RGSG ROYAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL GUILDFORD MUSCAT

This report documents the Conceptual Design process for the proposed Altamkeen International School. The site is located in Al Khoudh, a town in Muscat Governorate that is within Wilayat of Seeb in Northeastern Oman. According to the 2010 Census, Al-Seeb has a total population of 302,992 people. The town is linked to all roads as it is situated between Muscat Express highway and Sultan Qaboos Street.

+ Coordination with engineers, specifically structural engineers since I mainly worked on the structural part of the project.

This villa presents an avant-garde architectural vision, featuring a parametrically designed skin that gracefully wraps around the structure like a dynamic ribbon. The intricate parametric openings not only enhance its modern aesthetic but also exemplify the harmonious integration of form and function.

OVERVIEW
A WINDOW TO THE CITY

The facade concept is inspired by the Traditional “WINDOW”, a unique element of the Omani Architecture. We married the old shape with the modern ventilation and sunbreaking system to give the building a unique aesthetic and iconic image. Our goal is to allow the occupants to have their complete privacy while having a “WINDOW” to the city.

The Forest House 762 stands in a corner that meets the two principal streets that organize the gated community in which it is located. This V shaped house opens itself to its neighbors in order to take advantage of the sea views in every possible angle.

This project is envisioned as a meeting point for different cultural and leisure circuits, with the goal of using the same space for daytime and nocturnal activities in a sustainable fashion that impacts its surrounding. The idea was for it to become an intended destination for visitors, residents and tourists in all of Sultanate

The project proposes an “oasis” surrounded by a ring-shaped building. The later includes many functions, from hospitality to leisure, distributed in a luxurious way, overviewing the tropical landscape that enhances the feeling of “the sweet escape”.

A palimpsest can be viewed in two ways, first like an object that makes place for reuse; and second as an object that represents a medium for meaning and understanding of the past layers. Architecturally speaking, reusing a building consists in repurposing it by accommodating new functions or programs; and using it as an object that represents a medium for meaning implies using the building architectural qualities as a precedent and vehicle for a new intervention.
