The Trusted Name in dealing with high end luxury goods

With 8 stores in London , the home counties and Manchester, Posh Pawn has become a trusted name in the luxury market—not only for short-term lending, but also as a reseller and purchaser of pre-loved luxury items, including designer bags, fine jewellery, watches, art , classic and prestigious cars along with many other high end luxury assets.

Founder James Constantinou, star of the hit Channel 4 show Posh Pawn, talks about how it all began and what continues to drive the business forward.

James launched Prestige Pawnbrokers during the 2008 financial crisis. “Pawnbroking was very different when I first started,” he says. “Back then, the demand for cash rose rapidly, and people were coming to us with family heirlooms and sentimental pieces. Today, amid the cost-of-living crisis, we’re seeing a similar pattern—customers turning to us to loan against their luxury assets.”

Now operating eight Prestige Pawnbrokers stores nationwide, James has built a unique empire, having appraised everything from helicopters and Lamborghinis to rare letters from royals and rock stars.

“James has built a unique empire, having appraised everything from helicopters and Lamborghinis to rare letters from royals and rock stars”

“2024 has been one of our best years yet,” James shares. “Pre-loved luxury is very much on trend. Consumers are becoming more sustainability-conscious and are eager to get better value by purchasing pre-loved items. At the same time, collectors are always on the lookout for rare, sold-out, or limited-edition pieces.” We have gained a reputation as the go to establishment for those looking to sell their jewellery, watches and handbags too. Our in house experts and ability to transact swiftly has put us at the top of the tree in terms of purchasing from those wanting to cash in their goods.

Over the years, Prestige Pawnbrokers has handled an array of remarkable items. One of the most memorable? A collection of deeply personal, handwritten letters from Brian Jones, a founding member of The Rolling Stones.

“These letters were addressed to Brian’s mother and father and dated back to the time before the band became famous,” James explains. “They were discovered in the attic of his parents’ former home and contained heartfelt reflections about his life and music career. Tragically, Brian was found dead not long after writing them. Given his legacy in British rock history, these letters are irreplaceable—they’re more than valuable; they’re priceless.”

As Prestige Pawnbrokers continues to grow, James and his team remains committed to redefining the luxury resale and lending market ensuring every client experiences a seamless, respectful, and rewarding journey—whether buying, selling, or borrowing.

New Warhol exhibition at Lightbox Gallery

An ARTIST ROOMS Partnership Exhibition with Tate and National Galleries of Scotland

Floor one gallery: Saturday 19 July - Sunday 2 November 2025

Floor two gallery: Saturday 26 July - Sunday 2 November 2025

This summer, Lightbox Gallery presents an exhibition featuring major works by Pop Art icon Andy Warhol, in partnership with Tate and National Galleries of Scotland. Significantly, it will be the first time that many of these works have been shown in Surrey.

This solo exhibition, showcasing around 100 works by the internationally renowned American artist, spans two floors and features some of Warhol’s most significant artworks. The exhibition is drawn from ARTIST ROOMS, a national touring collection jointly owned by Tate and National Galleries of Scotland.

The exhibition offers a comprehensive exploration of Warhol’s artistic evolution and remarkable achievements in the context of post-war America through an array of paintings, screenprints, drawings and photographs.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) created some of the most iconic images of the twentieth century,

securing his place as one of the most influential artists in history. As a prominent figure in the Pop Art movement, Warhol was deeply fascinated by the allure of fame, popular culture, consumerism, and mass production. His artistic prowess extended across various visual media whilst challenging preconceived notions about fine art. In doing so he blurred the lines between art and popular culture.

The first-floor gallery will display the vibrant impact of Warhol’s super-sized works, while the second-floor gallery provides an intimate look at rarely displayed drawings and photographs, offering a deeper insight into his artistic process.

Andy Warhol also explores the artist’s confrontation with his own mortality following his near-fatal shooting in 1968. This exhibition highlights works that incorporate symbols of Warhol’s fixation on death, including guns, skulls, and war themes. Using Polaroid and 35mm cameras, Warhol documented the fleeting world around him, capturing candid self-portraits as well as images of friends and celebrities, offering a personal insight into his life as he sought to preserve moments and people in defiance of time’s passage.

