Take the tour and see Buckingham from an artist’s perspective. It’s like a treasure hunt but you’re looking for the treasure that inspired the art. In 2018 artist Cathy Read created a series of 50 paintings inspired by Buckingham and the surrounding area.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the incredibly rare Roman stone heads uncovered during HS2’s archaeological excavation of St Mary’s Church in Stoke Mandeville. Two of the heads, from the three busts found, will go on display in our new Discover Bucks Galleries and will remain on loan to the museum until the end of October 2022. They were discovered in the final stages of investigations by archaeologists from L-P Archaeology, working for HS2’s Enabling Works Contractor, Fusion JV, in October last year.

hatever the reason for your separation, it is likely to be a difficult period emotionally for you and your partner. This is why it’s vital to take time for yourself, and give time to your ex to come to terms with the breakdown, before making decisions, which will have a long term effect upon you and your children.

It is not uncommon in the early days of a breakdown for one or both parents to feel worried that they might lose their place in their children’s lives. This is why it is good to remember that agreeing child arrangements isn’t about you, it’s about your children; and that how you behave around your children and the example you set, will

If you’re finding it hard to communicate, family therapists can facilitate discussions and help you to see issues from each other’s perspective, which in turn should enable an agreement to be reached.

“It is not uncommon in the early days of a breakdown for one or both parents to feel worried that they might lose their place in their children’s lives”

Essentially your children should always come first.

40 SEPTEMBER 2022

These well-known words are from ‘This be the verse’ by the poet, Philip Larkin, and should be at the forefront of your mind to help prevent involving your children in any dispute with your former partner upon the breakdown of your relationship, says Sue Andrews, family partner, B P Collins. determine your long-term relationship with them.

W

Resolving child arrangements through the courts should always be a last resort. A judge, and even the court welfare officer, who will have interviewed you, do not know you or your children about whom they are being asked to make a decision, and so can be no substitute to you and your former partner reaching your own decisions, thinking at all times about your children, and their vulnerabilities and needs.

Whatever your feelings about your former partner, in almost every circumstance - except where there are genuine safety concerns - children thrive and are better adjusted if they have an ongoing relationship with both parents and are unaware of any conflict.

Being able to decide together about the time your children spend with each of you - perhaps even spending time collectively on special occasions, and being positive about that time, is probably the single most important gift a parent can give a child, no matter how old they are, in these circumstances.

What is Forfeiture?

Forfeiture is the process by which a landlord terminates/‘determines’ the lease and brings to an end the landlord and tenant relationship as a result of a breach of covenant. In order to exercise a forfeiture clause, a clause allowing for this will have to be expressly drafted into a Inlease.exercising a forfeiture clause, “peaceable re-entry” is sometimes exercised by a Landlord by simply changing the locks of a commercial property thereby denying the tenant access to it. If your commercial lease has been forfeited and you are unsure what next steps to take, you should seek legal advice as soon as possible. Depending on what outcome you are seeking i.e., whether or not you wish to continue your landlord and tenant relationship, the steps you will need to take will vary. Forfeiture for non-payment of rent Depending on the reason for forfeiture, your landlord may be required to serve a section 146 notice before exercising peaceable re-entry and changing the locks, which gives the tenant a reasonable time to remedy the breach. However, this pre-requisite is dispensed with where the reason for forfeiture is for non-payment of rent. Where your landlord has forfeited your lease for non-payment of rent, they can exercise forfeiture either by peaceable re-entry and changing the locks to the premises or alternatively, by commencing court proceedings. In the event that your lease has been forfeited by peaceable reentry, you should seek legal advice as soon as possible to understand the consequences of the forfeiture and what your options are going forward.

My Lease Has Been Forfeited Due To Rent –

Arrears

What Should I Do?

If your lease has been forfeited on the grounds of nonpayment of rent and you want to re-enter the lease and/or attempt to continue your landlord and tenant relationship, you should instruct a solicitor to advise you on making an application for relief against forfeiture. It is important to be aware that once a lease has been forfeited, the parties cannot simply agree to reinstate the lease as if it had not been forfeited. Only the court has the power to grant relief from forfeiture. You should be aware that relief against forfeiture is a discretionary remedy which means that it is not automatically granted. It is therefore noteworthy that although relief is granted in most circumstances, it is decided by the court on a case-by-case basis depending on the particular facts of your case. In order to succeed in your application, you will need to demonstrate to the court either a) you have re-paid the rent arrears as well as the landlord’s associated reasonable costs or, b) you have attempted to make the rent arrears payments which has been refused by the landlord and that you are currently in a position to satisfy the arrears.

