It’s a celebration of community, music, food, and culture, set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria’s waterfront. Racing at the Heart of the Festival The regatta is the beating heart of the festival. In 2026, the event will kick off with the Australian Multihull Championships on Wednesday, 21 January, before leading into the main weekend of competition. From historic passage races to the International Cadet Sprint Series for younger sailors, the program has something for every level of sailor. One of the festival’s highlights is the Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race, a historic event now in its 183rd edition.

www.findgeelong.com.au

Watching a fleet of yachts glide across the bay, sails snapping in the wind, is a sight that captivates sailors and spectators alike. Fun Beyond the Water But the Festival of Sails isn’t only about the boats. Once the yachts are docked, the waterfront comes alive. Live music fills the air, with stages ranging from the lively Regatta Village Stage to the relaxed Tipi by the Bay outdoor area. There’s something for every musical taste - from family-friendly acts by day to energetic bands at night. Foodies will find plenty to enjoy. Gourmet food trucks, pop-up bars, and local vendors line the waterfront, offering everything from quick bites to leisurely meals with a view. And for those who’ve ever dreamed of sailing, the festival’s “Come & Try Sailing” program lets visitors step aboard modern RS21 keelboats - no experience required. Families are especially well-catered for. Kids’ zones, roving performers, and handson activities ensure that young festivalgoers have as much fun as adults. And when the sun sets, fireworks over the bay light up the sky, bringing each day to a magical close. Community Spirit and Volunteers The Festival of Sails is powered by more than just wind and waves. Sponsors,

partners, and volunteers play a vital role in making the event happen. Local businesses and organisations provide support that keeps the festival thriving, while volunteers help manage everything from race operations to festival logistics. It’s a true community effort, and visitors often comment that the welcoming spirit is part of what makes the festival so special. Why You Shouldn’t Miss It Whether you’re a seasoned sailor, a curious first-timer, or someone simply looking for a fun summer getaway, the 2026 Festival of Sails has something for you. It’s an event where adrenaline meets celebration, where families can laugh and explore, and where friends can gather to enjoy the best of what Geelong has to offer. So, mark your calendar: 24–26 January 2026. Watch the sails dance across Corio Bay, enjoy music and food on the waterfront, and soak up the festive atmosphere that has drawn thousands of visitors every year. The sea is calling, and the sails are ready. Come to Geelong, join the fun, and be part of a festival like no other. Head to festivalofsails.com.au to plan your visit, register to sail, or even volunteer - and make memories that will last long after the last yacht has returned to port.

Geelong Column “Welcome to 2026” - by City of Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj

A year that’s kicking off with big crowds, big moments and a summer packed with headline events showcasing Geelong at its best. Seafood fanatics are in for a treat at the Portarlington Mussel Festival on 10 January. This vibrant community celebration brings together live music across five stages, art and photography exhibitions, cooking demonstrations, local beer and wine tastings, kids’ activities, over 200 market stalls and – of course – mussels cooked every way you can imagine. The action then tees off at 13th Beach Golf Links with the Vic Open on 15 January. Golf lovers can catch top-tier competition while enjoying food, drinks, live music, mini golf and other entertainment at this free, family-friendly event. The 72-hole tournament was one of the first to have men and women compete on the same course for equal prize money, and past champions include Minjee Lee, Min Woo Lee, Hannah Green, Jiyai Shin, Gary Player, Peter Thomson and Greg Norman. Corio Bay comes alive from 24 to 26 January with the Festival of Sails, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest keelboat regatta. More than 100,000 visitors are expected to enjoy elite sailing, live music, great food and waterfront entertainment. The action barely pauses before the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race returns, bringing hundreds of elite cyclists and more than 140,000 spectators to the waterfront, the Bellarine Peninsula and other scenic locations across our region, from 28 January to 1 February. It’s set to be a huge summer for local tourism and hospitality. Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines, exploring the waterfront or getting active yourself, Geelong’s summer is packed with opportunities to celebrate, play and make the most of the season. Last Year Ended in a Blur? 5 Steps to Get Back on the Horse

That means: • • • •

This is not the time to take on big new commitments. It is the time to finish what would nag at you for months if you leave it hanging. Anything you can’t finish gets written down clearly as a plan or list - not left swirling in your head. Anything that doesn’t genuinely move something forward gets cancelled or parked.

This one shift tells your brain: “We’re clearing space, not collecting more.” 2. Do a brain and emotion download (about you, not your to-do list) January can easily turn into a blame session in our own heads - all the things we “should” have done by now. Instead, grab a piece of paper and take a quiet moment. Answer these three questions about last year and how you’ve landed here:

LEADERSHIP SPECIALIST By Sally Higoe

Be honest for a second… Did you roll into January already feeling a bit behind? Maybe you had good intentions for how you were going to finish last year a tidy inbox, a clear head, a few things wrapped up properly - but December got away from you. You’re not alone.

And here’s the good news: even if you didn’t close it out the way you wanted to in December, it’s not too late. You can still mentally and emotionally wrap up last year now - and that can change how you move through the rest of this one.

•

As a leadership and performance coach, I spend a lot of time talking about selfleadership and emotional fitness - the ability to stay grounded under pressure and respond in a way that lines up with who you actually want to be. That doesn’t switch off because the calendar ticks over.

Two minutes per question. No polishing. No overthinking.

One thing I know for sure: there is always an opportunity to shift how you’re showing up, even a few weeks into a new year.

The end of the year has a strange energy. There’s relief in the air because people can finally pause. There’s excitement about holidays and a fresh start. And underneath it all, there’s still chaos last-minute rush, big emotions, extra demands, and everyone running on half a tank.

So if you’ve started January feeling like last year never really “ended”, give yourself permission to use this week as your own Wrap-Up Week - a reset week. That’s the beauty of it - at any point we can decide to hit reset and move forward a bit clearer and more intentional than before.

In the rush to “make it to Christmas”, most people do one thing really well: they log off.

Here’s the simple process I use with clients at the end of the year - and with those who, right now, still feel like they’re catching up.

But very few of us actually close the year. There’s a big difference. Logging off is walking away tired. Closing the year is walking forward clearer.

1. Call it “Wrap-Up Week” (even in January)

• •

What am I genuinely proud of from last year? What am I still carrying that feels heavier than it needs to be? Where did I give more than I probably should have?

