Trimble Hawke 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Creek Valley, California
Vintage Dry Creek Valley’s 2022 vintage is characterized by quality over quantity and stands as one of the region’s driest seasons in recent history. Spring frosts and autumn heat waves reduced yields across the valley. These events, combined with dry weather and quick-draining Manzanita soils, meant vines directed all their energy to a small number of grape clusters. Though it was a modest harvest, this extra attention led to an exceptional payoff—a wine with outstanding flavor concentration and complexity.
Region Dry Creek Valley is well-known for its bold, Bordeaux-style red wines. This small sub-region of Sonoma County has everything a sun-loving grape like Cabernet Sauvignon could ask for. Long summers, gravelly soils and warm weather emphasize the grape’s decadent, ripe fruit character and robust tannins. Cool coastal breezes and fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean maintain its naturally high acidity and aromatic qualities, creating complex expressions that can evolve for decades in the bottle.
Tasting notes Our Cabernet Sauvignon offers a captivating aromatic bouquet as black cherry and blackberry notes mingle with rosemary and thyme. There is an enticing earthy undertone beneath the fruit that will become more pronounced with age. The palate is rich and smooth, unfolding with deep, dark fruit notes, joined by chocolate and coffee from oak aging. This Cabernet’s complexity and robust tannic structure promise its lasting elegance as it evolves beautifully in your cellar for years to come.

Winemaking Our Cabernet comes from sustainable vineyards, and this respect for one’s surroundings continues in the winery. Each winemaking decision is guided by the intent to honor the grape’s varietal character and highlight a beloved regional style. After harvest and sorting, fermentation lasts eight days in stainless steel tanks at warm temperatures to extract flavor and texture before oak shapes the final profile of a classic Dry Creek Cabernet.
Spotlight Cellar • Fermentation in stainless steel preserves freshness and does not impart flavor. • Fermenting red wine at warm temperatures extracts color, tannin and flavor from the grape skins.
Vineyard • Well-drained soils make vines form deep roots, increasing drought resistance
• Low yields increase grape’s flavor concentration and complexity.