If relief is granted, the court will essentially ‘resurrect’ your lease as if it were never terminated in the first place. Depending on how your lease has been forfeited, there may be a 6 month limitation period to make your application and therefore you should seek legal advice as soon as possible.

What should I do next?

If your lease has been forfeited and you are looking for legal advice, please do not hesitate to contact Sangita Manek on am@blasermills.co.uk or call on 01494 770980.

respecting their fellow students, instructor and others.Early lessons include the basics of karate. Everything begins and ends with a bow. From the moment you enter the Dojo students bow to Shihan and upon leaving the Dojo again bow as a sign of respect. You are taught how to correctly and safely form a fist, your first basic punches, correct stances, basic blocks and kicks. TISKA have also produced a free Beginners app available to download to support all beginners in a step by step format from complete beginner through to their first Blue belt grading.

arate is the ultimate in self-defence promoting fitness, self-awareness, confidence, etiquette, respect and self-discipline. Students at TISKA start from the age of 4 years old and up. It is a very family based club and many families train together. Recently TISKA proudly announced their youngest Black belt – who has trained consistently with his family and attained his Black belt at the age of just 8. Karate for children can help with bullying issues, exam stress and the building of self-esteem. It teaches children etiquette, respect and politeness to fellow students and their instructor. It can also help develop their concentration and focus. Many parents noticed a marked improvement of concentration in their children once karate training has commenced. Karate for adults can help with general fitness and wellbeing and, with regular training, strength and flexibility will improve. For both children and adults alike, belonging to an association such as TISKA, offers many fun moments and opens up new social avenues for all of our students encouraging many new friendships. Students are taught from the outset that Shotokan karate is primarily a defensive not offensive martial art meaning students learn how to be polite,

Marlow’s new bridal boutique pairs contemporary with classic for something truly special Founder Natalie Cameron was inspired to launch Your Story by her own experience of visiting bridal boutiques – as a bride herself and with her sister. With a background in marketing and time spent in the industry at Brides magazine, finding the perfect space in Liston Court was the final piece of the puzzle, and Your story opened its doors in August. With its clean, modern décor and relaxed, friendly feel, Your Story is already building a community of satisfied customers. Natalie recognises that finding the dress that feels and looks just right is something brides will remember for the rest of their life, and loves being part of such a huge milestone for her guests. She says: “It makes me so happy that the memories brides make at Your Story will be a special part of their individual wedding journey – and that they’ll cherish them forever. Big bags are back in a big way, which is handy if you’re returning to the office and need a roomy tote to ferry your laptop/lunchbox/gym kit/all of the above to and from work. Take your cue from Gucci, Dior and Gabriela Hearst with a super-size top handle tote, or grab a squishy leather holdall to cradle under your arm like the models on the Fendi and Sportmax runways.

“The utility trend is still in full force, with puffed-up cross-body and belt bags in neutral hues”

While some winter wardrobe staples can (and should) be worn year after year, if you’re looking for one key piece to update your style for the new season, you can’t go wrong with a handbag.

These are the catwalk-inspired bags to be seen with this season, says Katie Wright.

Chain-strap handbags are a timeless classic, of course, but this season the links are decorative rather than practical – from shiny and gold at Valentino and Stella McCartne y, to plastic and chunky at Longchamp and Acne. A metallic chain adds edge to a utility-style bag, giving it added dayto-night potential.

QUILTED BAGS You’ve got two choices when it comes to quilted bags for autumn. The utility trend is still in full force, with puffed-up cross-body and belt bags in neutral hues. Inspired by the Chanel and Burberry collections, classic leather handbags with chain straps, that can be worn long or short, are an elegant choice for day or evening.

CROSS BODY BAGS

There was an explosion of all things fluffy on the catwalks, from DSquared2’s shearling hobo bag, to Burberry’s huge, fuzzy tote and JW Anderson’s bright, tasselled creations. A cream faux fur or shearling shoulder bag is the ideal match for a classic camel coat.