This isn’t about making everything look good. It’s about being honest with yourself. Clarity doesn’t come from thinking harder; it comes from getting what’s in your head out where you can actually see it. 3. Close a few loops that quietly drain you We all have those lingering things from last year that hitch a ride into the new one: • • •

The phone call you avoided The decision you kept pushing off The awkward moment you never really addressed

Not everything needs a fresh strategy for 2026. Some things just need closure. Pick one or two and deal with them:

Give this week a job.

• • •

One conversation One decision One reset of expectations

Instead of “I’ll just try to get on top of things”, decide: this is my Wrap-Up Week.

You’ll be surprised how much lighter you feel from properly closing even one of these.

www.findgeelong.com.au

4. Decide what doesn’t get to follow you through this year

JANUARY 2026 | FIND GEELONG

5. Put one simple support in place for “future you”

This is where self-leadership really kicks in. This doesn’t need to be a big “New Year, New Me” plan. One solid thing is enough. Ask yourself: • • •

What am I no longer available for, going forward? What gets a clear “no” from here on? Where do I need better boundaries for my own wellbeing?

Ask: “What would have actually helped me last year?”

If you don’t decide this consciously now, Then choose something small but real the year will decide for you - through you’ll actually keep: overload, resentment, or exhaustion. • A weekly check-in with yourself This isn’t about being harsh or unkind. It’s • A regular time blocked out to reset about being honest enough to say: your week • A pause before you say “yes” to new “I can’t keep doing it that way and still commitments stay healthy, present, and fair.” That’s emotional fitness in action choosing the bigger, long-term view over the short-term comfort of just going along with things.

When you put even one genuine support in place, you’re not just hoping this year feels different - you’re designing it to be.

7

You don’t need a perfect December to earn a fresh start in January. You just need a bit of space now to reflect, close what you can, and be clear about what you’re willing to carry from here. Whether you’re leading a team, running a small business, coordinating a local club, or keeping a busy household on track, this kind of simple reset is one of the most practical forms of self-leadership there is. If this has struck a chord and you’d like to talk through how to create more space and clarity - for yourself, your team, or your organisation - you’re welcome to get in touch at hello@sallyh.au. And if you’d like more down-to-earth leadership tools and reflections like this throughout the year, you’re also welcome to join my email community via this link: https://leadresilience.com.au/the-insideedge

do you have an ideal customer profile?

This foundational data helps segment your market and target customers more precisely and efficiently. By understanding these customer issues and needs, you can deepen your messaging and offer the most direct, empathetic solution to the customer’s problem. Goals and aspirations: Find out what your ideal customer wants to achieve, both personally and professionally. Knowing their objectives helps you align your solution to these specific goals, helping you to add real value for the customer as a trusted and understanding vendor.

ACCOUNTANT By Anjana Jogi

Knowing your customers inside and out is one of the key factors in making your business a success. But how much research have you done into the persona of your ideal customer? Having an Ideal Customer Profile is foundational to your sales and marketing strategies. But many small and micro businesses don’t have a drilled-down customer profile. Let’s explore what an Ideal Customer Profile is and how it refocuses your strategy. What’s an Ideal Customer Profile? Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) defines the type of company or customer that’s most likely to buy and benefit from your small business’s products or services. The ICP outlines key characteristics, needs and pain points, helping you to guide your sales and marketing efforts to target and acquire the most valuable clients. How to use your ICP to drive your sales and marketing efforts. By defining a clear and detailed ICP, you provide the foundations for targets and effective sales and marketing activity. With this ICP in place, you can focus your marketing spend on channels used by your ideal customer, tailor messaging to address their specific pain points, and refine your sales pitches to highlight the most relevant and engaging benefits.

This targeted approach increases your conversion rates, reduces the wasted effort of poor targeting and, ultimately, boosts the efficiency of your sales function. 5 elements to include in your ICP To create a useful ICP, it’s important to do your homework and to drill down as deeply as possible into the details of your customers, their needs and their demographics. To create an effective ICP, here are five elements to include in your profile: Demographics and firmographics: [Define the basic traits of your perfect customer] (https://numble.com.au/howto-identify-your-ideal-customer-and-keepthem/). For business-to-consumer (B2C) companies, these will be things like age, location, and income bracket. For businessto-business (B2B) companies, you’ll focus on the client’s industry, size and revenue, etc.

Buying triggers and process: Delve deeply into what prompts your customer to look for a solution and their [typical purchasing journey] (https:// www.zendesk.com/blog/buyer-journey/). This helps you time your marketing efforts effectively and tailor sales strategies to the customer’s preferred decision-making path. Preferred communication and social channels: Pinpoint the marketing channels where your ideal customer finds information about a potential purchase. Also, find out where they engage with your business (and others) through social media. These insights help to guide your marketing to the most effective platforms, giving you the best possible chance of engaging the target, converting them and, potentially, turning them into both a follower and a customer. Having a thorough and detailed ICP is foundational to your sales and marketing. It gives your sales activity a specific focus and allows you to understand which marketing channels are most likely to deliver the results you’re looking for.

Differences Between Sole Traders, Partnerships, Companies and Trusts BOOKKEEPING By Jodie Moore

When starting or running a small business, one of the first big decisions is choosing the right business structure. From a bookkeeping point of view, the structure you choose affects how your records are kept, what reports are needed, and how complex (or simple!) your ongoing admin will be. Let’s take a plain-English look at the four most common structures: sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts. Sole Trader – the simplest option A sole trader is the easiest structure from a bookkeeping perspective. There’s just one owner, and the business income is the owner’s income. Bookkeeping for a sole trader usually involves: • • • •

Recording income and expenses Keeping receipts and invoices Reconciling bank accounts Tracking GST (if registered)

There’s no legal separation between the person and the business, so profits are reported in the owner’s personal tax return. Because of this, bookkeeping is generally straightforward, making it a popular choice for freelancers, tradies and small service businesses. That said, it’s still important to keep business and personal transactions separate. A dedicated business bank account makes life much easier and keeps records cleaner. Simply ‘pay yourself’ to cover personal expenses by transferring a larger amount once a week rather than having lots of little transactions that can complicate things at tax time. Don’t forget to also make regular contributions to your Superannuation. Although these aren’t a legal requirement as a Sole Trader, they can be claimed as a personal deduction in your tax return. Partnership – shared responsibility, shared records

A partnership involves two or more people running a business together. From a bookkeeping standpoint, things get a little more detailed than a sole trader.

grows. There are a lot of advantages to creating a Company which your Accountant can discuss with you.

