really make a real difference to those struggling with both new and ongoing health concerns. We are also now working closely with the NHS and local GPs, offering a more integrative approach to our patients and communities - something that is long overdue.
“We aim to roll this café out across surrounding regions too so that everyone everywhere can benefit.”
The café offers:
• Access to collective of trusted practitioners under one umbrella
• A “menu” of health-concerns rather than just treatments.
• A warm, community-oriented atmosphere rather than a cold clinic, focussing on empowerment, education and supporting clients to take control of their own wellness.
• A personalised, multi-modal approach rather than a one-size-fits-all.
• A focus on root causes.
• Open to everybody regardless of age and background.
Please note - always consult your GP/consultant before starting new therapies, especially if you’re on medication or have serious conditions.

The Human Repair Café is launching on Thursday 13th November @ The Kings Arms Barn in Central Henley, from 12:30–2:30pm. For more information email info@seedwellness.co.uk or visit www.seedwellness.co.uk.

Moving to a smaller home doesn’t have to be about what you may be giving up, it may actually mean a truly luxurious lifestyle. The real luxury of downsizing lies in the freedom it offers; freedom to focus on what really matters to you. In fact, decluttering can also bring a sense of clarity and control
The Denton, part of the Elysian Residences luxury retirement collection, exemplifies this approach, recognising that there’s isn’t a stereotypical older person or a ‘one size fits all’. This is why they’ve created a unique, beautifully crafted residence in Berkhamsted, inspired by the architecture of the local area, with well-designed spaces that suit whatever your lifestyle. With a maintenance team responsible for the building and grounds you can devote your time to the life you want without the demands of upkeep.
There is a restaurant and bar for you to enjoy, using seasonal dishes and ingredients from local suppliers, along with wellness centre including a gym and many fitness classes and activities you can experience on your own terms. The beautifully landscaped central, sunken courtyard provides a social hub to meet with friends or family, or simply for relaxing. Their luxurious apartments are distinct, spacious and light filled with private terrace, panoramic views over the Chilterns and

plenty of space and freedom to decorate in your own style. The Denton is a modern sanctuary, rooted in the life of its thriving local community. The point here is for you to create the lifestyle you want. In this context luxury is not measured by the size of your home but by the freedom to choose how you spend your time.

If you ask Anne Hackett, the first-ever renter at Castle View Retirement Village in Windsor, she’ll tell you moving in was one of the best decisions she’s made - even if it took a little nudge from her daughter.
Anne’s story starts with a gentle push: after spinal issues left her struggling with stairs, her daughter stepped in and visited Castle View, deciding it was the perfect place for Anne to live comfortably and independently. Anne had been to Castle View for concerts and events before, so the transition felt natural once she said yes to renting.
What sets Anne’s move apart is just how easy and quick it was. From her initial enquiry to unpacking her bags, the whole process took only three weeks - no need for lawyers or lengthy chains. The Castle View team made sure Anne felt supported every step of the way. “Everyone went out of their way to make me feel at home,” Anne says, noting the warmth of fifty or so homeowners and residents who welcomed her with open arms. Since moving, Anne has found her new life at Castle View full of comfort and activity. Her apartment is beautifully furnished, quiet, and packed with storage - little touches that make a big difference. “It’s so well-designed and insulated, and if anything needs sorting or fixing, I don’t
have to worry. The staff here are incredibly polite and help sort anything quickly,” she shares.
Anne regularly joins coffee mornings and lunch events, enjoys community film nights in the Sky Lounge, and says the bistro meals are just as appealing as her own kitchen creations. There’s a genuine sense of safety, companionship, and independence at Castle View, along with the peace of predictable costs that renting brings.
If you’d like to explore the same stress-free move that Anne enjoyed, Castle View is offering flexible rental options - and you could be settling in before Christmas.
Enquire today and see how easy it can be to start a new chapter in Windsor, surrounded by great company and all the comforts of a thoughtfully managed retirement community.

– Keep it local for everything house and home –

When it comes to creating homes that feel considered, soulful and beautifully balanced, few do it better than Amber Organ, founder of Maché Interiors. This month, she shares how to approach your next interior project like a designer.
Even for professionals, creating a home that feels authentically you can be a challenge. You’re emotionally invested, too close to the outcome, and trying to represent not just yourself but often a whole family dynamic. Add to that thousands of paint colours, endless furniture choices, and far too many opinions, and it can feel like a mountain to climb.
“You have a whole house to play with, compromise doesn’t have to live in every room.”
Amber, Maché Interiors
Amber says, “At Maché Interiors, we often remind clients that good design isn’t about perfection or looking like your home belongs in a magazine. It’s about creating a space you love to spend time in, one that makes your life easier rather than harder.”
Maché Interiors is a Hertfordshire-based design studio focused on creating spaces that tell their owners’ stories. No two spaces are ever the same, because no two people are. Maché is trusted for designs that are not only visually beautiful but also rich in depth, feeling, and character.
Here, Amber shares her top tips on how to tackle your next interior project:

