Letter from the President & CEO

For 30 years we’ve focused on one goal: improving the quality of life in Hancock County. And even before the Foundation existed, our predecessor the Dorney Fund started that work in 1979. This year, we proudly celebrate the work that has been accomplished in the last three decades and look forward to what is still to come.

Despite another year of uncertainty due to the pandemic, Hancock County has once again proven its generosity and humanity through the growth of the Foundation. In this report you’ll read about the progress we’ve made toward our vision of a lasting community impact.

What you don’t see in this report is the intangibles – the children at preschool, animals cared for, nonprofits supported and so much more. We’re looking forward to telling those stories throughout this year for our anniversary. Visit community-foundation.com/30 to read about our plans.

As we celebrate 30 years, I’ve been using the phrase full circle often. Each time we get a grant report back we see the fruit of our work, but especially this year I see the fruit of our mission. I see the investment a donor made decades ago that is still bearing fruit today but has changed the lives of many along the way as well.

May those seeds continue to grow, the trees they sprout be stable, and the fruit they bear be plentiful.