In addition to the usual income and expense tracking, bookkeeping for partnerships includes:

Trusts are often used for asset protection and tax planning, but they are the most complex structure from a bookkeeping point of view.

• • •

Recording each partner’s share of profits or losses Managing partner drawings and contributions Preparing partnership financial statements

Trusts – flexible but more complex

A trust involves: • • •

A trustee (who manages the trust) Beneficiaries (who receive income) Clear rules set out in a trust deed

While the partnership itself doesn’t pay income tax, it does lodge a partnership tax return. Each partner then includes their share of the profit in their own personal tax return.

Bookkeeping for trusts includes all the usual tasks, plus:

Clear records are especially important in partnerships. Good bookkeeping helps avoid misunderstandings about who took what, who contributed what, and how profits are split.

•

Company – a separate legal entity A company is its own legal entity, separate from the people who run it. This separation adds a layer of complexity from a bookkeeping perspective. Company bookkeeping typically includes: • • • •

Detailed financial statements Director and shareholder records Payroll and superannuation obligations BAS and company tax reporting

Because companies are taxed at a flat rate (rather than personal tax rates), accurate bookkeeping is essential to ensure compliance and proper reporting. Directors must also meet specific legal obligations, and poor records can have serious consequences. While companies involve more admin, they also provide clearer financial boundaries between personal and business finances, which many business owners find reassuring as their business

• •

Tracking distributions to beneficiaries Ensuring income is allocated correctly each year Preparing detailed financial reports

Trust income must be distributed correctly and on time, or it may be taxed at the highest rate. This makes accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping especially important. Because trusts can vary widely in how they’re set up, bookkeeping often requires closer coordination with an accountant. Choosing the right structure From a bookkeeping perspective, the main difference between these structures is complexity. Sole traders are usually the simplest, while trusts and companies require more detailed records and reporting. No matter the structure, good bookkeeping is essential. It helps you understand how your business is performing, keeps you compliant, and makes tax time far less stressful. If you’re unsure which structure suits your situation, or if your business has outgrown its current setup, speaking with an accountant can save time, money and headaches down the track. After all, the right structure - backed by good bookkeeping - sets your business up for smoother sailing. JANUARY 2026 | FIND GEELONG

Clarity Over Clicks: Why Non-Profits Must Stop Chasing Reach and Start Refining Their Message in communities across Australia. But we kept seeing the same issue arise: they were being seen, but not heard.

DIGITAL MEDIA By Ethan Strybosch

In the fast-paced digital world, it’s easy to believe that marketing is all about visibility. The more eyes on your cause, the better. More traffic means more awareness, which leads to more donations, more volunteers, and ultimately, more impact.

Right? Not quite. At first glance, this logic seems sound. Many not-for-profits throw themselves headfirst into the world of social media, email campaigns, Google Ads, and influencer shoutouts, trying to be everywhere at once. They post regularly, pay for visibility, and tick every box on the “best practices” list. But despite their efforts, many still feel like they’re spinning their wheels. Campaigns underperform. Donations plateau. Engagement stays lukewarm.

Why? Because visibility without clarity is just noise. At Good Cause, we’ve had the privilege of working with passionate organisations that care deeply about their mission. These are groups doing important work

Their messaging was unclear. And in marketing, clarity is everything. You can’t move someone to act if they don’t know exactly what you want them to do, why it matters, and how it connects to a story they care about. When organisations fail to answer those questions, their marketing falls flat, no matter how many people it reaches. The truth is, a clear message is more powerful than a big audience. We’ve seen it firsthand. When we sat down with these non-profits and helped them refine their message, who they were speaking to, what they wanted people to do, and how that action linked to real-world impact, something shifted. Suddenly, their campaigns started converting. Donors leaned in, not just because they saw another appeal, but because they understood why it mattered and how they could be part of the change. Volunteers showed up because they resonated with the story being told. The mission didn’t just exist, it came to life. Take, for example, one organisation we worked with that had been investing heavily in Google Ads and Facebook campaigns. They were driving plenty of traffic to their site, but very few people

Ethan Strybosch Founder Empowering NFPs to tell the world about their cause. 0418 880 855

ethan@goodcause.au

Goodcause.au

were signing up or donating. Once we reworked their homepage messaging and clarified their call-to-action, replacing vague statements with specific impact-driven language, the same ads began performing 3–4x better. Nothing changed in the budget. Everything changed in clarity. It’s not rocket science. But it is a shift in mindset. In an age where everyone is competing for attention, clarity wins. It’s what cuts through the noise. It’s what inspires action. And most importantly for not-forprofits, it’s what fuels real impact. So if you’re a charity leader or marketer feeling disheartened because your reach isn’t translating into results, pause before you pour more into ads or post another reel.

Ask yourself: • What exactly do I want people to do? • Why should they care? • How does this connect to the transformation or hope we’re offering? Once you’re crystal clear on those answers, then turn up the volume. Because when your message is clear, marketing becomes more than just reach, it becomes momentum. And momentum is what changes the world.

Preparing for the Perfect Paint Job PAINTING & DECORATING By Steve Dahllof

minute amount of putty to fill in. Wipe off the excess and back gently. Washing the walls

Interior painting relies on the quality of its preparation for its success. Preparing a room for painting is time-consuming and laborious, but if you follow these tips, you will have beautiful, smooth walls every time.

Whether DIY or done by professionals, washing the walls is mandatory. If you’ve hired professionals, washing walls is not usually part of their service and they will charge extra for doing it. Hire a professional cleaner or do it yourself.

Preparing the room

Using a sponge mop, clean the walls (and ceilings if you are painting those) with a solution of sugar soap, also known as TSP(trisodium phosphate ). It’s essential to apply sugar soap in kitchens, especially near greasy areas like stoves, as grease can prevent paint from adhering to the walls. Walls previously painted with a satin or gloss paint also need sugar soap so that the new coat of paint will not crack due to the slippery sheen of gloss. Note that sugar soap will darken some wooden surfaces, such as mahogany.

