RochesterHouse Fire
On June 21, 2021, Rochesterfirefighters were dispatched to Madison Street forthe report of a fire in a dwelling. On arrival, first-due crews found heavy smoke showing from a large two-story dwelling and went to work on an interiorattack. The rain and cold could not prevent the Town of Sand Lake from honoring the men and woman who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep ourcountry great. Memorial Day began with a parade of local fire departments from Averill Park, West Sand Lake, Taborton and Best Luther. Athens Installation and Awards Dinner


The Athens VolunteerFire Department held theirannual installation and awards dinnerrecently. Congratulations to Seth Dillworth, who received the Firefighterof the Yearaward, Don Winegard and Tim Albright who received 50-yearmemberawards and the Chiefs Merit Award; Zadock VanKuren who received a 50-yearmember award; and Aaron Koffman who was recognized as Most Improved Firefighter. West Athens Awards

The West Athens Lime Street Fire Company held theirannual awards banquet recently. Several members received awards for years of service, as well as Firefighterof the Year. John P. Farrell, Jr., and Micheal Ragaini were awarded fortheir50 years of service; Jason Borgen and Victoria Dichian for25 years; Anthony Stanzione and Kevin Murphy for20 years; Chris Hendricks for15 years; and Gerald Stanzione for10 years. DeerLeaves Scene of MVA 2 Injured in 2-CarMVA

At 2242 on June 14, 2021, Coeymans Hollow EMS and Fire, as well as Ravena Rescue, were dispatched to an MVAon Jarvis Road North at Bushendorf Road. Upon arrival, one vehicle was off the road in a ditch. Airbags were deployed but there were only minor injuries and no one was transported. The driverswerved to miss a deerthat ran off. - Fire News photo by Simon Lindmark On June 20, 2021, at around 1330, the New Salem Fire Department and Albany County medics were dispatched to Altamont and Tygert Roads foran MVA. Upon arrival, a Jeep was found off the road with heavy front-end damage and a sedan with heavy driverside damage. The Slingerlands Fire Department was also requested to the scene, as a female was trapped inside of the sedan.