At Home Remedies for Pelvic Weakness

A weak pelvic floor is more often associated with:

HEALTHFLOORPELVIC floor, it is a good idea to seek out some professional help before undertaking any regular exercises. Just as you might hire a personal trainer at the gym to show you how to use the equipment you might see a pelvic floor physiotherapist to learn how to exercise your pelvic floor in the right way. Once you know what you are doing then pelvic floor exercises can be done anywhere and at any time. There is really no excuse for not doing your bit to keep your pelvic floor in shape.

While at home exercise are easy and free, I do see patients who have ‘lost touch’ with their pelvic floors, meaning they have forgotten how to engage the muscles, or the muscles have become so weak that the muscles hardly respond. In these situations, I recommend my patients a course of Emsella.Emsella uses electromagnetic energy to induce thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions in each session. The treatment itself is very easy and is done by sitting fully clothed in a chair. The electromagnetic stimulation works in a similar way to the how the brain sends signals to your muscles thereby creating a normal but spontaneous contraction. Importantly, these contractions happen at a very faster rate. By inducing such a high number of contractions, the Emsella will help to quickly rebuild muscle strength. The treatment alleviates the symptoms of incontinence for many of my patients within just a few weeks of starting the treatment.

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a common condition where you are unable to correctly relax and coordinate the muscles in your pelvic floor. A weak or dysfunctional pelvic floor may cause you to have trouble with controlling wind, bowel movements, or as is most common cause urinary incontinence. If you’re a woman, pelvic floor issues may cause you to feel pain during sex, or reduced sensation, while men may have trouble gaining or keeping an erection.

our pelvic floor muscles support your bladder, bowel, rectum, and uterus by wrapping around your pelvic bone.

Head pharmacist at Pyramid Pharmacy, Ayesha “The whole team is so excited about the move. The new pharmacy is amazing, something the whole community will benefit from”

The beginning July marked the end of an era as Pyramid Pharmacy in London End closed its doors for the very last time. The much loved pharmacy has relocated and flung open its doors to a brand new, purpose built pharmacy at its new site. The well established pharmacy has relocated one of its branches to the new Medical Centre site on Walkwood Rise, Beaconsfield.

The exciting move comes as The Simpson Centre and Millbarn Medical Centre combine in one building to create The Beaconsfield Medical Centre,  a state-ofthe-art medical centre that houses both GP practices that continue to run separately. The move is centred on serving the wider community, improving patient access and providing an invaluable service to the community the pharmacy has relocated to allow people to obtain medications quickly and easily.

The pharmacy will continue to offers a host of services including a delivery service for housebound patients, health advice, medication recycling as well as travel and flu vaccines.

Vaccine. This new site allows us to further improve and create a collaborative working relationship with the GP practices for the benefit of our patients. Not all patients were happy about the proposed move as the site moved out of London End however staff members outlined that parking, congestion and access was becoming more of an issue for patients. The new pharmacy was designed to offer a significantly more accessible site for patients with accessible access as well as a 110 space car park with 9 electric vehicle charging ports for staff and patients. It is also designed to help cater for the forecast increase in the town’s population arising from the new housing developments in and around Beaconsfield. It is also easy to access via public transport links with local buses and pedestrian walkway. Oneresident of Walkwood Rise said ‘This was a tough process to live through as the Medical Centre has been built. Not all of us were happy when this was announced however since this has opened it has been so useful. My children have been struggling through the heatwave and with hay fever and it has been amazing having all of this on my doorstep. The pharmacy has been so useful and the staff here have been so friendly. I am definitely seeing the benefits’.

“We know the past few years have been difficult and we feel that our pharmacists have really stepped up during this time to offer an invaluable NHS service”

Tip 1 - Start today and start small! Set yourself a goal that is just challenging enough but you know you are able to achieve. E.g. drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day. This drives motivation and bigger goal setting.

For many of us, with the indulgence of summer behind us, kids returning to school and leaves falling from the trees, September is a time of change and transition. Kate Kirrane from Seed Wellness tells us more.

Tip 2 - Do things that make you feel good. Be with people who make you feel good. Eat and drink things that make your body feel good. Go at a pace that makes you feel good.

Said Rapid Transformational Therapist (RTT), Sue Solomou, “The wonderful benefit of RTT is that it is rapidly changes how we think.”

September also provides an opportunity to focus once again on our own self-care, shift unhelpful and unhealthy habits and make positive change. Whatever your goals might be, we asked our health experts at Seed Wellness for their top tips: Said Health Coach, Izzy Walton, “Now is a great time to focus on yourself using a 360 approach to health.”

