Benu Formidable Celebrating life
For us, creating the BENU FORMIDABLE collection meant trusting intuition, embracing imperfection and letting creativity flow. With our knowledge of textile craftsmanship, we set out to design fabrics that felt alive, that moved with light and space, that told a story of joy, energy and optimism.
In line with our identity, we chose sustainable and recycled materials, convinced that beauty and social responsibility must go hand in hand.
We played with colours: bold, unexpected, full of positive energy. We explored organic and free forms, to capture and transfer a feeling: the pure pleasure of artistic expression.
That is why each curtain fabric in the collection is named after a dance. Like movement, these fabrics are expressive, vibrant and full of life. There is room for bold, structured patterns borrowed from nature, but also for naive designs.
With BENU FORMIDABLE, Fischbacher 1819 invites you to rediscover the joy of spontaneous, personal design full of possibilities.

BENU Recycled fabrics
For us, celebrating the splendour of nature also means protecting it through sustainable design and manufacturing processes that conserve our planet’s scarce resources. Every year, we try to add as many fabrics as possible to our BENU Recycled range. “Benu” is the ancient Egyptian name for the phoenix, a beautiful bird who rises from the ashes. It happens to sound like “be new!” as well, which we thought made it the perfect name for our recycling range. While we have been developing recycled furnishing fabrics since 2009, even we are amazed at the beauty of the qualities that are possible today in this sustainable material.

BIENNALE 2024 - ESTONIA PAVILLON
The playful, free-form design combines graphic and abstract elements. It incorporates all the technical possibilities of hand tufting. A variety of structures, haptics and colours combined with the utmost skill stimulates the senses. ARTWORKS

The expressive FREESTYLE One-Ply design is hand-tufted in the NZ WOOL ONE-Ply wool quality.
ALCOVA VASES - MILAN DESIGN WEEK
ARTWORK
BLOOM Wallpaper is reminiscent of lush gardens bathed in pink light at sunrise. The cheerful colours of the colourful blossoms arranged in the vases on a pink background spread an optimistic mood and good humour. BLOOM was painted with gouache colours in our in-house studio. Celebrating naive art, larger-than-life, lush vases and blossoms were depicted with spontaneous brushstrokes.
BLOOM is inspired by the 2024 Venice Art Biennale, which put the spotlight on textile and naïve art and offered a visual and tactile contrast to the digital world. On display was a fusion of embroideries, collages, appliqués, textile objects and installations, united by an artistic and expressive language that is simple.
The bright colours of fresh fruits are simply FORMIDABLE!
BENU QUICK STEP is a decorative cushion which comes in 2 colours. The design is embroidered on our popular recycled wool fabric BENU Remix.
COPENHAGEN is a throw made from 100% natural fibres. It was developed with a 100% linen yarn in the warp and a long-fibre extrafine worsted merino wool yarn in the weft. This quality can only be produced in very few spinning mills and is normally used for luxury fashion brands’ clothing.