“We are delighted to continue our commitment

to making extraordinary art accessible to our audiences”, says Sarah Brown, Director at Lightbox Gallery. “We have a proud tradition of bringing world-class art to Surrey, from our 2011 British Pop Art exhibition to Warhol and the World of Pop Art in 2015. A decade after our last Warhol show, we are thrilled to welcome his work back to the gallery, reaffirming his enduring influence on contemporary culture. Warhol’s work remains as vibrant and thought-provoking as ever, and this exhibition offers a fresh opportunity to engage with one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century.”

From early studies in the 1940s to his work with leading magazines and major brands in the 1950s, this exhibition explores how Warhol successfully combined commercial illustration with fine art. The evolution of his signature style through the 1960s and 1970s is reflected in his obsession with famous icons, advertising and media culture. The exhibition features Warhol’s iconic 1967 screenprint portraits of Marilyn Monroe, alongside striking posters of Elizabeth Taylor, The Beatles and many more. Beyond his role as an observer of celebrity culture, Warhol also recognised the significance of fellow artists and photographers in the art world, as seen in his important portrait paintings of Gilbert & George (1975), Joseph Beuys (1980), and Robert Mapplethorpe (1983).

CLARIDGE’S CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF ART DECO

as it unveils a yearlong celebration of the Roaring Twenties

To celebrate the centenary of Art Deco this year and the Paris Exhibition of 1925, Claridge’s, London’s Art Deco jewel and favourite haunt of the Bright Young Things, a glittering group from the 1920s, has unveiled a yearlong series of celebratory guest experiences, activations and collaborations, reinforcing the hotel’s position at the heart of this much-loved Roaring Twenties era.

Art Deco adventures throughout the year include Deco tours of the property from Claridge’s renowned archivist, Great Gatsby pre-theatre dinners in Claridge’s Restaurant, Flapper and Hanky Panky cocktails served in original Lalique glassware in The Fumoir, Charleston Masterclasses from The Bees Knees, a decadent Bright Young Things Claridge’s sleepover, as well as a celebration of Cecil Beaton’s Fashionable World at the National Portrait Gallery in October.

The Bright Young Things were the carefree generation of dazzling young aristocrats and socialites who lit up interwar London, and threw lavish fancy dress parties, drank exotic cocktails and whose antics inspired writers from Nancy Mitford to Evelyn Waugh as well as society photographer Cecil Beaton.

Celebrating this extravagant era a century later, Claridge’s has delved deep into its archives to capture the magic of living life as a Bright Young Thing – including:

Claridge’s Art Deco Tours - monthly behind the scenes tours of the hotel from Kate Hudson,

Claridge’s renowned archivist. Discover iconic Art Deco historical details such as the Jacques Adnet Deco doves and original Lalique designs personally presented to Claridge’s by Renee Lalique.

Bright Young Things Claridge’s Sleepover - in Art Deco designed rooms and suites complete with indulgent Hanky Panky cocktails, limited edition Flappers and Philosophers book by F Scott Fitzgerald (a regular Claridge’s guest) and original Art Deco bottles of centenary scent, Shalimar by Guerlain. Guests are welcomed with a specially curated 20s jazz playlist and Bright Young Things movies from Midnight in Paris to The Artist.

Cecil Beaton’s Cocktails at Claridge’s – signature 20s recipes from The Flapper to Southside Fizz all from The Cecil Beaton Cocktail Book served in original Lalique glassware in The Fumoir, the Deco bar at the heart of the hotel, tying in with the opening of Cecil Beaton’s Fashionable World at The National Portrait Gallery in October.

Charleston Masterclasses – Learn how to dance like the Bright Young Things with London’s finest flappers - The Bees Knees.

Claridge’s Art Deco Salons – a series of intimate talks in The Painter’s Room from some of Claridge’s favourite Deco family; vintage queen Virgina Bates on fashion, music maestro Alex Le Roux on Jazz Age sounds, Scentfluencer Alice Du Parcq on famous fragrances, design aficionado

Bryan O’Sullivan on Deco details, Claridge’s floral king Richard Eagleton on 1920s in bloom.

The Great Gatsby - pre-theatre dinner in Claridge’s Restaurant – soak up the 1920s vibe and dazzling dishes before heading to the new musical production of The Great Gatsby at The Coliseum.