Where should I spend, and where can I save?
Every project has limits, whether time, budget, or patience. The key is knowing your priorities.
If you’re likely to move again in the next few years, focus your spend on the pieces you can take with you, a beautiful sofa, good lighting, meaningful art. These travel well and carry your style with them. If you’re settled for the long term, invest in the bones: flooring, layout, lighting. You can always layer in comfort and colour later, but structure is harder to change once life has moved on.
How do I create balance when we all love different things?
One of the most common challenges is designing for more than one taste. But compromise doesn’t need to live in every room. Try dividing the house by experience, calmer, more neutral spaces where you gather; bolder, more personal choices in rooms where you retreat.
“At Maché Interiors, we often remind clients that good design isn’t about perfection or looking like your home belongs in a magazine. It’s about creating a space you love to spend time in”

But how do you create synergy?
The next question I’m always asked is: how do you stop the house feeling disjointed if rooms have different moods?
The key is choosing a connected colour palette for the whole home, then dialling those same tones up or down depending on how you want each space to feel. All colours have quieter and louder versions. Olive can become soft sage, terracotta can become blush, navy can become pale blue.
Another way to create cohesion is through repeated texture or material, the same warm wood, brass finish, or curved shapes popping up in several rooms ties the story together even if the colours shift.
How do I know when it’s finished?
You don’t, it’s allowed to grow with you. Once the core palette and layout feel right, it’s often better to live in the space for a bit and add things slowly and see how it feels day to day. Some of the most loved rooms evolve over time, one piece found on holiday, a gifted painting, a chair moved from one room to another. It’s a process, not a deadline.
Amber will be back next issue to help tackle more of your design questions and guide you through preparing your home for the festive season and beyond. If you have a question for Amber, share it on Instagram @macheinteriors or via her website www.macheinteriors.com for a chance to be featured.

Introducing the Introvert Chair, a new design collaboration between Moooi and artist Robbie Williams – global superstar, expressive artist and self-proclaimed master of mixed feelings.
Inspired by Robbie’s own inner ups and downs, this chair is a soft place to land when the world gets a bit too... world-y. It’s cocooned, sculptural, womb-like (his words) and upholstered in a signature fabric that feels like kindness with texture.
The result? A seat that’s both a design object and an emotional escape space. Comes with pillows. Doesn’t come with social expectations.
The Introvert Chair is a sculptural sanctuary that’s curved to cocoon and padded to please. Designed by singer-songwriter and cultural icon Robbie Williams, the chair captures the feeling of slipping away into your own little world. Whether you’re reflecting, reading or people-watching without being watched, the Introvert Chair offers a comforting pause from the noise.
Known for his extroverted stage presence and legendary music career, Robbie Williams surprises the world with a piece that celebrates stillness and solitude. Created in close collaboration with Moooi, the chair is an authentic expression of his own inner world that’s designed not for the spotlight, but rather for stepping out of it.
The chair’s softly sculpted form and generously padded frame feel like being wrapped in a hug. Its tactile, woolly signature fabric makes you feel warm and comfortable while the matching pillows invite you to adjust and nest in your own way. With its enveloping curves and gentle silhouette, the chair makes a quiet statement in any interior.
More than just a seat, the Introvert Chair is a mood. One that values introspection, boundaries and emotional wellbeing. It invites you to take up space without performing. To turn inward. To be alone, but never lonely.
The collaboration between Moooi and Robbie Williams reflects a shared love for the unexpected. Born from an artistic partnership grounded in vulnerability, humour and design intuition, the Introvert Chair is an open-hearted invitation to slow down. The result? A chair that turns heads without requiring eye contact.
We’re proud to be one of a select few UK partners chosen to present The Introvert Chair by Robbie Williams — a bold Moooi collaboration that turns introspection into an art form. On display now at our Greater London showroom, the full set includes the chair, three Comfort Cushions and The Security Blanket featuring Robbie’s exclusive artwork. A tactile expression of comfort and creativity, it’s already sparking conversation across the design world. chaplins.co.uk

When the outside world feels chaotic, we gravitate towards colours and textures that bring us a sense of peace and calm.

Amthal Karim, Head of Design at Furniture And Choice comments:“Blue is an easy favourite, and its many tones reflect our desire for calm, balance and tranquillity. For 2026, Dulux’s blue colour family, Free Groove™, Mellow Flow™, and Slow Swing™, are here to make your home feel serene and carefree, while providing a safe anchor for relaxation.
Dulux’s Free Groove™ is an indigo tone that inspires us to slow down after a long day. Like the sky at twilight, Free Groove™ provides the perfect backdrop for lighter accents to shine. Choosing Free Groove™ as the feature wall colour in the living room adds depth with its vibrant undertone. It invites the opportunity to contrast with light neutrals like a cool grey, white or cream. The intense and dreamy vibe of Free Groove™ is ideal for experimentation like colour drenching, where it can be used in the living room, bedroom or study for maximum effect.
Mellow Flow™, on the other hand, is a light and airy blue, perfect for making any room in your
home feel more open and spacious. Just like its connection to the sky and water, Mellow Flow™ will put anyone at ease and is a great option for rooms that don’t receive much natural lighting. Choosing natural textures like wood, cotton and linen against this light blue backdrop creates a tranquil, layered look that fits in with a variety of interior styles like Scandi interiors and midcentury modern. Sticking to uncluttered silhouettes, like a modern sofa with clean lines, will also make the room feel tranquil and expansive.
Described as ‘a meditative dark blue’, Slow Swing™ is a grounding and versatile tone. If you’re worried that it will overwhelm the room as a wall colour, you can use it as an accent, from your sofa upholstery choice to accessories like artwork. As a sofa colour option, it serves as the calming anchor when paired with textures like velvet or plush fabric. Slow Swing™’s deep and grounding qualities make it easy to pair well with other earth tones like beige, camel or dark walnut so it’s best to bring in wooden textures for contrast.”

