Jaipur: Unseasonal rains and hailstorms have caused a lot of damage to crops in 18 districts. Cumin, Isabgol, Mustard, Wheat, Barley, Gram, Taramira and Horticulture crops got damaged. A report by the agriculture department has assessed damage to crops until March 9 in districts.

Seven main crops and horticulture have been damaged in the last one week in Rajasthan. Wheat was sown in 29.65 lakh hectare. About 51,000 hectare of the crop has been damaged leading to 2-20 percent damage.

Barley was sown in 4.08 lakh hectare in the state but 15 percent of crops have been damaged. The total sowing area of gram was 20.57 lakh hectare. According to the department, the estimated damage is a loss of 5-15 percent.

Besides, mustard was sown in 38.98 lakh hectare but 2-20 percent was damaged. There is a possibility of loss of 5-40 percent of cumin crop. Up to 10.70 percent of Isabgol got damaged.

The JDA team acted in gram Chawand Ka Mand, Luniyawas, Jaisinghpura Khor, Kalingarh, and other nearby areas where illegal colonies were being developed in ecological zones.

ST-24 sighted in Jamwaramgarh

Jaipur: The movement of tiger ST-24 has been noticed in Kundal of Jamwaramgarh area. The tiger was seen in a camera trap in Kundal on Saturday. The tiger often remains from Sahu hill to Jali hill. Teams from Jamwaramgarh, Raiser, Achrol, and Sariska do regular monitoring of ST-24.

The tiger was not visible in the camera trap for about 10 days, in such a situation, the for- est officials were concerned. The tiger reached Kundal via Oberoi Farm on Friday.

Crops got damaged in Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Jalore, Pali, Sirohi, Jodhpur, Barmer, Kota, Baran, Bundi, Jhalawar, Udaipur, Banswara.

“A scheme named Jagdamda Vihar (First) was being developed on eight bighas of land in gram Chawand Ka Mand. Illegal constructions were razed at five different locations. The land was falling under the ecological areas and boundary walls were razed without the approval of the JDA,” said a JDA official.
