2025 Highlights

Scholarships

For 31 years, thanks to our donors, The Community Foundation has helped open doors to education through scholarships. Today, we steward more than 165 individual scholarship funds, each reflecting the values and generosity of local donors. Over the past three decades, these funds have awarded more than $7 million in new and renewal scholarships to more than 2,700 students. In 2025 alone, nearly 300 scholarships totaling more than $450,000 will support students as they pursue their goals.

Fun for All

Fun for All was created in response to community feedback that affordable, family-friendly activities were limited. Through this initiative, The Community Foundation helps bridge that gap by bringing arts, theater, sports, and recreational experiences to residents of all ages at no cost. Since 2023, more than 40,000 people, nearly half of Hancock County, have attended Fun for All events. In 2025, the program included 77 events and welcomed more than 13,000 attendees. The Foundation looks forward to continuing and growing this program in 2026.

Affiliates

The Community Foundation began as an affiliate of the Cleveland Foundation. In 2025, we took the next step by launching our own affiliate program. This program serves nonprofits and community groups seeking a trusted philanthropic partner to expand their impact. Organizations may join as a nonprofit affiliate, committee-directed affiliate, or school foundation. Currently, six affiliates are part of the program: Awakening Minds Art, Findlay City Schools Foundation, Forge the Future Van Buren, Hancock Properties Foundation, NAMI Hancock County, and Van Buren Schools Education Foundation.

Advocacy

Advocacy remains a powerful tool for increasing local impact. In 2025, an investment of $85,000 helped leverage $1.4 million in public and private funding. Since 2020, total advocacy investments of $421,000 have resulted in more than $11.2 million for the community. Major efforts include twice-yearly mayors’ meetings, six advocacy hour lunch-and-learn sessions, and support for public funding applications such as microtransit and the tri-share childcare program. The Foundation also continues to monitor changes in state and federal funding to identify opportunities for Hancock County.
