The present owners explain that they have always preferred living in period properties and were delighted to find The Nook, a late Victorian home that began life as two cottages. The location also offered a pleasing lifestyle in community minded Steeple Claydon, plus being in the catchment area of the excellent Royal Latin School, in Buckingham: whilst Aylesbury, Bicester and Milton Keynes are all within easy reach. The Nook allows you to experience the best of town and country living.
When the owners bought the house, it had been modernised and so they reinstated some of the charming original features, including reopening the feature fireplace in the dining room. They also removed the built in cupboards from a bedroom and created a desk and toy storage area for their son. For working from home, the office and gym in the garden has been a fantastic asset and is much used and appreciated.
The owners have used and enjoyed the space and light in the house. The generous lounge is ideal for family downtime, and with the flames from the wood burner flickering across the beams, there is a soothing and timeless atmosphere. The dining room is flooded with natural light and a sunny place for breakfast plus a convivial setting for more formal entertaining. The well equipped kitchen has pretty views to the garden, and the large utility area has plentiful storage, whilst the boot room and wet room, is where dogs can be washed after a muddy walk.
The private garden is a mix of seasonal planting, lawn, and an assortment of fruit trees. The gravelled area at the end of the garden is the perfect spot for al fresco dining or an evening glass of wine. It is a quiet and calming area where the front garden is a definite sun trap.
The Nook sits in the village, and you can walk to the Co-op and Post Office, community café and fish shop. Clubs and societies are centred on the village hall and the surrounding area is excellent walking and cycling country.
The owners say the Nook has given them a fantastic nine years. They have loved the house, having fields to walk in just two minutes from home and the convenience of the market town of Buckingham only six miles away. They are sad to leave but takeaway many very happy memories.”*
