We had the “meet the makers” at the welcome reception, and a pop-up market in the exhibition with local traders. “Business Events Tasmania proactively assisted the conference organisers from the start and were very helpful, especially with the selection of the conference venue. We felt very wellsupported and nothing was too much trouble. I recommend BET to anyone as a conference starting point. Over 12 months of planning went into this event and all service providers were very helpful and keen to see that the event was successful.”
“We were ferried through North-East Tasmania’s stunning scenery to Freycinet Lodge on the gorgeous Great Oyster Bay. The pristine environment and the way the Lodge has settled comfortably into the spectacular landscape over its life struck us. As a destination for eco-enthusiasts or a venue for a distraction-free corporate conference, Freycinet Lodge has few peers.”

Logistically we thought it may be difficult to manage, but in reality it was simple. We were guided and assisted by Business Events Tasmania all the way through the organisation of the conference, the detail was all provided, we simply had to make choices, and this is not the case elsewhere.” David Rounsevell, Managing Director, Expense Reduction Analysts

Mona has art and stuff but there’s also the food, wine, bars, restaurants, cellar door, accommodation, library, and a chapel to atone for your many and shocking sins. Also, if you’re planning on dropping off the perch any time soon, secure a place in our cemetery and enjoy eternal status as art aficionado extraordinaire. Mona was designed, by Fender Katsalidis Architects, to be explored — as a space of wonder and experiment. There are multiple spaces for you to hire, for groups of ten to 450 — around the building and

inside it. See mona.net.au for more information. Our premier spaces include the Void, featuring the original sandstone wall from Mona’s construction, complete with snazzy cocktail bar. There’s also the Nolan Gallery, home to Sidney Nolan’s modernist masterpiece, Snake, and a new ‘skyspace’ by the wondrous light artist James Turrell. Executive chef Vince Trim and his team of trusty sidekicks will cater to your needs — from finger food to multi-course meals to banquets. This is complemented by Moorilla wine and Moo Brew beer of course. For the living and the dead alike, Mona is a temple to secularism — and hedonism. Come worship with us.

DAY FOUR
The day begins exploring the beautiful Tamar River and Cataract Gorge aboard the Tamar Odyssey. You’ll see various wildlife sanctuaries, historic properties, notable vineyards, St. Matthias Church and of course the spectacular Cataract Gorge.
We journey north-east of Launceston to enjoy a game of golf. Barnbougle Dunes is a links golf course with breathtaking ocean views. The dramatic scenery and challenging 18-hole championship course is among the best links courses worldwide.
The group travels out of Launceston to the Tamar Valley, Tasmania’s oldest wine-growing area and a place where premium cool-climate wines, outstanding fresh produce and awardwinning restaurants go hand in hand. Here we enjoy a fabulous lunch at Rosevears Hotel.
After lunch, we head back to Launceston for a guided tour of James Boag’s Brewery. At the end of the tour, the group gets the chance to taste these exceptional beers, accompanied by superb Tasmanian cheese.
After a delicious breakkie, the group heads to Australia’s largest regional museum – the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. Here you can gaze into the cosmos at the planetarium, view the dinosaurs or bushranger artefacts or find out more about the Tasmanian Tiger.
For a unique way to experience Launceston and one of its best gourmet experiences, we jump on a bike and head down to the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market that’s held every Saturday. Here you will savour locally roasted coffee and taste your way around the foodie stalls before collecting a myriad of premium produce, coolclimate wines, artisan ciders and home-made preserves for the journey home.
Tonight we are booked at the award-winning restaurant, Stillwater, a renovated 1830s flour mill, with its casually elegant ambience and where the food and wine comes across as a genuine expression of the region.
Tonight, the group heads out to Cataract on Patterson, one of the most popular restaurants among locals for a relaxed evening.
Next, the group heads to Penny Royal Adventures for the afternoon, to experience the thrill of a cliff walk as you make your way across a dozen suspended rope bridges, followed by a rock climbing challenge. Tonight, we travel out of Launceston to the stunning restaurant at Josef Chromy Wines that overlooks a picturesque lake and vineyard. A truly unique location for you to experience superb Tasmanian wines and fine cuisine featuring fresh local produce.
Back on our bikes, we pedal to the Design Tasmania Centre located on the edge of City Park. The Centre features Tasmanian craft and design, from handmade homewares and jewellery to bespoke furniture. It’s the perfect place to pick up that special Tasmanian gift for someone special, before you head home.

We don’t lie in. We get up. We don’t back down. We rise up. When we get to work, we stand out and step up.
WE ARE THE
UPTIMISTS We’re unmistakable. Unmissable. People know when we rock up. We’ve always got a smile on. We’ve always got our heads up. We never fly solo. When we fly, we team up. It’s time for wheels up.

Australian Tourism Legend Robert Pennicott and his team of passionate local guides have been sharing Tasmania with travellers since 1999. Over its nineteen-year history, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys has won multiple awards including 12 Australian and 26 Tasmanian Tourism Awards.
Hobart’s lifestyle and rich maritime past. We visit Australia’s oldest lighthouse, the Iron Pot Lighthouse, and circumnavigate Betsey Island which is home to a variety of seabirds, including gulls, cormorants and the majestic white-bellied sea eagle. Tours depart daily from Hobart.
Today, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys operates five experiences in Southern Tasmania: Bruny Island Cruises, Tasman Island Cruises, Iron Pot Cruises, Tasmanian Seafood Seduction and Bruny Island Traveller.
Tasmanian Seafood Seduction is a full day tour cruising on Tasmania’s pristine waters, enjoying and gathering fresh seafood. Enjoy oysters and rock lobster, and see your guide dive for wild abalone and sea urchin. Be delighted as your catch is turned into a delicious seafood feast accompanied by gourmet local produce and Tasmanian wines, boutique beers, ciders and juices. Tours depart daily from Hobart.
Bruny Island Cruises and Tasman Island Cruises allow travellers to experience close encounters with wildlife and explore the spectacular national park coastlines of Bruny Island and the Tasman Peninsula aboard custom-built yellow boats. These coastlines are home to a variety of wildlife including hundreds of seals, migrating whales, playful dolphins and abundant sea birds in their thousands. The custom-built yellow boats feature covered open-air tiered seating meaning an excellent all-round view and connection with the environment. The boats are safe, comfortable and gentle on the environment. Tours depart daily from Hobart, Bruny Island and Port Arthur. Iron Pot Cruises is a 2.5-hour cruise exploring the renowned waterways that influence
BUSINESS EVENTS TASMANIA 2018-19 PLANNERS GUIDE
Bruny Island Traveller is a landbased gourmet food tour of Bruny Island departing from Hobart. This is a delicious day out where every course on the menu is a stop on your journey. You’ll meet local producers and savour freshly shucked oysters, award-winning cheeses, local honey, seasonal berries, premium wine, handmade fudge and world-class whisky. Tours depart daily from Hobart. Our journeys can be easily tailored to create a memorable experience for your next conference event. Whether it’s a small group of 10 delegates or a large group of 350 delegates, we have an experience to suit.