Claridge’s Archivist, Kate Hudson, comments “To celebrate this Art Deco centenary, we have dug deep into our treasured archives to find rare pieces that create a window that reflects the hotels position at the heart of the Bright Young Things. Here we showcase everything from glorious, rare front covers of Tatler to dance cards and programmes for glamorous balls with deco green and silver designs, hotels brochures and luggage label with geometric Claridge’s logos so evocative of the time.”

SCENTED VISIONS: Smell in Art 1850-1915

At Watts Gallery until 9th November, Scented Visions is the first exhibition to explore the iconography and symbolism of scent in nineteenth and early twentieth-century art.

Featuring paintings by, amongst others, Anna Alma-Tadema (18671943), Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale (1872-1945), Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896), Evelyn de Morgan (1855-1919), Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882), John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) and G F Watts (18171904), the exhibition examines how these artists conveyed scent in their art and how the ideas they held about smells and smelling informed their paintings in intriguing ways.

Thanks to the inclusion of AirParfum technology, these ideas are brought to life for the 21st century visitor through a multi-sensory experience. In partnership with Artphilia and the Spanish fashion and fragrance house Puig, bespoke fragrances have been created by Gregorio Sola, Senior Perfumer and Creative Director at Puig to accompany two paintings in the exhibition: The Blind Girl, 1856 (Birmingham Museums Trust) by John Everett Millais, and A Saint of the Eastern Church, 1867-68 (Birmingham Museums Trust) by Simeon Solomon.

Scented Visions opens with an exploration of the popular image of women smelling flowers.

This motif conveys a range of meanings, from saintly purity to sexual abandon. Central to this section of the exhibition is G F Watts’s muchloved painting of his first wife, Ellen Terry (Choosing), 1864 (National Portrait Gallery), a pioneering example of this theme. In the painting, the actress Ellen Terry is portrayed in the process of choosing between the luscious, showy blooms of the unscented camellia pressed to her face, and the handful of sweet-smelling wild violets clutched to her heart. The painting alludes to the artist’s feelings about the choice (so recently made by Terry at the time of painting) between the temptations of a flamboyant life of vanity on stage and a comparatively innocent and simple life as Watts’s wife and muse.

In the section ‘Scent and Spirituality’, the link between faith and smell is explored. It is here that visitors can experience the two paintings accompanied by three custom-made scents dispersed via Puig’s AirParfum olfactory technology. For A Saint of the Eastern Church, 1867-68 (Birmingham Museums Trust) Puig’s Senior Perfumer and Creative Director Gregorio Sola has developed a scent that invites viewers to enter the imagined church of the saint with the

aroma of smouldering frankincense emitted from the brass censer, myrtle flowers, beeswax candles, polished wooden pews, the coolness of interior stone columns, and even the Saint’s vestments. The myrtle has particularly intriguing symbolism. It has various meanings in different cultures, standing for love, male sexual vigour, nakedness, shame, good deeds and god’s love. A queer artist, Simeon Solomon’s painting perhaps alluded to the sanctity of gay sex at a time when homosexuality, and incense in Anglican churches, was both illegal and taboo.

The exhibition ends with Evelyn de Morgan’s The Cadence of Autumn, 1905 (The De Morgan Foundation), which highlights the changing visual imagery of scent in painting at the turn of the century. A ribbon of smoky blue odour evokes the scent of autumn leaves, swept up by the breeze, both a response to the cultural mood of lament following the Boer War and, painted in De Morgan’s 50th year, her personal reflections on the passing of time and the ‘seasons of life.’

This exhibition has been developed in partnership with The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Birmingham, and was originally exhibited there under the title Scent and the Art of the PreRaphaelites. The exhibition at Watts Gallery is an expanded version, further developing themes and subject matter through the addition of seven new painting loans.

Gregorio Sola, Chief Perfumer and Creative Director, Puig, says on the creation of the scents:

“When working on the perfumes for the paintings, you pay attention to the small details. You imagine what Millais or Solomon were feeling with each stroke of their paintbrush, then you

build up the perfume expressing yourself through the ingredients of the fragrance.

Perfume is like a diamond with different sparkling facets, blended and created in a harmonious way to offer you a unique experience, just like the brushstrokes of a painting. Your nose can explore the perfume from one note to another, but all of them are part of the same composition. Like in a symphony, when you are captivated by the melody of one of the instruments – in the perfume you can identify the scent of green apples, grass, or the earthy notes of ditch water arising from within the painting.