Shift all possible furniture out of the room and cover what’s left with canvas drop cloths. Canvas absorbs paint and prevents it from leaking onto the floor, a common problem if you use old cotton or plastic sheets. You can also cover oddshaped furniture with cling wrap. Dust all surfaces to be painted, whether you believe they are clean or not. Minute fibres or dust particles will interfere with the painting process. You can use a damp cloth, but the best tool for dusting is a long-handled microfibre duster, preferably with an extension handle to reach up to ceiling level. It is a good idea to wear a face mask while doing this, even if you don’t have allergies or your walls have been dusted recently.

To apply, put on rubber gloves and goggles and mix sugar soap into a bucket of warm water until it is dissolved completely. Dip the sponge mop into the solution and wipe down the walls. Rinse the surface with a clean sponge and let it dry before starting to paint.

To get rid of cobwebs and persuade spiders and all creepy crawlies to leave, use a long-handled brush. To protect skirting boards and other surfaces you don’t want painted, apply masking or painter’s tape.

For small rooms, you could try Selley’s Sugar Soap Wipes. Clean with the smooth side and scrub with the other, rougher side to remove marks and stains. For more stubborn stains, try Mr Clean Eraser Pad Block. Cut to the desired size and test on an inconspicuous area. Scrub off Using a putty knife, press down firmly on those hard-to-lift pen scribbles or oil stains the tape, especially where the unpainted and rinse with water – easy! and to be- painted surfaces meet. This reduces paint bleed. Painting the room

uncluttered. Avoid situations where you have to reach over or across a ladder or painting equipment. While you are painting, cover your paint trays with aluminium foil or a plastic garbage bag. Put a paper plate or a baking foil to catch the drips under each paint can. Have a damp cloth within reach in order to immediately wipe up drips before they dry. Even when clothing a paint tin carefully, there is the likelihood of paint splattering across the room. When you first open the can, punch a series of holes (using a hammer and nails or a nail punch) in the rim’s channel where the paint collects so it will drain into the can and not all over your newly painted project. Stretch a rubber band or tie a piece of string vertically over the paint can. Use it to scrape the excess paint off your brush. This reduces the amount of paint collecting in the channel of the rim. Preparing your room thoroughly before painting will be worth it when you see the magic result at the end!

VANUATU the happiest people on Earth

NATUROPATHY By Kathryn Messenger

12 years ago, when I heard that the people in Vanuatu are the happiest on earth, I was intrigued, and, as a result it went onto my very small bucket list. But since then, my view on happiness has changed. I had originally thought that being happy was something to attain to, I now see life as something that contains both joy and sorrow, and we need both. How could I know joy if I have nothing but joy to compare it to?

Australia and some of the challenges that come with solving complex problems. However, what I can take away is gratitude, finding joy in the moment, and spending time with people, rather than on a screen. This is the advice that we all know is good for us, but much harder to practice in our culture.

Stress and anxiety are well known for their effect on the nervous system and so many other areas of health, and I’m always looking for ways to reduce these feelings in my life. I initially thought that it was the simple Vanuatu lifestyle that gave those individuals calm and joy, but the So, this year when I went to Vanuatu, I more I think about it, it’s just contentment, found the people that were very friendly, which is being happy with what one has. polite and content. Find Wellbeing: Supporting Every Australian to Live Well By Jan Panase

In a world that often moves at an overwhelming pace, genuine care and meaningful connection have never been more important. That belief sits at the heart of Find Wellbeing - an organisation dedicated to supporting people not only physically, but emotionally and socially, so they can live with confidence, balance, and purpose. At Find Wellbeing, true wellbeing is seen as more than just health or services. It is about feeling understood, supported, and connected. Every individual’s journey is unique, and genuine care begins by recognising people as whole individuals - not just clients, appointments, or case numbers. More Than a Service - A Partner in Care Find Wellbeing offers two key services, both designed to empower individuals and families to live well and reach their personal goals. The first is Wellbeing Virtual Support and Care Management, a flexible service that helps simplify everyday life. Through this service, virtual care specialists work closely with individuals and families to coordinate services, manage wellbeing goals, and provide practical, ongoing support. By reducing complexity and stress, the service promotes independence, confidence, and a greater sense of control. “Our goal is to take the stress out of managing care,” explains one of the Find Wellbeing specialists. “We help people stay organised, supported, and focused on what truly matters - enjoying life and maintaining their wellbeing.” The second key service is Emotional and Social Support through Virtual Care, an increasingly vital part of overall wellbeing. Delivered through online sessions, phone calls, and digital programs, this service provides compassionate, person-centred support that nurtures emotional balance, social connection, and mental wellbeing. It is designed for those who may feel isolated, overwhelmed, or simply in need of someone to listen and guide them forward.

“There was a patron yelling at a lifeguard so I asked him to come over into a quieter area and he immediately started going at me, like in my face, waving his hands aggressively, telling me to hand over a wristband and that his child will be going on the waterslide. He said, ‘Give me a wristband now, you have to give it to me!’ and I began to get quite shaken.”

The father continued to verbally abuse Lauren and the receptionist, including for talking to his son.

“He was quite significantly under the height requirement, but the parent just pointed at the wristbands and was like, ‘You’ll be handing this to me - it is your job. I just felt like I couldn’t get out of it and I explained to him that it’s a manufacturing requirement - if he’s not tall enough, he’s not safe to go on it and I want your child to go home safely.

Listen to lifeguards - their job keeps you safe As patronage at Geelong’s seven Swim, Sport and Leisure centres spikes during summer, the City is reminding community members to treat lifeguards and other employees with respect and care - not aggression.

“So, I would much prefer having a hard conversation with a parent about keeping their child safe than consoling them if something has happened to the child.”

Lauren is sharing her experiences about the impact of abuse on frontline workers Lauren says there is also a strict height as part of the City’s Occupational requirement for the two big waterslides Violence and Aggression (OVA) at Leisurelink. awareness campaign. The shift supervisor at several centres says lifeguards enforce a number of rules in and around pools in order to keep everyone safe. “We have the Watch Around Water policy and it is so important so that we don’t have three-year-olds in the water by themselves or falling off the side [of the pool]. It might only be knee deep, but that’s enough for a child to drown and I would never, ever want that to happen.”

“A lot of parents will come in, promising their child that they will be able to go on the really cool waterslide, but unfortunately, they are below the height requirement [and can’t ride]. This quite often will turn into a big piece of conflict. Interestingly, we often have middle aged men, that have children with them, getting angry and upset with 16-year-olds, 18-year-olds, 21-year-olds [employees].”

