The village of Castle Carrock nestles at the foot of Castle Carrock Fell on the B6413 linking from Brampton southwards along the western edge of the Eden Valley. There are many delightful walks to be had out of the village directly onto Castle Carrock Fell and Talkin Fell with the River Gelt flowing between offering access deep into Geltsdale and the Geltsdale RSPB Nature Reserve. On the doorstep are the Eden Valley, the Lake District National Park, the Solway Coastal region and of course the Scottish Borders and Hadrians Wall country. The market town of Brampton is a 4.5 miles to the north beyond Talkin Country Park and Brampton Golf Course. The Border city of Carlisle is 11 miles to the west offering good access to the M6 at J43 and access to the Northwest trainline getting you to London in around 3.5 hours. Newcastle Airport is easily reached within one hour via the A69.