Thanks to AirParfum technology, you can smell all of those facets at the same time or get caught in just one of them, like when you are wearing your fragrance on your skin and you can smell all of the richness of the perfume.” wattsgallery.org.uk

Gardening with a more ‘natural’ feel takes centre stage at Chelsea Flower Show

Nature made its mark on this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, with gardens showcasing wild habitats, resilient landscapes and natural planting.

Celebrities got a first glimpse of this year’s show at the preview, before the King and Queen toured the annual horticultural event at the Royal Hospital Chelsea celebrating all things gardening.

Celebrities including Cate Blanchett, Dame Joanna Lumley and David Tennant were among those getting a sneak preview of the world famous

event, along with Sir David Suchet and Zoe Ball. TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh was at the show, where he urged people to keep an eye out for Colorado beetles, which pose a “savage” threat to the British potato industry – with the first outbreak for 50 years recorded in 2023.

Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden described a “bit of a leap” in sustainable innovation at this year’s show after presenting the event’s award for best sustainable garden product of the year to Sneeboer Trading’s garden scoop.

And designers said many of the gardens this year had a “very natural feeling”, as people crave a connection with nature, with gravel paths bleeding

into planting, paving with moss and plants growing through it and native plants from foxgloves to cow parsley featuring at the show.

Nigel Dunnett, whose Hospitalfield Arts Garden grown in sand evoked the Arbroath coast where the charity is based, said the sand-growing approach was a “hot topic” at the moment, as the UK struggles with a dry spring and the extremes of climate change loom.

And he said his garden was “plant-filled”, trying to fill as much of the space as they could with plants.

“That’s a common thing around most of the gardens. They do have a very natural feeling,” he said.

“Creating this immersive natural experience is something that people are really craving, rather than hard landscapes.

“It’s this connection with nature, which so many of us are now losing, and gardens and public places in cities are real opportunities to reintroduce people to.”

The garden will be relocated to a primary school in Arbroath now that the show has finished, and he added there was a “duty” to reconnect children

with nature so that future generations could have the spark that prompts a love of gardening.

One of the most natural gardens at this year’s show was the Wildlife Trusts’ rainforest garden, highlighting Atlantic temperate rainforest habitat which once covered western coasts of Britain, the island of Ireland and the Isle of Man, but has shrunk from about a fifth of land to just 1%.

The garden highlighted efforts by the trusts, in partnership with insurance company Aviva, to restore and protect the habitat, and show how nature-friendly gardening can help British wildlife.

The garden’s designer, Zoe Claymore, said: “We are going for perfectly imperfect and celebrating joy and life.”

She described the garden as organised chaos, pointing to trees “on the wonk” to showcase nature’s resilience, native plants and trees such as Welsh poppies, bluebells, cowslips and foxgloves, and highlighting mosses and ferns as the “stars of the show”.

“More wild is perfection, because perfection in horticulture isn’t about everything the same, it’s about the joy and connection plants bring you and nurture your soul,” she said.

“I think a more wild garden is more what it is to be human.”

And Rob Stoneman, director of landscape recovery at the Wildlife Trusts, said the garden featured species such as cow parsley, which was a common hedgerow plant that many thought of as a weed but was “beautiful”.

He said that since Victorian times, it was understood that gardens and green spaces could bring the countryside into the urban realm and

benefit people’s health and mental health.

But a typical garden centre was filled with plastic and pesticides and had become artificial.

“I’m not saying all of that is bad, but actually, what we need to do is return back to this concept of bringing the countryside back into your piece of green space because you’ll get the benefits from that.”

He said the garden was peat and insecticidefree, and with native trees and plants, to help showcase how to “bring some of the wild to our city spaces”.

Elsewhere, dogs were given a rare chance to access the Chelsea Flower Show, with Monty Don’s dog Ned among those checking out the dog garden, which the TV gardener helped create alongside the organisers, the Royal Horticultural

“He said

Society and BBC Radio 2.

Mr Don revealed a fox had slept in the garden one weekend and highlighted some key features, including a dog house where they are “allowed to lie on the sofas”, a gate that leads out to an “imaginary countryside” for walks and a lawn looking “quite trashed already”.

“Having said I would never, under any circumstances, do a show garden anywhere, let alone at Chelsea, the RHS persuaded me by bringing dogs into the equation and I can’t resist the combination of dogs and gardens, which I’ve always had,” he said.