Lauren recalls a particular incident recently that left her and a number of Lauren says that drowning is the leading employees visibly shaken. cause of unintentional death in children under five.

I also don’t want to be put in a position in the Coroner’s Court justifying why I ignored the manufacturer’s instructions. Just the look in his eyes; it just felt like he wanted to become more aggressive and I had to keep stepping back and step behind the counter in order for myself to feel safe.”

After a lot of back and forth, the man left with his son. “My whole body was shaking, and it wasn’t until I got home and I told my partner about it, that I burst into tears. I did feel like at that moment he could have physically hurt me or someone else - something wasn’t right there. One of the lifeguards that was spoken to quite aggressively, it was her second shift. She hadn’t worked on the slides before and that really upset me because she hasn’t raised any interest in working on the slides since. I don’t blame her to be honest. I didn’t really want to go to work the next day after that happened. And then it’s the fear of, you know, next time you have to say ‘no’ to a parent, is it going to escalate to that extent again?”

Safety upgrade coming to Highton roundabout Construction is scheduled to begin on 13 January and is expected to be finished by the end of February. Traffic management and signage will be in place to assist road users. Black Spot projects aim to reduce serious injuries and fatalities at locations with a history of accidents.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM “Improving safety at busy intersections like this one is important for our community and always a council priority. The roundabout at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and North Valley Road in Highton will undergo a safety upgrade to install raised pedestrian crossings on all four approaches. Funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program at a cost of $495,000, the upgrade will enhance pedestrian access and connectivity, improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists, slow vehicle speeds and increase driver awareness. As part of the works, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h to further improve safety and reduce crash risk.

This upgrade will make it easier and safer for people to move around Highton, whether they’re walking, driving or cycling.”

Deputy Mayor and Barrabool Hills Ward Councillor Ron Nelson “We know roadworks are inconvenient, so we really want to thank the Highton community and surrounding neighbourhoods for their understanding and patience. We suggest allowing extra travel time or considering different routes while we deliver this essential upgrade.”

City responds to Geelong Australia Day Committee and the Lions Club of Corio Bay’s decision to cancel Free Children’s Fun Day In response to the news that the Geelong Australia Day Committee and the Lions Club of Corio Bay have made the difficult decision to cancel the Free Children’s Fun Day on Australia Day, the City of Greater Geelong is working with the Royal Geelong Yacht Club to support an expanded Festival of Sails program at Steampacket Gardens. The expanded program will include free family-friendly Australia Day activities.

Councillor Melissa Cadwell Australia Day is a very important day, and fundamentally, it’s about recognising that we are privileged to live in the greatest country in the world. That is worth celebrating, so City officers have been working closely with Festival of Sails organisers to ensure the community can continue to enjoy family-fun activities on the day, in the region.

Sports and Recreation portfolio chair Councillor Eddy Kontelj:

I want to thank the organising committee of the Rippleside Park event for their service to the community over many years, but also for making the call that the event was going to be too challenging to deliver this year.

Despite this year’s event not proceeding, I will continue to encourage and support Council to actively liaise and engage with the Geelong Australia Day Committee regarding 2027.

While it’s disappointing this year’s event could not go ahead, we will continue to liaise with the Geelong Australia Day Committee for 2027.

I have long been a strong advocate for the celebration of Australia Day, and while the usual Rippleside event won’t be going ahead, I’m pleased the City can support Festival of Sails to enhance their already significant program for the community.

We look forward to supporting Festival of Sails as they finalise details of the additional activities planned for Australia Day as part of their 2026 program.

Australia Day on our glorious waterfront is always a great day, and this year will be even better, so save the date.

Discussions will continue following Australia Day about whether the event will return in 2027 and in what form.

Healthy Minds and Nature How do we maintain a Healthy Mindset, particularly when things become stressful? I recently heard a Mental Health expert suggest that the single most helpful practice for maintaining a Healthy Mindset was to be in the outdoors, spending time in nature – exercising, playing, relaxing or working. January is possibly my favourite month because of summer, warmer weather, school holidays and cricket. My wife and I love the walks around so many picturesque parts of the Bellarine. We are so lucky down here – there are so many attractive and stimulating options. Some very healthy things happen to our minds and bodies when we exercise outdoors. Here are some of the benefits: • Endorphins and Dopamine are released into our brains that lift our moods • Unwanted chemicals are expelled • We receive a Vitamin D intake • We burn off calories • Our senses are stimulated, and an appreciation of nature is enhanced • Our heart rate increases, and we breathe in fresh air that refreshes our brains • We experience a mind shift – like a recalibration • Improved sleep patterns result One parent I spoke with was celebrating the Family Project in their backyard that her child was happily involved in. She explained that her child was stimulated and entertained for some hours while they worked together as a family on clearing and cutting up some unwanted plants. Another benefit of the above is that if we do this with our children or partners, we can create opportunities for important connections and conversation. A further spin-off is that it has the potential to counteract the overuse of Screen Time. Many families struggle with issues around gaming and the misuse of media. It’s not always easy to maintain the necessary limits in this area, so if healthy alternatives can be fostered, the issues around the mistreatment of these devices can be managed a little more easily. Some suggestions that may be helpful: • Have a family outing to a spot around the area for a walk or other activity • Go to a park to kick or throw a ball • Ride the bikes together • Walk the dog near or far • Develop a family project – plant a garden or clean up the backyard together • Go to the beach or hit the surf • Go fishing • Have a picnic in the backyard All the best everyone. Stay positive. I hope the holidays are going well. Rob Hunter LPS Chaplain Robert.Hunter@education.vic.gov.au

is your child ready to travel to school without you? It aims to: • helps parents evaluate if their child is ready to travel within their neighbourhood by themselves. • helps kids improve their safety knowledge, increase their confidence and empower them to trust their instincts and react appropriately to unsafe situations. And the best part is, you can stop and come back at any time. Head to Travelling Safely - https://www.nhw4kidsvic.com.au/ and work together with your child to prepare you both for this huge milestone. Preparing your kids for independent travel Here are 6 things you can do to help prepare your child for travelling around your local neighbourhood without an adult. 1. Take the route together You and your child should set an agreed route to and from school to take every day, and go with them on a test run. Familiarise your child with dangers they may encounter on the route, like reversing cars, barking dogs, strangers, roundabouts, motorbikes and road crossings by using the Neighbourhood Watch 4 Kids virtual neighbourhood tool. Before your child starts to walk or ride to school by themselves, it’s important to build their safety skills and confidence, and get to know your local area and its potential dangers together. Much of parenting young children is about preparing and celebrating for milestones. Our job as parents is to balance encouraging our children to be self-reliant, to embrace the development, while still protecting them. One major milestone is when your child can travel to and from school without you. Although your child might think they’re big enough to go to school by themselves, it can be a real worry for you as their parent to know if they’re truly ready. How can you: • • • •

assess whether your child is ready? encourage them to be out in the community while making them aware of potential dangers? react and respond to them, while not scaring them? make sure your child knows what to do if they feel unsafe?

