MY WORK
I am a recent graduate from the University of Nottingham, completing my Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) in 2023.
During the past 3 years I have developed excellent design skills in the work-stage process, particularly with regards to the space arrangement and usability of a building, shown in my projects on the following pages.
YEAR 03
THESIS PROJECT 03
My Thesis Project was based in Hackney on the Kingsland Basin of Regents Canal, reusing an existing building, with the site functioning as a previous timber wharf. Inspired through my research of urban design and the area, along with the writers of Jane Jacobs and Anna Minton, the project aimed to address the privatisation of our cities and the ever commercialising world that I believed to be resulting in a lack of community.
The Kingsland Collective provides three different typologies for communal living, elevated above a wholly public ground floor that allows for functional community facilities, blurring the boundaries between public and private space. The building strives to make the city more accessible to all types of people and in turn creates a centre of activity and life, sensitive to its environment.

YEAR 03
PROJECT 02
Project Two explored the interaction of public and private space that helped develop my knowledge for my thesis. Here I focused on a single private dwelling, integrating communal living spaces for the older population. Through watching and interacting with others - a key concept in this design - creates a potentially simulating environment for the occupants.

YEAR 02
PROJECT 01
I selected the Design + Build unit in my second year to develop my practical skills involved in the construction and completion of a building. The project was based in Limpopo, South Africa to design and build a creche for the local community, supported through fundraising. I spent a term developing my ideas, working in collaboration to produce a final design, implemented through construction drawings. I then travelled to South Africa the following term to be involved in its build.
YEAR 02
PROJECT 04
For the remainder of my second year the unit focused on projects in South Africa, which required consideration of context and the challenge of designing for a very different environment to the UK.
The brief set out to design a study centre for our unit to visit for a longer period on location. I developed this further by extending it for multiple requirements so it can also be used by the local community. This presented the demands of designing a welcoming place, and at the same time one which provides a safe and secure environment, addressing the concept of public and private space.