“So from the outset this was a garden intended to be for an owner of dogs and I wanted it to be a very simple garden. There’s no message, there’s no hidden back story. It is what it is. What you see is what you get.”

The garden, which was not judged, will be relocated to nearby Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, with Mr Don adding at the time: “We’re here for a week but hopefully (in) Battersea forever.”

Of All the People in All the World

Internationally acclaimed performance installation comes to Surrey for the first time.

Farnham Maltings, 11 – 15 July 2025

Of All the People in All the World – the internationally acclaimed performance installation by leading theatre company Stan’s Cafe – is coming to Farnham Maltings this summer. Significantly, it will be the first opportunity to experience this fascinating work in Surrey, following its worldwide tour from Birmingham to Buenos Aires, Leeds to Los Angeles, Truro to Tokyo and more.

Of All the People in All the World imagines human population statistics in extraordinary landscapes of rice. With one person represented by one grain of rice – and with performers continually developing the installation – the statistics realised in labelled piles of rice can include populations of towns and cities, the number of doctors, the number of people born each day and more.

Always changing and never static, audiences also have an opportunity to shape the installation – which will be created in the Farnham Maltings Great Hall - by suggesting statistics they would like to see ‘in rice’. Over the years it has been touring the world, requests have included the number of people who have swum the English Channel, the capacities of the world’s most famous stadiums and the number of people who queued to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II during her lying-in-state.

Beautifully simple yet hugely powerful, the statistics and their juxtapositions are also thought provoking: for example, the world’s billionaires seen alongside the number of people living in

refugee camps, the number of Africans forcibly taken and enslaved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the number of people who died in the Holocaust.

Peter Glanville, CEO, Farnham Maltings, said: “We are delighted to host ‘Of All The People...’ at Farnham Maltings. It feels amazing that this show, born in Birmingham, having been to Cairo, Buenos Aires, Adelaide, and Los Angeles to name a few, can be enjoyed here in Surrey. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy a highly acclaimed, truly international piece of work - free to enterthat has impacted people across the planet.”

James Yarker, Artistic Director, Stan’s Cafe, said: “We can’t wait to get to Farnham Maltings. We’re keen to learn about the town, to meet people and explore what the place is all about.

“The plan is to combine all this with what’s going on in the wider world at the moment and come up with a unique version of the show especially for you.”

The Magic of Learning at Aberdour

At Aberdour School, learning is anything but ordinary – our award-winning approach is joyful, innovative and hands-on. Every corner of the school is intentionally designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and make children truly love coming to school each day. Simply put, and as studies show, happy children are more effective learners.

Our pupils don’t just sit and listen; they experience. Whether it’s testing hypotheses in science using real-world tools, designing machines in our award-winning STEM facilities, or bringing history to life through immersive role play, we believe deep learning happens when children are active participants, not passive recipients.

Experiential learning is at the heart of the Aberdour philosophy. That’s why children might be found building bridges to understand physics or programming robots to explore the basics of coding. Through carefully crafted projects and cross-curricular links, we connect ideas to experiences, giving children the “why” as well as the “how”. This approach not only boosts knowledge, but builds resilience, creativity and teamwork – vital skills for life beyond the classroom.

A key part of our success is our exceptional STEM provision, which has received national recognition. Our Robotics Labs, Digital Creativity Centre and Factory are places of innovation, where even our youngest learners are encouraged to explore, experiment and engineer solutions.

From entrepreneurial competitions and sustainability challenges to tech-based problemsolving, our pupils are developing the mindset of future scientists, designers and leaders.

Yet what truly makes Aberdour special is the atmosphere: children feel safe to take risks, inspired to be curious, and proud to share their ideas. They’re supported by passionate teachers who know how to nurture brilliance in every child.

At Aberdour, learning is not a race, a score, or a worksheet – it’s an experience to enjoy. And that joy is something every child carries with them, long after their time at Aberdour.

Prada buys Versace: How will the rival labels collaborate?

Prada has agreed to buy Versace in a billion dollar deal – but what does this mean for the fashion house?

The Prada Group has announced that it has bought its smaller rival, Versace.

Prada acquired the Italian fashion house from Capri Holdings (who also own Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors) for €1.25 billion pending approval, following negotiations that began in February this year.

The purchase comes just a month after Donatella Versace stepped down from her role as creative director at the brand after nearly 30 years.

“We aim to continue Versace’s legacy celebrating and re-interpreting its bold and timeless aesthetic,” said Prada chairman Patrizio Bertelli.