Travelling alone within your neighbourhood is a critical step toward a child’s emerging independence – whether that be to school, a friend’s house, or the playground, by bike, scooter or walking. But children first need the skills and knowledge to stay safe before they take that step. Travelling Safely e-learning journey Neighbourhood Watch Victoria’s Travelling Safely platform is an interactive learning journey that parents and kids can do together to help prepare children for safe, independent travel around their neighbourhood. It’s part of our Neighbourhood Watch 4 Kids program - https://www.nhw4kidsvic.com.au/ The e-learning platform provides important information in an accessible way and is full of fun activities – including quizzes, videos, virtual neighbourhoods and drawing – that parents and kids can do together or separately.

2. Understand your child’s physical reaction to fear. Fear triggers physical changes, like butterflies in the stomach, sweaty palms or wobbly legs, known as “early warning signs”. Each child’s reaction to feeling unsafe is different, so ask your child what they physically feel when they’re scared and recognise that feeling. 3. Create a personal network. Draw up a list of five trusted adults and their contact details. These are people a child regards as safe and who they can talk to about anything. It’s good to show a child safe places in the neighbourhood, like a library or police station, if they feel unsafe. 4. Teach your child the 3 “R”s of unsafe situations. Teach your child to recognise and trust their early warning signs. Then, if someone makes them feel unsafe, they should react by using key words like “stop”, “leave me alone” or “no”, and get away from that person. Once the child is out of danger, they should report what happened to a trusted adult in their personal network or a police officer. 5. Ensure they carry personal details. It’s important that a child knows their home address, school, contact details for their parent or carer and contacts for emergency services and carries these details in a safe place, like a school bag. 6. Play games to teach them how to react in different scenarios. Spend time playing games to test how your child reacts in a series of situations, such as being approached by a stranger, getting lost or falling off a bike and injuring themselves. Then teach them what to do.

There are a few natural things in life more connecting than laughter, and we have it within us to share abundantly. Laughter is a powerful tool for reducing stress, enhancing creativity and boosting productivity. Laughter changes our mood within minutes when the endorphins start kicking in - and they are not the only chemicals. Laughter reduces the stress levels when we release the cortisol chemicals. When you reduce your stress levels you boost your immune system. Members of today’s business community are facing enormous levels of workplace stress. This silent burden often sees them coming to the end of the day having been so busy they haven’t laughed. They don’t place as much value on laughter as other life-supporting things. Laughter is in fact a real lifesaver and a tonic for good health. Laughter instigates a sense of joy in us. Laughter Yoga is a concept started by a medical doctor in the 1990s which combines movement, laughter and deep breathing and is an exceptional self-care tool that doesn’t need any equipment. Laughter Yoga is for everyone and can help overcome days without joy and laughter. We need to laugh for 10 – 15 minutes or longer to reset, rewire and reinvigorate our mind, body and energy. It is a form of exercise that involves rhythmic laughter, and breathing activities, all executed with an overarching sense of child-like playfulness. Laughter Yoga is a proven acitivity for all ability levels which can be done either seated or standing. Laughter Club Geelong offers a simple, science-backed solution where you can take part and change your life by participating in a laughter session. Discover the positive impact laughter has on our mental and physical health. Every Saturday from 9:00-9:30am at Eastern Beach in front of the swimming enclosure laughers come together as they have been doing for 25 years. Simply arrive and make yourself known to Laughter Leader Phillipa Challis.

LEOPOLD SPORTSMANS CLUB In 1971 a couple of locals, Len Lewis and Kevin Ash had an idea for a bowls club in Leopold. The idea took hold, a committee formed and money raised. A location was needed that would have enough space for two bowling greens and a clubhouse. Finally this was located in Kensington Road, our current location and 5 acres purchased for $8500.

Summer Relays Roundup Athletes look forward to relay competitions each year, as they are the only team event on the summer calendar and the only event where girls and boys can compete together in mixed teams. Corio’s Bronze Community Partner, Steigen, sponsored 82 Corio athletes in 60 “Steigen Relay Teams” in the Western Metro Region Relay Carnival held in Williamstown. One athlete also competed in 2 Region multi-class teams for athletes with disabilities. Relays are a great friendship building experience, beginning with a special training program in the weeks leading into the competition. “Team Corio” athletes competed in 46 of the programmed 73 races, over a variety of distances, and there was a lot of cheering from other athletes and family members who went along to support them. Corio encourages all athletes U9-U17 to participate and for many it was their first time competing with athletes from other centres.

17 Corio teams medalled in the Region Relay Carnival, with 21 teams qualifying to compete in the State Relay Championships held at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park, where 2 teams brought home bronze medals. Corio’s multi-class athlete competed in 2 Region teams, winning gold in both races. Qualifying for State Relays puts their team in the top 24 across the state.

Relays are great for building self-confidence. Hannah who competed in her first Region and State events said of the experience “Competing at Regions and States was so much fun because just being out there on the track made me so proud to be me. It was great to be in a team with supportive teammates.” Jack who also competed at Region and State level for the first time said “It felt amazing to make it to States, and then to win a medal was so exciting. Standing on the podium I felt proud and it was great being up there with my friends.” Corio’s athletes are already looking forward to relays next summer.

The Top Five Things to Look Forward to in 2026

JANUARY 2026 There will be plenty of Geelong representation with Jeremy Cameron, Patrick Dangerfield, Max Holmes and Tom Stewart named in the Victoria squad, while Lawson Humphries is set to feature for Western Australia.

