SEAQUAL Initiative The SEAQUAL® YARN is made chiefly from upcycled marine plastic.

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE works with ocean clean-up programs to remove marine litter.

This means that Christian Fischbacher is actively supporting the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, which works with local fishermen, NGOs and volunteers to remove marine waste from our oceans. A significant proportion of the SEAQUAL® YARN is made from upcycled marine plastic – waste which is transformed into a high-quality polyester yarn using a resource-efficient process. The remainder is made from recycled PET bottles. The SEAQUAL® YARN is easy-care, crease-resistant and hard-wearing, making it a highly versatile and sustainable alternative to virgin polyester.

Marine litter is sorted into different material types by SEAQUAL INITIATIVE partners.

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is not a product: SEAQUAL INITIATIVE enables the upcycling of plastic marine litter.

SEAQUAL® YARN contains Upcycled Marine Plastic (from plastic marine litter) and post-consumer PET from land sources.

SEAQUAL® YARN is almost identical in physical properties to virgin polyester Our producers produce high quality textiles from SEAQUAL® YARN. Our assortment currently consists of

Ocean clean-ups can be anything from small groups of local volunteers, all the way through to large international programs. They can be one-off beach clean-ups or involve whole communities of fishermen retrieving waste on a regular basis.

At SEAQUAL INITIATIVE we don’t look for materials to recycle, we recycle the materials we find.

Marine plastics are harder to recycle.

Although plastics can survive in the ocean for hundreds of years, UV rays, salt water and friction mean they can degrade quickly. SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is dedicated to giving a new life to all types of marine plastic.

BENU NET 14645 This extravagant warp-knit fabric is crafted using innovative SEAQUALÂŽ YARN, which is made entirely from Upcycled Marine Plastic.

Two different colours are twisted together to create each strand of yarn, resulting in a fabric with a dynamic, melange appearance.

BENU SOUL 14646 This leno weave is both delicate and sophisticated. Combining jutelike Seaqual yarns with silver lurex, it looks both opulent and natural. The fine, open warp gives the floor-toceiling curtain a soft drape.

BENU GARDEN 14647 BENU GARDEN combines the delicate leno weave with a largescale botanical flock print. The highlights of the lurex in the base cloth form a stunning contrast with the matt flock, which is made from Upcycled Marine Plastic. In this original pattern, a negative design is used to create the overlapping leaf shapes.