While Prada intend to uphold Versace’s legacy, it’s difficult to see what this will do to Versace’s distinct identity.

Known for it’s maximal bold glamour, Versace has long been viewed as the more flamboyant Italian label when compared to Prada.

“Prada and Versace do sit on opposite ends of

the aesthetic spectrum,” explains global fashion model, Kamile Spann, “one known for its quiet sophistication, the other for its sensuality.”

“But as a model who’s experienced both on the runway, I think there’s incredible potential in that contrast.”

Spann says the differing design ethos can undoubtedly co-exist: “In fact, the tension between minimalism and maximalism could spark a creative evolution,” she says, “a fresh, modern fusion that still respects each house’s identity.”

Upon Donatella Versace’s departure from the label, Dario Vitale was appointed as Versace’s new creative director – marking the first time the role has left the Versace family.

“I first met Donatella 10 years ago for the first time and I love the passion she brings to everything,” says Spann. “Donatella is undeniably the heart of Versace, her influence is iconic, and her presence is felt in every collection.

“If she stays on creatively remains to be seen, but I believe she’ll continue to shape the brand in some form.

“Even if her role evolves, her vision and legacy are too integral to be removed. She represents continuity and in fashion, that sense of lineage is just as important as reinvention,” she says.

Vitale joined Versace from Prada’s sister brand Miu Miu, where he worked from 2010, most recently serving as design director of ready-towear before leaving in January.

Miu Miu is known as the younger and somewhat more energetic version of Prada’s intellectualised minimalism, meaning Vitale’s years with the label position him well to take up the new post at Versace.

How Versace is seen today is largely down to it’s 2000s rebrand when Donatella took over – following the murder of her brother Gianni Versace in 1997.

In 2000, Jennifer Lopez wore a now iconic green Versace gown to the Grammy Awards, which gained extensive media attention.

The dress was voted the fifth most iconic dress of all time, while Elizabeth Hurley’s black Versace dress, which she wore to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994, was voted most iconic dress of all time, according to a 2008 Daily Telegraph poll.

Both dresses were known for their daring sartorial designs, using cuts and silhouettes that had never been seen on red carpets before.

“Versace’s identity is iconic!” says celebrity stylist and fashion expert Oriona Robb, “you can spot it from a mile away.”

Robb says the key to transforming the brand is to preserve Versace’s essence while giving it room to evolve.

“If done right, this partnership could be the breath of fresh air Versace needs,” says Robb, “better infrastructure, shared resources and access to the kind of innovation Prada excels at.”

Prada has been under the creative control of Miuccia Prada since 1978, the granddaughter of Mario Prada who founded the business in 1913.

The label became known for it’s premium status symbol in the 1990s, and in 1996 Miuccia Prada had solidified the ‘ugly chic’ aesthetic that the fashion house was praised for.

The style initially confused customers by offering blatantly unsexy outfits, but Prada’s

original take on the relationship between fashion and desire soon garnered mass mainstream attention.

Since then, Prada has been regarded as one of the most intelligent and conceptual designers.

“From a stylist’s lens, this [collaboration] could bring a more elevated construction to Versace’s opulence, maybe even open doors for more wearable pieces that don’t lose that signature drama,” says Robb.

As both fashion houses have been under the creation of one fashion icon for so long, Donatella Versace’s departure from her label and this collaboration has left many wondering whether it’s the end of an era for lone designers.

“There does seem to be a shift happening, fashion is becoming more collaborative – more strategic,” says Spann.

“With consolidation, we’re seeing a move toward powerful creative alliances rather than the singular voice of the socalled ‘genius’ designer.

“While there’s something undeniably romantic about the lone visionary, today’s landscape demands both creativity and business acumen,” she says, “I think we’re entering an era where vision is shared, not diluted.”

As for the future of Versace under Prada’s control, some are tentative to watch its transformation pan out, while others can’t wait to see what arises from this new industry power coupling.

Roper Rhodes extends its timeless Hampton Collection with two new finishes for 2025

Luxury bathroom specialists Roper Rhodes have updated their timeless Hampton Collection for 2025.

The traditional, Shaker-style range of vanity units, sanitaryware and bathroom accessories is now available in two new colourways: Matt Sage Green and Matt Black.

And while the colour options may have extended, the same enduring appeal remains.

