Delegate Booklet
2-3 August 2023
On behalf of The Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA), I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you to this the highly anticipated 2023 CAA Congress. It is an honour to have you join us for this prestigious event, which promises to be a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.
The CAA Congress has been running in various formats since 2009, and has consistently served as a platform for thought leaders, experts, professionals and vendor partners in the ambulance and emergency services sector to convene, collaborate, and shape the future of our industry. As the preeminent forum for leaders in the Australasian ambulance sector, this congress is a testament to our collective dedication to improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of emergency care.
This year’s congress, themed “Inspire, Innovate Elevate,” offers all of you an exceptional program that will explore advancements, best practices, and innovative strategies in emergency medical services. Throughout the congress, you will have the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions, participate in interactive workshops, and gain valuable insights from renowned speakers who are at the forefront of emergency healthcare.
There will also be exhibitor demonstrations, poster sessions and a range of master classes for you to attend and enjoy.
Congress 2023 also provides an exceptional networking platform for all of you to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and forge meaningful collaborations from Australasia and beyond. We encourage you to take full advantage of the various networking events, social gatherings, and exhibition opportunities available to you during the congress. We firmly believe that the congress will foster a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and inspire fruitful partnerships that will continue to advance our shared mission.
And finally, I hope you are as excited as I am about the annual CAA Awards for Excellence, to be held on Wednesday 2 August at the Howard Smith Wharves. The Awards showcase the best of the best from amongst our members across a range of categories, recognising all contributions made to creating and growing a truly worldclass ambulance service.
On behalf of the CAA, I would like to express our thanks for your joining us at this significant event. Your participation and contributions are invaluable as we work collectively towards enhancing the delivery of emergency medical services worldwide. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those in need during critical moments.
Once again, I extend a warm welcome, haere mai to you all. Let us seize this opportunity to share our knowledge, inspire one another, and leave a lasting legacy of progress in emergency care.
David Waters Chief Executive Council of Ambulance AuthoritiesThe Council of Ambulance Authorities represents a unified voice for the ambulance sector working to respond to changing community needs by coordinating the collaboration of the eleven statutory ambulance services in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea on issues of metropolitan, regional, national and international significance.
The CAA was established in 1962 to provide ambulance service leaders with a networking opportunity to discuss issues, learning, and achievements current to the sector. This tradition continues today through a number of committees, forums and networking groups that contribute to CAA’s focus on evidence-based initiatives and projects designed to keep ambulance services at the forefront of paramedicine.
The CAA represents the ambulance sector on relevant Australasian and international committees, partners with stakeholders and works with government to advocate for world-class outcomes.

On average, men apply for a job when they meet only 60% of the qualifications, but women apply only if they meet 100% of them.
We believe that the ambulance sector has a large pool of hidden talent - women currently in leadership roles or who aspire to be leaders but are unsure about how to take that next step in their careers.
The Women in Leadership Forum will provide attendees with practical skills, tools, perspectives and takeaway tips to help these women take the next step.
We invite you to meet and network with some of the Australasian ambulance sector’s most talented women in person at the 2023 CAA Women in Leadership Forum.