Tip 3 – Before you sleep, make a list of 3 things you are grateful for… Expressing gratitude is a really powerful tool to shift into positive thinking.

If you are seeking support to achieve your goals, email Info@seedwellness.co.uk or visit www.seedwellness.co.uk

Tip 3 - Get outside daily. September is a great month for observing the change in nature around us. Mindful walks help lower stress and release feel good hormones.

Tip 1 - Understanding why we think the way we do is powerful: our thoughts are the only thing that we can control.  Tip 2 – Our thoughts control our feelings; our feelings control our actions; and our actions control our events.

SALONE STONES

If we’ve learned anything in the past few years, it’s that our homes are places for self-expression and experimentation as well as retreat and sanctuary, and the modern interior is both exciting and full of life as well as somewhere to escape and unwind in.

While Carrara and monochrome marbles will always have a place at the table, this year’s Salone del Mobile – Milan’s iconic furniture fair which shows us what the most modern of homes will be wearing – said one thing: we’re ready to ramp our rock up a notch.

The Salone presentations echoed these dual desires – materials were natural, sustainable and earth-friendly, channelling the organic as well as exaggerating and playing with it. Colours were based around nature but not afraid to go bright, combining pops of pigment and energy with the tactile and the organic.

In the almost 70 years since, Carrara and other white-based stones have held a grasp on the

NATURE’S ARTWORK

104 SEPTEMBER 2022 HOME & PROPERTY Say ‘marble’ and the likelihood is something white and grey comes to mind, something with delicate veining and a luxurious, chic appeal which hovers somewhere between the grandeur of ancient Rome and the backdrop to so many Instagram flatlay photos.

This is where statement stone enters the equation in unique, can-that-really-have-formed-naturally colours that tick both the eco and the exciting boxes. Hewn from earth yet simultaneously ornamental and with undeniable wow-factor, brightly coloured stone both makes an impact in the home as well as imbuing a space with a soothing sense of the outside. Be gone gentle, subtle shades – the rocks of 2022 are bold, vibrant and ready to shake things up.

That’ll be Carrara marble, a stone that has been locked into the contemporary design lover’s vocabulary since the elegantly veined rock fully entered our consciences in 1956 with the launch of Eero Saarinen’s iconic Tulip table for Knoll.

As well as fresh 2022 designs, much loved pieces are turning their backs on Carrara and the colourless and updating their recognisable silhouettes with rich new looks. Menu’s celebrated sculptural Androgyne Lounge Table by Danielle Siggerud is now available in in Calacatta Viola marble, a colourful cousin to classic Carrara, covered in alluring purple wandering lines and shapely chunks, and in honour of its 10th anniversary, the Tobi-Ishi table by Barber and Osgerby for B&B Italia was released in a special edition made from striped white Carrara and rich green Alpi marble, honouring classic Italian architecture.Contemporary rainbow-hued stone designs are conversation pieces. Such exquisite, unbelievable colours, patterns and finishes are made to be showcased, gathered around and delighted over – modern day reminders that there’s still much hidden treasure to be discovered here on Earth.

‘Travertine has a completely different materiality and structure to marble and even in the same colours, can express many different tones and variations,’ explains Jacob Gubi Olsen, Owner and Creative Director of Gubi. ‘We are always curious about new expressions and materials.’

OLD FAVOURITES

an entrancing purple tinted-rose hued rock, and Tangerine Onyx, which is decorated with lava-like orange streaks, both adding a sense of adventure and exhilaration into the home, each tabletop a slice of the exotic.Giorgetti’s Griffe low table by Giancarlo Bosio & Giorgetti R&D is crowned with a piece of Labradorite Lemurian granite, an iridescent stone found in Madagascar which feels more like a piece of jewellery than something for the living room. Porada’s boldly asymmetric new Berry table is defined by a slab of verdant Lapponia green marble, its top like a solidified slice of plant life found in the forest, while Bonaldo’s Asia vanity is topped by a shapely slice of rich red Rosso Carpazi marble, mirroring the blush and lipstick it’s waiting to hold.

SEPTEMBER 2022 99

SEPTEMBER 2022 105 also step away from marble itself and open our minds to the allure of other stones. Contemporary designers are prioritising beauty and impact over the material’s geological classification and embracing rocks of any name, from onyx to granite, quartz, travertine and beyond.
