AT T E N D E E I N F O R M AT I O N We’re excited to share details for the 2027 Alabama Fire Service Professional Development Conference (also known as the “MidWinter Chiefs Conference”) hosted by the Alabama Fire College and the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association. This conference is designed to assist the chief officer with the ever-growing responsibilities of modern fire department management. Each year new topics are brought to the forefront through guest speakers and discussions to bring attendees up-to-date on current issues and technology

involving the fire service. The Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama will host more than 300 attendees for this two-day educational event and vendor expo. The vendor expo runs concurrently with the conference on February 1718, with dedicated interaction times scheduled each day. The conference attendance cost is $250, and you can quickly register online through the Dashboard. Your registration fee covers both days of the conference including breakfast, lunch, and break refreshments

ISO: PUBLIC PROTECTION CLASSIFICATIONS February 16, 2027 @ Finley Center NO COST www.alabamafirecollege.org/iso This free course taught by ISO/Verisk is intended for individuals to that would like to learn how to lower the Public Protections Classifications (PPC) score for their community. The course will teach the calculations necessary to be able to predict PPC based on many factors. The course will cover preparation for a field visit, what documentation is needed, and ways to earn full points. This class will be presented on Tuesday, February 16 from 9am to 3:30pm at the Finley Center in Hoover, AL. Registration for the ISO training is separate from conference registration.
THE PROACTIVE MINDSET WORKSHOP WITH BASSEL IBRAHIM February 16, 2027 @ The Michael Jordan Room at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex $50 (includes lunch) www.alabamafirecollege.org/proactivemindset The Proactive Mindset Workshop is an 8-hour interactive program led by Bassel Ibrahim that connects leadership, training, command, and fireground operations through a practical, performance-focused approach. Participants will explore handson leadership, stress response physiology, Mayday and survival considerations, proactive versus reactive Rapid Intervention Team operations, and the full RIT activation process from size-up and access through victim extraction and postextraction care. The course also examines how departments can build realistic training programs, establish clear expectations, and better prepare firefighters for high-risk, low-frequency events. Through case studies, national data, personal experiences, photos, videos, and discussion, attendees will gain practical strategies they can apply within their own organizations to improve operational readiness, training effectiveness, and fireground performance.