Zoe Jones, Interior Designer for Roper Rhodes, said: “There is nothing new about the Hampton Collection, and that’s precisely its charm.

“It’s a collection that offers an homage to Shaker-style design and has been carefully crafted to transcend passing trends.

“But as homeowners get bolder in their approach to interior design, we wanted to add more options to help them express their personality while still remaining true to Hampton’s timeless style.”

With its subtle moulding and tongue-andgroove detailing, Hampton has been designed for flexibility. The collection offers endless customisation options with a wide choice of hardware combinations and co-ordinating pieces.

Zoe added: “Hampton is all about bringing a real sense of home to any bathroom.”

Vanity units are available in six versatile sizes. Along with the new Matt Black and Matt Sage

Green colourways, the Hampton Collection is available in six further finishes: Matt Chalk White, Matt Mocha, Matt Agave, Matt Derwent Blue, Matt Pewter and Matt Slate Grey. Basins, WCs, bath panels and toilet seats complete the collection.

The Hampton Collection is available now from Roper Rhodes, with prices starting at £468 for a basin unit.

Multi-functional furniture

Furniture is working as hard as ever to earn a spot in the home, and now as well as being beautiful to behold and delightful to use, clever, contemporary designs are evolving that have multiple high-tech functions that transform a room or smaller space into something completely different in mere moments.

It’s one step further than modularity, which can be created to be perfectly adapted to a space and remain adaptable for another set-up when you feel like having a change-over day, but what we’re seeing now is modern multi-use furniture that hides in plain sight, converting in 3-2-1 into something new and unexpected.

Our innovative, space-saving transformable

“Transform

a room or smaller space into something completely different”

“Our innovative, space-saving transformable furniture systems seamlessly spread spatial efficiency across living, working and sleeping”

furniture systems seamlessly spread spatial efficiency across living, working and sleeping areas without compromising on the all-important aesthetics. Each design is minimalist and under the radar, from fold-into-the-wall Murphy beds to sofas that morph into bunk beds to desks that convert into dining tables, home offices hidden in storage units and room dividers that appear as if from nowhere.

Non-specialist designer furniture brands have also answered the call, with a bevy of furniture that isn’t quite what it seems emerging. Take De Sede’s DS-266 Yoga Lounge Chair. Think it’s simply a lounge-y armchair? Then try playing with the backrest, and arrange it into multiple positions that span almost supine to sitting straight and supported. Is that a piece of minimalist wall art? Nope, it’s Ligne Roset’s Nubo Desk which hangs fully disguised before revealing itself as a practical workplace. Lighting traditionally has one task.

Furniture is no longer just about form and function – it’s about transformation. With hightech adaptability and hidden versatility, today’s designs seamlessly shift to meet the ever-changing needs of modern living, looking completely unassuming as they do so, meaning spaces can truly have dual roles. chaplins.co.uk

The return of Millenial PINK

Nostalgia is the main ingredient in millennial pink’s revival as it takes over our homes once again.

“Over the past decade, pink trends have never really left. We welcomed the 2020s with the Barbiecore trend, which saw hot pink take centre stage with its bold, unapologetic hue. As we’re now midway into 2025, we’re seeing the reemergence of Millennial Pink. This dusty rose pink hue, popular in the mid-2010s takes us back to the early days of Instagram and when the term ‘Girlboss’ was coined. Its popularity was sealed when ‘Rose Quartz’ was crowned the Pantone Colour of 2016 alongside Serenity (a calming light blue).

It’s no surprise that many of us are yearning for simpler times and we’re looking to colour psychology for that antidote. Pink with all its promises of joy, light-hearted fun is commonly associated with peace, femininity and healing. Millennial pink continues to be influential thanks to social media. The popularity of the Wicked movie and TikTok trends like ‘soft girl era’, ‘clean girl aesthetic’ and ‘demure’ have brought millennial pink back into the spotlight. Its dusty, muted shade makes it easy to pair with other colours like white, grey, beige, light blues, pastel greens and metallics like gold and brass.

In the interior world, millennial pink has made a splash once again with an eye-catching installation of a pink jungle daybed called Le Refuge by designer Marc Ange at Milan Design Week. Millennial pink has also been the go-to pick for many Scandinavian furniture brands, highlighting its clean, contemporary (yet inviting) appeal.