BoConcept’s exclusive tips
with Helena Christensen
BoConcept invites you to experience the magic of a Danish Christmas – where timeless design meets hygge-inspired living. This holiday season, BoConcept captures the essence of Scandinavian warmth and minimalism through natural materials, soft lighting and meaningful craftsmanship. Guided by Global Artistic Director Helena Christensen, the collection celebrates the art of atmosphere, connection and calm – transforming homes into serene festive sanctuaries.
In Denmark, winter’s long nights are softened by a warm, glowing light – the cornerstone of Danish festive living. “Lighting is everything at Christmas,” says Helena Christensen. “I scatter candles all around my home – tea lights, pillar candles, anything that adds a soft glow. And I love mixing in statement lighting that doubles as décor.”
This season, BoConcept’s sculptural lighting brings ambience and artistry together. The portable Paris lamp offers organic light you can carry anywhere, while the Paddle pendant and Demand oor lamp in festive metallic nishes elevate both warmth and style. Layered lighting becomes an invitation – to gather, to unwind, to simply be.

Natural textures and materials are at the heart of Danish design – and the holidays are no exception. “I always hang up a mistletoe and put pine branches everywhere around the house,” says Helena. “I love the smell of pine needles and a replace roaring.” To recreate that grounded, organic calm, combine the Carmo modular sofa in moss green with Terracina travertine-effect coffee tables and Teddy cushions in warm, earthy tones. Add greenery in the sculptural Flora vase, also designed by Helena, for a subtle festive touch that blurs the line between indoors and nature.
For Danes, the dining table is where connection truly unfolds. The atmosphere is intimate and unpretentious – oak tones, soft textiles and candlelight take centre stage. Start with the circular Madrid or Santiago dining tables in oak, whose organic shape encourages closeness and conversation. Pair with Seoul chairs for a re ned yet relaxed aesthetic. table welcomes extra guests with effortless grace, while the matching sideboard provides the perfect stage for glassware, candles and festive drinks.
Amid the gatherings and laughter, Danish Christmas traditions also celebrate ‘ro’ – a word meaning calm and stillness. “I can’t wait to make a cozy Christmas corner around the Ø,” Helena says. “I’ll place it near a replace so I can lay in it with a great book and a mug of warm gløgg.”
BoConcept’s Ø lounge chair, designed by Helena, captures this sense of cocooning comfort – oversized, enveloping, and irresistibly tactile. For those who prefer softer silhouettes, the Bolzano armchair in bouclé or velvet offers an elegant retreat. Complete your corner with a Kingston side table, woollen throws, pouffes and textured cushions – the perfect recipe for hygge this holiday season.

We were struggling to sell our property because potential buyers kept coming back with concerns about the roof. One couple had their roofer say it needed replacing – quoting £18,000. Wanting clarity, we contacted Britton Roofing, who carried out a roof assessment and, for a few hundred pounds, provided a detailed report. Remedial work was needed, but the roof was otherwise in a serviceable condition. The repairs cost us £3,000. Britton Roofing saved us money, time and hassle, and we were able to hand the home over in good order.
A roof isn’t just a layer of tiles — it’s a complex and critical part of a building. There are many different roof systems, each with specific construction methods, materials, and detailing. Understanding how they work together requires more than basic trade skills — it demands both roofing expertise and wider building knowledge. We frequently attend properties where

previous work has failed — not always from bad intentions, but from poor understanding. Inexperienced roofers often misdiagnose issues, offering superficial fixes. These kinds of mistakes can lead to more serious damage, additional cost, and unnecessary stress for homeowners. Our approach is grounded in detailed assessment, informed judgement, and a commitment to providing durable, evidence-based solutions.

Our background in building preservation and restoration sets us apart. Our teams combine roofing expertise with a deeper understanding of how moisture, materials, and structures interact over time. We deliver professional roofing and damp cure services tailored to the condition and history of each property. From comprehensive assessments to high-standard remedial works and full roof replacements, every project is handled with a focus on longevity, building integrity, and cost-effective outcomes.
Britton Roofing is an established business with over 30 years of experience in the roofing industry, serving local towns and villages.
We proudly thrive on reputation and integrity. Our team reflects these values through their workmanship and attention to detail on every job. It’s this commitment to craft, integrity, and long-term value that makes us a trusted name among homeowners and property professionals who expect more than a quick fix. www.brittonroofing.co.uk