2. Geelong’s Opening Round Debut

After a year full of thrills, big moments and exciting matches, the Christmas and New Year period is a time for the Cats to rest and recover from the year that was. But right around the corner is another blockbuster campaign, which brings plenty of anticipation for all four of Geelong’s football programs. When the players return and commence their pre-season training, less than two months will remain until their Opening Round clash with the Gold Coast Suns. Take a look at the top five things you do not want to miss in the 2026 AFL season.

The Cats were initially meant to make their first appearance in the AFL’s Opening Round last season, but that got delayed due to a hurricane moving through Queensland. So Geelong will reload in 2026, this time set to head to People First Stadium to open their campaign against the Gold Coast Suns. Both teams featured in September last year, and will be looking to build on their success heading into the new season. The Suns could also be potentially rolling out new recruits like Christian Petracca and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, which will add even more intrigue to the clash. Geelong hold a reasonably strong record at the venue, winning 11 of their 17 games on the Gold Coast, but they also have not recorded victory since Round 22 in the 2022 season.

4. Mark Blicavs’ 300th Game One of the most extraordinary footballing journeys just continues to get better with each passing year, and Mark Blicavs is set to reach his 300th AFL game early in 2026. Every Cats fan will know the story, the middle-distance runner and steeplechaser that was vying for a place in the Olympics, who then landed on Geelong’s Rookie List in 2013. Blicavs has become a premiership player, an All-Australian and is a twotime Carji Greeves Medallist, but he can also become just the eighth Geelong player to reach 300 games in the Hoops next year. At the conclusion of the 2025 season, Blicavs sits on 295 games meaning he will have the chance to reach the triple century early in the new campaign.

1. A Blockbuster MCG Home Game

5. Grand Final Rematch

Geelong and Collingwood at the MCG, does it get much better than that?

It has quickly evolved into one of the more entertaining rivalries in the modern era, but Geelong will be out to exact some revenge when they face Brisbane in Round 10 of the 2026 season.

Round 9 of the 2026 season will provide one of the biggest games of the year, as the two traditional rivals go toe-to-toe on a Saturday night in front of a packed house in Melbourne. The best news? This time around it will be a Geelong home game, the Cats’ lone home game in Melbourne for the 2026 season. Last year, Geelong and Collingwood produced one of the best games of the season with the Cats hanging on to record a famous three-point victory, in a nail-biting match that came down to a kick after the siren.

3. The Return of AFL Origin On a slightly different track, there is plenty of excitement surrounding the return of AFL Origin heading into 2026. State representative games were a staple in the AFL between the late 1970s and 90s, but there has not been an official Origin match since Victoria defeated South Australia at the MCG in 1999. So there will certainly be plenty of anticipation when Origin returns on the 14th of February, when Victoria face Western Australia at Optus Stadium.

The Lions got the better of the Cats in the Grand Final, but they have also won four of the last five clashes between the two sides dating back to the 2024 Preliminary Final. The close rivalry dates back further than that however, with both teams splitting the record with six wins from the last 12 matches against one another. Round 10 will be the first meeting of the year at the Gabba, before Geelong host Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium in Round 17. JANUARY 2026 | FIND GEELONG

“It was such a special moment, I can’t describe anything like it.” The ecstasy and elation of her draft moment created a memory that will last a lifetime, but for Morgan it was a very quick turnaround to commence her new life.

A Long Night and a Life-Changing Call for

Renee Morgan

New Cat Renee Morgan provided some insight into her first weeks as an AFLW player

There are a plethora of emotions that any draft prospect will go through, as they watch on and wait to see if their dreams will become reality.

Less than 12 hours after finding out that she was joining the Cats, the club’s newest draftee was on a flight across the Nullarbor in preparation for her first day in Geelong. “It is pretty surreal,” Morgan said.

A combination of excitement, anticipation, nerves and patience are required, “I got on the flight the day after the draft, a 7:45 am flight so they don’t mess around. while clubs sift through the draft pool in search of their next superstar. The experience was no different for West Australian prospect Renee Morgan, “They got me here straight away, but it was so who had to wait until the middle of the third round to hear her name called out. exciting to see it all in person and be able to By Cats Media see the boys as well, it is pretty cool. But any worries were quickly dispelled for Morgan, creating a moment with her “Getting to meet a lot of the girls too, they are friends and family that she will remember forever. all super friendly so I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

A talented midfielder out of South Fremantle, Morgan was described as one of the most balanced players in the draft crop, with an ability to impact the game both on offence and defence. Reminiscing on her initial conversations with the Cats, Morgan also noted that some conversations with new head coach, Mick Stinear were vital in the lead up to the draft.

Renee Morgan Interview | First Day at the Cattery Renee Morgan spoke with Cats Media on her first day at the club. Proudly Presented by Ford and Deakin University.

“I had a meeting with Geelong in April, after one of the All Stars games against the National Academy at Marvel Stadium,” Morgan said.

“But it was a 20-minute interview, so there “It was a pretty long wait, watching the draft for about two and a half hours,” wasn’t much said. But then I heard from them Morgan told Cats Media. again the Friday before the draft, I had a quick interview then. “I was super excited for Evie [Cowcher] and all the other girls, but I was just watching at home with my family. “I had been meeting a little bit with Mick Stinear at Melbourne, so I knew that he was pretty “It was getting towards the end, so I was feeling pretty nervous but when my interested and I was excited when he got the name got called out, it was so special. role as the head coach here. “Some of my friends were actually camping out the front in their car watching it, hoping and as soon as it happened, they surprised me and burst through the gate.

POPPY KETTLE PLAYGROUND Situated on the Geelong waterfront, this park is jam-packed with awesome play elements, has beautiful sea views, has picnic facilities, and is a short walk away from cafes and other Geelong attractions. It makes for a beautiful day out for all ages, and is certainly a must-do in summer. The interactive play equipment includes a multi-coloured tubular slide that winds down the hill, a dragon emerging from the ground, a timber tower, a swing, a boat (atop the sand pit), bouncers, and a unique pyramid climbing net. The playground is also well known for the interactive Poppy Kettle water fountains and miniature statues, situated amongst a rock area, which seem to be the main attraction for little ones. In fact, this feature was inspired by a children’s book written by local author, Robert Ingpen, and gives the park a magical quality. During the summer months the slide area has additional water play features. A trip to this playground can be combined with a walk or bike ride along Geelong’s famous Bollard walk or a visit to The Carousel. Geelong’s Youth Activity Precinct is located a stones’ throw away from the playground, and features basketball ring, seating areas, open multipurpose area, and skate ramps.

