Findlay Galleries is pleased to present Henrik Simonsen: Recent Works, a solo exhibition of new paintings by the contemporary Danish artist, now on view in Palm Beach. As long-standing representatives of Simonsen’s work, Findlay Galleries has supported the development of his practice, thoughtfully placing his work with collectors and fostering a lasting connection between artist and audience.
Simonsen’s paintings represent a distinctive position within contemporary abstraction, engaging the natural world as both subject and structure. Rooted in botanical observation, his compositions move beyond reality, exploring color, light, and spatial depth with clarity and control. His work resonates with the legacy of decorative modernism, where artists such as Bonnard and Matisse reimagined landscape through color and spatial ambiguity.
In this new and exciting body of work, Simonsen’s layers of vegetation emerge through veils of saturated pigment. These elements shift between clarity and dispersion, creating compositions where depth and surface remain in constant dialogue. Color organizes each work while softening its boundaries, resulting in paintings that feel both structured and atmospheric.
Through this approach, Simonsen creates immersive environments that reward sustained viewing. His vision and craftsmanship result in paintings that are concerned with beauty and offer a compelling experience to the contemporary viewer.