Even though pink has feminine connotations, its evolution (and trendiness) has made it a ‘new neutral’. Introducing it as a sofa colour makes your living room feel fresh, chic and sophisticated. It goes effortlessly with white walls or darker colours

like grey or black accents, making your living room feel edgier.

When it comes to decorating with millennial pink, texture matters. Velvet or plush fabric upholstery will elevate the look, making the room more luxurious giving the room that soft and inviting feel. Layering pink on pink for accessories creates a stylish monochrome look with cushions or artwork on the walls. You can introduce darker pink accents through glass accessories and lighter pink touches with artwork. This will add more depth to the room, giving more variety and texture. If you want to keep it simple, perk up your room with fresh flowers (in pink of course) to add a cheerful touch.

Will millennial pink still be trending this time next year? We may not know the answer, but it can’t be denied that it has staying power, that’s for sure.”

Designed to captivate, this latest addition to our beloved Love Story Collection is handcrafted from satin-varnished solid oak and natural rattan. Resin Bound: The Smart Choice for LongLasting, Sustainable Driveways

Since 2004, Oltco has been transforming outdoor spaces with high-quality resin bound surfaces. This innovative solution has become a top choice for homeowners and businesses, offering a seamless, durable, and stylish alternative to traditional driveways, patios, and pathways.

and harsh weather conditions without cracking or fading. The smooth, non-slip finish also enhances safety, making it a practical choice for driveways, pathways, and even large-scale commercial projects. Available in a variety of colours and stone blends, resin bound can be customised to complement any property’s aesthetic.

In 2019, Oltco introduced Recycle Bound, a pioneering solution that incorporates recycled plastic waste into resin bound surfaces. This innovative product has helped recycle the equivalent of over 800 million plastic straws, offering an eco-friendly option without compromising strength or durability. Each square metre of Recycle Bound contains the equivalent of 3,000 plastic straws, turning waste into a valuable resource.

One of the key benefits of resin bound surfaces is their permeability. Unlike concrete or block paving, resin bound allows water to drain naturally, helping to prevent puddles and reducing flood risks. This makes it a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) compliant option, ideal for both residential and commercial properties. Additionally, resin bound surfaces require minimal maintenance—there are no loose stones, weeds struggle to grow, and the surface remains in excellent condition for years with just occasional cleaning.

Durability is another major advantage. Resin bound surfaces are built to withstand heavy use

While Recycle Bound is popular for residential properties, it has also been installed in high-profile commercial spaces, including hotels and attractions. With plastic pollution continuing to be a global challenge, Oltco’s Recycle Bound provides a practical and sustainable solution. Oltco stands by its commitment to quality with an industry-leading guarantee of up to 20 years. Whether you choose traditional resin bound or the eco-friendly Recycle Bound, you’re investing in a driveway that is built to last.

GARDEN DESIGN & PLANTING SPECIALISTS

Laurel Hill Gardens is an award-winning garden design studio based in the Surrey Hills, offering consultation, design services, and advice on all styles of gardens.

Paula Holland Founder of Laurel Hill Gardens trained at Merrist Wood, gaining her certification with distinction. She was soon designing a large Sensory Garden at Hampton Court for the RNIB. Two thousand plants, a heatwave and a very slow tap for watering! However, great teamwork and an amazing experience culminated in winning the People’s Choice Award. Paula still regularly works with the landscapers that helped build the garden. Roll forward seven years and she has designed and built gardens of all shapes and sizes – from tiny urban roof terraces to large country gardens and everything in between. She works with several skilled craftsmen to build bespoke oak pergolas and features. Installing sustainable irrigation systems and lighting systems, both of which are often overlooked, to make a garden which is both

manageable and give a wow factor even at night.

Paula says “People often ask me why they should choose Laurel Hill Gardens rather than someone else, and whilst I could wax lyrical on that subject, the truth is that I am plant obsessed! I have spent years studying the subject at the Plant School, so much so I ended up teaching about Plants.

One common misconception is that Garden Design is always about starting from scratch, when half of my work is as much about renovating from an existing framework.

You can completely transform a garden from enhancing the planting and a fresh pair of eyes with a wide base of experience goes a long way. The good news with that, is that the planting always transforms a space rather than having to re-build existing hard landscaping, and is often less expensive than people expect.”

If you would like to talk gardens big or small Paula would love to hear from you 0771 408 8153. @laurelhillgardens laurelhillgardens.co.uk