This is one of the most perfectly positioned playgrounds for so many reasons.

ARTS & CULTURAL PRECINCT The area between Johnstone Park and Ryrie Street to the west of the shopping and business district of Geelong is known as the Geelong Arts Precinct. This area is also home to the Geelong Town Hall, which is the main council offices of the City of Greater Geelong. The city is currently seeking funds for a radical overhaul of the precinct where the current facilities will receive a substantial redevelopment. There are also plans for some pretty innovative landscaping and street works which will bring the area into line with the rest of our recently rejuvenated city. This massive renovation will make the precinct one of the best arts and cultural precincts in the state. The scale of the project put the cost of the whole redevelopment in the vicinity of over 130 million dollars. The Geelong Art Gallery is attached to the Geelong Town Hall, and it houses a magnificent and varied collection of artworks. Two paintings in particular are extremely special to our Gallery, first being the “View of Geelong” which was painted by Eugene von Guerad in 1856. This painting was bought recently by the museum from legendary English musical creator Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. “A Bush Burial” by Fredrick McCubbin, painted in 1890 is another of the gallery’s most precious works.

WESTERN BEACH In those days there was an unwritten rule designating Western Beach for men’s bathing and Eastern Beach for women. But some ‘dastardly gentlemen’ would disregard the agreement scaring respectable women away. Today the area is rarely used for swimming, but it’s still a popular stretch of foreshore connecting Rippleside to the rest of the Waterfront. STEAMPACKET GARDENS A path on the northern edge connecting the gardens to the bay has seats where you can enjoy the sea breeze and watch the nearby helicopter toing and froing. On the eastern side you’ll find the Wharfshed Cafe serving yummy meals and to the west sits the delightful historic carousel. There are some interesting art sculptures dotted around the park. Be sure to check out the Volunteer Rifle Band bollards and The Buoys sculpture, a group of former channel buoys that have been turned into a powerful piece of artwork. The Geelong Waterfront Makers and Growers market (Steampacket Market) is held here on the first Sunday of each month. This popular market offers local produce, beautiful art and handicrafts, and lots of tasty treats.

Located right beside the water Steampacket Gardens Geelong is a big rectangle of lush lawn that’s perfect for a relaxing picnic or a game of frisbee. JANUARY 2026 | FIND GEELONG

OLD GAOL The Geelong Gaol Museum is housed in the 170-year-old Geelong Gaol, the third oldest prison in Victoria. Opening in 1853 and closing in 1991 it housed male and female prisoners. Over its history, it has been used as an industrial school for young girls, a hospital gaol and a military detention barracks. It was the site of 6 executions. Today it houses display illustrating not only the history of the Geelong Gaol but the history of the corrections of Victoria. It features displays on the Hulks, Colonial Prisons, Executions and Saga Behind the Armour along with some of the prisoner stories who have spent time behind the bluestone walls. The Geelong Gaol Museum is open on weekends, school holidays and public holidays.

When Can a Final Tax Return Be Lodged in Australia? RETIREMENT By Jodie Moore

Most Australians lodge a tax return every financial year, but many people are unsure about when to lodge a Final Return the last return before the taxpayer no longer has tax obligations. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has clear rules about when a return should be marked as final, and understanding these rules avoids unnecessary complications or delays. This article explains when final tax returns apply to individuals, trusts, and companies, the main steps required before lodging, and an important reminder that retirement alone does not trigger a final return.

Final Tax Return for Individuals For individuals, a final tax return is generally required only when a person dies, or when someone becomes a non-resident for tax purposes and no longer earns Australian-sourced income.

What to do when you retire •

•

•

Continue lodging tax returns each year if you earn taxable income above the tax-free threshold or if the ATO specifically requires a return. If you genuinely stop earning taxable income, you can complete a Return Not Necessary with the ATO instead of lodging a final return. This informs the ATO that you don’t need to lodge future returns unless your circumstances change. If your situation changes later—e.g., you sell shares or property and make a capital gain—you may need to start lodging again.

If you incorrectly lodge a Final return or Return Not Necessary, when you pass away your Estate is going to have to go back over the previous years to fix it up. As you can imagine, this can be a painful process especially if your family is having to deal with their grief at the same time.

Final Tax Return for Trusts

When it can be lodged

A trust lodges a final return when it has been wound up, assets are fully distributed, and it ceases to exist.

A final return can be lodged once all income earned up to the date of death or the date residency ceases has been accounted for. Where a person has died, their executor or legal personal representative lodges the return covering the part-year period.

Steps before lodging • Finalise all trust income activities, including capital gains. • Distribute all income and capital to beneficiaries. • Prepare final financial statements supporting the return. • Lodge the return and tick “Final return.”

Steps before lodging

Final Tax Return for Companies

1.

Companies lodge a final return when they are liquidated, deregistered, or permanently cease trading.

2. 3. 4.

Notify the ATO (for deceased estates) so the estate can be linked to the executor. Gather final income details such as wages, investment income, government payments and capital gains. Determine if a deceased estate return is needed when the estate continues to earn income. Lodge the return marked “Final return” and include all assessable income and deductions to the relevant date.

Important: Retirement Is Not a Reason to Lodge a Final Return Many people assume that when they retire, they should lodge a final return because they will no longer be earning employment income. However, the ATO does not treat retirement as a reason to stop lodging tax returns. Most retirees still have taxable income, such as: • • • •

superannuation pensions (taxable for some individuals), investment income (interest, dividends, managed funds), rental income, capital gains from selling assets.

Because of this, simply stopping work does not end your tax obligations.

Steps before lodging 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Cease all trading activities and finalise accounts. Complete all BAS, GST, PAYG and super obligations. Dispose of assets and settle liabilities. Prepare final financial statements. Tick “Final return” on the company tax return, then proceed with ASIC deregistration.

Final Thoughts A final tax return isn’t something lodged lightly. It’s appropriate only when a taxpayer (individual, trust, or company) no longer exists for tax purposes or will no longer earn assessable income. Retirement, on its own, does not meet that definition. If in doubt, a registered tax agent can help you determine whether you should keep lodging, lodge a final return, or submit a nonlodgment advice.
